Needs more poorly timed stoplights with unreasonably long/short cycles.
Imagine if it were civil architecture people would be getting scared to go over the loop de loop and they'd be hitting the brakes and it would be a nightmare that would be accidents everywhere all the time all the cars ramping over the houses would be not going fast enough and crash into the houses people would be fishtailing off of the triangle corners

Did they cause it or did they help the diagnosis after the first seizure? Is it possible for someone to get epilepsy from flashy lights all of a sudden? I’m genuinely asking because if it’s possible I’ll avoid them for all costs. I hope you’re feeling better now 🥺💜

@@MomDoer-qc7iw Not true for development. You can have a certain development or underdevelopment of the brain, or a genetic mutation. It can be inherited or simply a mutation. As far as seeing something and then developing photic sensitive epilepsy, that doesn't happen from the action, but rather the natural development or underdevelopment of the brain. With that development, you will then have to find certain criteria that would trigger the seizures.
Technically it was a high speed vehicle that triggered your first seizure. The trees were just innocent, immobile bystanders

Women care for people, that's why women become Nurses/Midwives. Engineering is about the thing, Architecture is about people, looking at the thing.

true the roads should've intersected constantly but no turning allowed
Toronto is actually like this! vast majority of major roads seem to have totally random traffic light timing, and some straight sections even seem to be 'anti-synchronized' on purpose so we have to stop at every intersection!! no wonder so many just blast through the reds
1 second green phase followed by 599 seconds of red phase. Six cars per hour

As a local, yes, the I-5/I-90 interchange is something we do try to avoid. Props for using a shot of Seattle that doesn't include the Space Needle.
Seattle is baby traffic compared to Austin
@@CharlieKellyEsq This may be true, but it's still very hard for outsiders to handle our stop-and-go rush hour traffic. The fact that no one is honking just... gets to them. The quiet is unnerving.

I live in a city that has a very specific honk that means "I DO NOT LIKE WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND WISH YOU WOULD DO IT SOMEWHERE ELSE" and believe me, it gets a whole lot of mileage. Light might be turning green sometime? BWOOONK. Cyclist spotted? BWOOONK. Pedestrians in the intersection and yet the person in front of you refuses to run them over? BWOOONK. Cut off a streetcar? DINGDINGDING HONKHONKHONK DINGDINGDING. (You don't mess with streetcars)
I would love no honking traffic jams, but they would definitely be weird. How else do people express their displeasure to the person in front of them at being unable to magically make the road clear?
Best honk is Montreal snow removal machine honk, it sounds like a flock of car-geese are urgently trying to take flight at a volume that ensures everyone in the surrounding 10 blocks knows it's "move it or lose it" time for your car.
@@Jockdog Yeah, in Seattle we generally use honks to add information to the conversation. We all know that rush hour & bumper to bumper traffic SUCK. And we all know that other people know this. So we save honking for when we want to say things like "Have you fallen asleep? Traffic is moving!" or "I am here and no, I don't want my car to fight your car, don't break suddenly!"
If you build a circle of large one-way toll booths and make it so that people can't change lanes, you can make a spiral of tolls where they drive through the same booth multiple times (moving over one lane each round) before exiting in the middle of the circle.

It's a feature, not a bug.
If you want to make this work then you might be able to stop them from despawning in the traffic manager mod. one of the buttons in there is to enable hard mode which makes it so traffic never despawns. Might be worth a go
Ditto, Marty. RCE's unlikely to learn tho. His comedy content videos show up on my algo but they're infuriating because he often fails to understand basics on the game/modset he is using.
If he looked at what other creators do with these games in a little more detail he'd probably get more hits.

The only thing missing from this is how long in game does the commute take? Is it days, months, years?
That depends on how fast time moves in game and how long the route from home to work takes. If it takes a few minutes to arrive, according to the time in game, they spent at least half a day trying to get to work.
I've been watching for almost a year and has to stop 7 months ago because of my studies, I've now started back again, the nostalgia and the power of your content gives me is amazing. This is literally how tolls work in texas each section cost a certain amount. More for over 2 axles, and more if by mail and not a toll tag, you can take a free road to all the same places but it's much slower.
Matt: I think I've pushed this commute to the limit, there is no way I could do this worse.

BTW, if you use Traffic Manager mod you can disable car despawning setting. This will actually help you with your torture.

As a carpenter, I have to say that you really architected that up nicely.
The company that owns my local public transport (buses and subway) have traumatised me too much this year for me to even stomach explaining how bad it's been (and I have a tendency to make do with things being bad because "I'm ok, really, and it could be worse, so I'll manage"!).
Constant bus and/or train strikes, one line off all year, flood damage to the remaining line, and that's without the daily "train out of service due xyz" randomness.
One week I was late to every 9am lecture I had. Every day, I learned from my mistakes and changed my route. Every day, I was still late.
On the last day of term, it took me 2 and 1/2 hours to travel the 10 miles home - I had to get 4 different buses.
I miss my 1 hour commute from when the train line wasn't closed for repairs - one day, (so the ancient legends say) the line will reopen and the great evil will be defeated!
It’s finally happened. This has become ‘Let’s Engineer It Out’.

My commute takes me 2 1/2 hrs. getting to work (because of bus schedules). I thankfully have a coworker who takes me back to my apartment, which is ~20 minute drive (I don't have a car)

You'd think Matt learned highway design in New York with that toll road design.
To stop cars disappearing you can turn off despawning ("easy mode") using the TM:PE mod - the game despawns by default to stop traffic jams getting too bad. It's the top right button in the mod thingy
Tip: vehicles can be changed. For mass transit vehicles, select a line to change the model. For service vehicles (hearses, police, etc.), their respective buildings (cemetery, police station, etc.). The following DLCs expands your options:
• Vehicles of the World
• Airports
• Snowfall (for trams)
Alternatively, Steam Workshop has a huge library of vehicles, notably by bsquiklehausen, the content creator of Vehicles of the World.

few things that you can add to make it worse than current ones:
1. 'rollercoaster' style roads
2. traffic lights .. alot
3. bridges that can open close for ships
4. roads that intersect with train (idk if it exist in this game) tracks
5. spread out location of everything
6. mountain/hills climb at 10km/h
7. random roundabouts at each roads
8. snake-style roads / zig zag
9. zig zag bumpy roads
10. put everything close at center (but not facing each other) and make the road path veryyy long just to get to the building beside you
Funniest bit for me was the straight roads with different speed limits.. the way they slam on the brakes!
Because of the length of the commute I feel like Architects have to leave for work a day early XD
hahaha amazing, but imagine this at the end of a long day of being an architect.. And then having to commute home for like 3 hours over this amazing track
The best-worst part of this commute is absolutely the long road with the trees. Not only is the flashing horrible, if that road is east-west then it doesn't matter if it's a morning or evening commute, SOMEONE is getting miserably blinded by direct, unblocked sunlight. Furthermore, flashing sunlight through trees absolutely causes road hypnosis and that is a total bi... architect... to cope with. Without an upper speed limit, I see lots of sleepy or blinded commuting architects careening off the road straight into the treeline.
A+, flawless execution of the 10th Circle of Hell.
No enough traffic jam to my taste, my commute from France to Luxembourg was about 35km with 90% of highway (two or three lanes alternatively with fancy service area merging lane where the road would shrink to make it worse) and would take up to 2 hours during peak traffic hours.
Still satisfying to see people having such a worse nightmare commute, even in a video game.

Ok, I finally believe that Matt had a real job in building highways. There are too many coincidences in road design happening here for it to all be a big lie.
"Is your real life commute even worse?" Well we may not have tolls, or undulating roads, or pouring sewage, but we do have poorly timed traffic lights and I think we can all agree that is indeed many times worse. At least your thing kept moving

I wonder if their bust stops are as clever as the one I have at home. Basically some architect had the idea to build a concrete box people can stand under, and now the bus frequently drives past the stop, because the driver can't see the people waiting
