    • @IAmTheRealBill
      @IAmTheRealBill Před rokem +367

      Hmm but isn’t it also the case that demons in earth mythology are from another dimension - named Hell for the Christians - as well? As beings from a different dimension they would thus be aliens from another dimension.

    • @AlexM-oq5el
      @AlexM-oq5el Před rokem +198

      @Bill Anderson Yeah but take the Saints and Seducers for example. They are daedra as well, and they have no affiliation with daedra from other realms. There are likely countless other daedra who are just like that, doing their own thing

    • @vermillion6159
      @vermillion6159 Před rokem

      @@IAmTheRealBill I differentiate aliens and demons that way: aliens are lifeforms from another planet, they evolved similarly to life on earth, and if aliens were ever found irl I'm certain they'd be rather basic and not nearly as spectacular as fictional media made them out to be. They are just foreign lifeforms at the end of the day, and therefore not even truly supernatural. Demons on the other hand are regardless of religion described as something supernatural, as spirits that don't even have a physical form. The horned humanoids we think of when we hear the word "demon" mostly originated from pop culture after all. Their ability to possess people and affect other aspects in ways that aren't explainable by regular science is what sets them apart from aliens as well, if demons truly exist they couldn't be explained as easily as aliens.
      So given that Daedra, Dremora in particular, have a culture and physical forms while also having "demonic" traits (hivemind, inability of having an identity or names despite their intellect), I'd say they're a hybrid between the two concepts

    Lorkhan, by definition, cannot be a daedra. He was the one creating Nirn, it was his idea, he convinced the other gods to help, and he had to die to keep it stable (the instability is also the reason why the gods are never present despite protecting Nirn). On principle, Nirn isn't that different from daedric realms, except that the "owner" is dead, and it's a lot more welcoming. A reason why it can't be a daedric realm is because the version we have comes from the inhabitants of mundus, seeing their world as the "main" one and the others as outside realms, which is true. But also, this one was a project in which several gods participated, the others are more like their own personal house or bedroom. The other, main reason, is because daedra means "not our ancestors" and aedra means "ancestors". It's not really a literal sense, it's more like creators. Those who aided in creating mundus, the most well known one being the 8 divines. Thalos is technically not an aedra, although he became a god, but he might be an ancestor nonetheless, at least to some of the population.
