I hate discovering new songs thru Julia because I know the original isnât gonna hit the same.
never new possible jamiroquai.... not new just great covers as well..
I fill the same way
Yes!
Yep!
Nah, majid jordan slaps all on their own!!! This is def a groovy addition tho
Let's drop the female prefix. Julia is the smoothest BASSIST on YT.
Yes, yes she is. I canât get enough of her and her covers!
The basslines add so much to the song that I didn't even realise it was missing
I can confirm as someone who was around in the 80's, this song has that 80's summer vibe.
As soon as I heard the first part, after having read her assertion, I thought "Boys of Summer" by Don Henley.
Sounds like when Paramore decided to be new wave. I fuck with it
Julia makes every song like a đ
every song make julia like a đ E X C E L L E N T !
i can't stop listening to her music
she does it so effortlessly, pretty awesome
Better than the bass players in the groups she covers. Absolutely amazing talent.
Canât believe Iâm listening to this for free!
Right this should legit be on Spotify
You can donate to her Patreon if you like
One of the worldâs greatest bassists. No joke.
A five -string bass is a dangerous weapon in the hands of Queen Julia.
This is my first time hearing this song, and now I can't imagine hearing the original version without this amazing bass line.
Same!
first timer here as well. Original song is good but fall short. Julia's bass lines have way more vibe.
heard this song for the first time on the radio like a couple weeks ago and I thought Julia would be covering it lol
That's how I am with a lot of her covers.
No more need to watch the originals :))
This bass addition makes the song SLAP.
Pun intended?
@@Harry-cz1tv Uh, yeah? It's pretty obvious that's what they were going for in their comment considering Julia is literally slapping the crap out this!
Life really is divided into "watching Julia's videos" and "waiting for the next one", huh?
Julia is always faithful to the song. EVERYTHING she does fits respective to the original without stepping on it. Those ghost notes are absolute perfection. Can you really call this a cover compared to the original, any original (Dua Lipa, et al.)? Her fills, HER FILLS are truly inspired. That a 20 yr. old can have such an artistic connection to anything is truly amazing. I`m glad she picked up the bass though, and not a paintbrush or a sculptors hammer & chisel, or even worse - a guitar. Did I mention that I like what she does?
Una genia... !!!
simp
I play guitar and I am really offended now đ lol! All jokes aside, Julia is my favorite bass player too.
I donât always knows the song being covered, but I always listen because I KNOW Itâs going to be good with Juliaâs cover on it
Yup. I often look for the original and it's always way inferior to Julia's covers :D
On the 1
I'm never know with the song. Not the sort of music I follow but it sounds good and Julia just makes it shine.
0:00-3:28 Ouuu, that's my favorite partđ¶đ
I can't believe the sound you are getting out that Sting Ray. Perfectly balanced across the strings. So many professional studios fail at mixing the bass guitar and your mix is so much better than most pros.
To all other bass players watch Julia and learn, this is how to slap musically (when you slap like a machine gun it isn't musical so watch Julia and learn from her - this is how to slap musically).
@Just to watch stuff thanks mate i hate watching people showing off slapping like machine guns rattling off like noise pollution.
@@HarleyBreakoutGuy Totally agree. That's how I feel with Mohini Dey's playing. Not only is the groove completely gone, the melody is also gone. And often these machine gun slappers cannot even maintain tempo in their attempt to play extra notes.
@@SKarthikeyan75 machine gun slappers have no idea they do not sound musical and they are not playing in beat and tempo.
@@SKarthikeyan75 i totally agree with you on this.
iâm loving all this 5 string content
Exactly
I hadn't noticed she changed to a five string bass
@@davidencastin5987 she has 4 different basses I believe!
Fuck yea
i like your pfp
Hi Julia, you made our lockdown easier. Can't go on a day without playing your bass covers! We play all of them over and over again, you know, like a tradition đ Also, It's summer time here in my country and this one is just perfect! Love from the Philippines!
7k views in an hour since release says it all. Everyone who knows her work can't wait for the next track. Her groove is so tight she feels the music and expresses it with the depth of an ocean. Well done Julia.
how is it possible to make an already chill song even more chill?? only Julia does that!!
Why do I never get tired of listening to Julia play the bass no matter how many times Iâve heard the same song before?
I just bought a new bass, SO EXCITED!!!!!
There's something so relaxing about listening to you absolutely rip that bass đ
Fr! I listen to her at work. I'm a mechanic that works in a metal building with no AC. We getting cooked but she keeps me cool with her basslines. Makes me dance while I'm working.
Its because she plays clean bass
RIP ASS *
I would straight up go to a club and pay money to watch Julia pay covers...and I know Iâm not alone!
Fo sho.
Sheâs so smooth
I'm sat here absolutely melting on the couch. I see a new upload from Julia. I put it on the TV. My half-dead body gazes at the screen. Julia starts absolutely pumping energy through my speakers, and I feel alive again.
The artist who made this song should thank you. You managed to make their song even better đđđŸđ„
Julia is sharing the gold to us Bass players. The mix highlights the bass along with a clear view of what she is doing to play it. Very Inspiring! Thank you Julia
I remember the 80s well and you're right. It does feel like summer in the 80s. Nice cover!
Juliaaaaaa she's become my favourite female bassist
Favourite period!
By far my favourite overall. There are some bassists on CZcams who are technically more skilled, or who provide content this is more deliberately entertaining / meme-like. But I'm yet to come across somebody who can play a narrative like Julia
She is one my favourite bassists overall!
She's my favorite bassist right now, and I've liked a *lot* of different bassists over the decades.
Part of my brain wants to watch julia's hands perform their incredible magic, but... I can't tear my eyes away from observing her face, careful not to miss a single expression...
Wow this song leaves me gasping for air. Julia just kills it â„
These always sound like perfect studio takes
Just trying to put in some time cues for my favorite parts when I realized 0:01-3:28 is just the whole song.
Just some beautiful phrases that are Juliaâs signatures.
It is totally acceptable to respond with âJuliaâ when Iâm asked who my favorite band is.
I can never hit play fast enough when one of your notifs come through. You're an absolute joy to listen to, Julia, and one of the best things on CZcams. Thank you for being you, and doing what you do. đžđ
When I saw it on my phone I stopped walking ----- in the middle of a big street đ
while Julia plays bass...I celebrate how wonderful life is.
That slap is so smooth. I'm trying to learn to slap at the moment, it's really bloody difficult. Julia makes it look easy.
Perfect and clean. Brava! đ
My ears have been officially blessed.
Iâve avoided this channel for literal years LOL I stopped playing bass for a while bc I lost the passion but here I am watching all of your covers, I just ordered a new bass to try and get back on the grind. Really appreciate you uploading, itâs honestly helped me get back to playing!
I know exactly what you're saying. And she proves that you don't really need that $5K custom shop whatever, when you see (and hear) what she can do with a $300 Sterling Sub.
1:07 is one of the most satisfying and smoothest things I've seen on this channel
Woah breaking out the 5 string! Nicee. That tone is insane
It's impossible to pick out a "favorite part of this video." Every time I hear a lick that sounds incredible, there'll be another one 10 seconds later. Absolutely fantastic video
I don't know what I admire more, your skills or your passion. Both touching.
Canât stop listening to this on loop, Juliaâs expressions of sheer joy warm my heart like I canât explain
Great performance! You also really nailed the mix between the bass and the rest of the music.
She's on her way to being a legend. She's phenomenal to me, I wish can learn to play bass like her one day.
It's pretty special to be able to make any song better at will. She is our James Jamerson.
Absolutely perfect
Wow, wow wow.Never have heard the bass being played so well. đ
No words to describe! Julia, this style of music enhances the timbre of your bass. We want more!!!!
Slap at the lower string makes the whole song stood up (sounds wider & dynamic) by itself. Brilliant application Jules đ§đłđź
Honestly I can't listen to this song the same way before. The Julia touch added the flavor.
One of the few I ALWAYS give a thumbs up b4 watching... as guaranteed never to regret that with my fav bass queen.. once again another brillant piece of work!
Girl, you have got this down. I canât get enough of your awesomeness. Keep on making music better.
This video is reason I started playing bass â„ïž
Those last few lines are just /chef's kiss/
This girl make all the songs sound really good. â€ïžđđđ»
I imagine myself listening to this song while on a road trip and watching the sunsetđ
Thank You Queen J! Youâre undeniably talented! â€ïž
I've been watching your progress now for many years... you finally got that thump pluck transition down Miss Julia. Great touch. Keep the groove alive darling!
You are a gem in the community of bassists.
Can't wait until Julia lands her first major gig in the future years!
These basslines make this song go from a jam to a full on BANGER â€ïžâđ„
Every time im like âyeah, thats it, cant get any betterâ then new cover comes up and.... Yeah.. she is just too good !
A lot of practice goes into making something like this look so effortless
Absolutely amazing, keep on sharing your talent with us!
I play a banjo! I donât listen to pretty much any of the music Julia covers, BUT I see a NEW VID NOTIF - I smack play and am taken into a mesmerizing display of awesomeness that is indescribable. In awe of you Julia - you from 3 years ago when I started watching and to today. You got the goods girl! Bravo đ đ đ
This one is my favorite so far! So smooth, effortless, and extremely satisfying.
That hit the spot. Another great performance. I can listen to you play all day long.
it is wonderful how you speed up with your fingers, really a high speed now. But I like that you don't do it like many men, who just focus on showing that they are "the fastest and coolest", you do it step by step and so it looks natural, cool and effortless. THAT is really COOL! (And sounds super nice!)
The slaps never fail to impress, love from Poland
Strait fire đ„. Your groove is amazing!
wot a lady bass player ,im 59 ,i learn a lot of bass from you ,thank you Daryl
Julia playing bass makes the song much powerful
You have a lot of strength in your left hand but I can't stop watching your right hand. Great technique. Congrats on the skills
Hi juliaâŠâŠ you are flying towards a place that no one can replace. Your style of playing!!! Wow⊠goose bumps always, when I listen to this song. When u played⊠the song got its actual color⊠go ahead
Love from Indiađźđłkerala-kottayam!!!!!!
As usual, your delivery is on point. So smooth and funky. đ
One take and done. The musicianship speaks for itself. Julia has never spoken on her covers because she doesn't need to!
You know, she could be doing a dozen takes and two dozen practice plays. Julia is discreet. She only shows what she wants to show. Feberal bass8st discipline.
@@carpediemarts705 lmao of course she does a lot of practice plays. Two dozen is still very very little
She usually does 3 or 4 takes and selects the best one. I read it in a previous reply when someone asked.
Love watching this woman make it look so easy!
The growth from the 1st few covers to now is awesome. Keep jamming!!
As I've mentioned before, you are an absolute joy to listen to. You add so much to all the covers you do. Thank you for sharing your music, your gift.
The extra string gives the bass more "oomph", therefore making the sound juicier. Thank you for all these content!
Never heard this (original) song in my life, yet I've returned to this track by Julia like 50 times.
THE KINGS SHARED THIS ON INSTAGRAM! đ
Got the link?
Oh YES!! I needed this in my ears and heart today !!!! Thank you,Julia !!
Beautiful...đ„đ„đ„đđđ
Oh look, Julia's killing it!...who would've thought!
The Queen of bass fills and articulation has done it once again!!!
This enhances the original song enormously!
Julia's musicality's like that modest in a way, but uncompromising genius guest at the table. Even egos are laughing, conceding without realizing on their highness. Then curtain and silence come but that soft touch still rings in every minds.
Julia makes every song she plays funkier and thus better.
wow she is way too amazing to be a real person .....she has to be a dream
Queen of Bass slayed againđđȘđ»â€ïž
She makes it look like âeh...no biggie.â đ
Effortless, flawless, and so very clean. Masterful playing.
It's kinda hard to go back to the originals after hearing one of these videos.
Your music always so wonderful to listen to. I think you have given me the inspiration to pick up my bass for the first time in 4 years. Thank you Julia!
I wasnât always a big fan of the Bass guitar in general but youâre such a badass at this, so now I like it lol
How has an artist not reached out to you yet? Every single song you add bass to is indefinitely better. I'd want your bass line in my song.
Hey Jules. Your skills in how to sense the touch to lock the groove is incredible...love the lick at 1:59 "BASS BEAST"
