What a master Steve Cauthen was, front running tactics as with Slip Anchor. The man was a joy to watch. I'll never forget the ride he gave Risen Moon in the Cambreshire for Barry Hills a few years later. Pure genius
@@nightowl7459 I backed him on Alydaress in the Irish oaks to beat Alyshia, fantastic ride once again. I was with my dad that day. Wish I was 19 again like that day.
@@numanoid5665 Yeah, me too, a lot of good times when I was younger, been watching a few videos lately and horse racing looked much better then that it is now.
Bellotto made up a similar amount of ground to Dancing Brave the year before. He's a good 10-12 lengths behind after getting knocked sideways coming down the hill. Reference Point could be argued to be a better horse than Sharastani so Bellotto's performance is staggering in the circumstances.
@@roberthartley6629 Dancing Brave ran the year before this race. Bellotto is in this race. Re-read my statement, I'm not saying Bellotto ran the year before. Idiot!
@@csb7376 Fair comment. Even calling me an idiot which is fine because I deserve it for misreading your post.... and I was perhaps a wee bit of a keyboard warrior that day.
Graham Goode, what a master commentator. Absolutely no one else comes close to hos commentary. I miss him.
Class ride by S.C
What a jockey cauthan was remember it like it was yesterday

@numanoid5665
Unfortunately we don't have Jockeys who can ride from the front like Cauthen could, the don't go aggressive enough early on.

underrated derby winner still the last horse to win the derby and leger in same year
What a commentator,Graham goode take a bow.
Incredible winning line commentary!!
A cauthen masterclass
That was awesome .
Another Derby win by Steve "the Kid" Cauthen.
Another by Mill Reef
not the epsom derby its name is the derby
reference point would have won the derby today by 10 lengths x x x
And if you look at how well Ajdal is going at the 11f pole. He ended up a top sprinter. Perhaps better than that :-)
I had backed Ajdal for both the 2000 and the Derby ante-post. Eventually got my money back :-)

Don't think so. Derby is for 3 YO only. Internt nonsense
