Yes, but 10 years ago they would be making announcements over the PA and kicking people out to go home. Malls are dead.
I would have watched this earlier, but I was finishing my Christmas shopping on Amazon.
Looks like my local mall here in Kentucky. Something about walking through them near by yourself clears the mind, kind of like a stroll on the trail.
If I'd known Southdale would be this almost-deserted on Black Friday, I would've gone.
This is the kind of mall I like.
It's just odd to me to see malls dead, on a black friday this place should be jammed w/people. I prefer stores to see product, Amazon can only do so much. It's crazy to see this desolation.

That's funny that you made this video. I did the same thing in my area yesterday and the mall cops tried to stop me. But I'm like, no one's going to care in 20+ years, especially if the mall closes and gets torn down. They'll be happy that my video exists of their mall from back in the day. The mall cops can puff their chests out all they want, I kept filming discretely until I was satisfied.
Good! I had the same encounter years back trying to film a dying mall and now all the businesses are gone and the mall is closed permenantly. And almost no footage exists of it or the decades of history that once thrived there. So many good memories gone forever.

Malls are a public space and there’s no expectation of privacy so the mall cops have no legal basis for telling you not to record. Furthermore, there’s hundreds of surveillance cameras in that mall recording you, so it would be hypocritical for them to even say that. Next time tell them that and to go f-k themselves

Wow. Yeah, those experience spaces (arcades, escape rooms, etc.) really saved malls...I mean, those places are just teeming with people.

It's really obviously evening IMO. Black Friday is a morning thing.
What time of day is this? The only time I've ever seen a mall that empty is in the morning when everything is opening and during COVID.

The guy CLEARLY says in his DESCRIPTION that this video is taken right as they opened the mall! Obviously, not too many customers got there yet!

i like how some places do the sensory silent times, helps the mind much like being alone in places like this its awesome. used to work at a mall and was able to go in the backrooms, just fun seeing it how it was built and not touched over the decades.

People are at home with their families, riding bikes, playing football in the yard with their family and friends. The malls will be filled with shoppers next week.
I used to shop at Southdale, it was always a nice and pretty busy mall. This is sad to see.
I was in the Sioux Falls SD mall on Black Friday and it was busy. Not busy like black fridays used to be, but it was still busy.
Online shopping killed the malls.
E-commerce wounded brick and mortar retail. Covid is what killed it.
All these big malls are dying. Because of Amazon. Not to mention people are too lazy to get off their lazy asses and interact with people. What a world we live in. I'm glad I'm 50 and old enough to remember when you went to the malls to shop meet up with your friends and socialize. I also remember playing outside and rides bikes with my friends.
In this struggling economy, no one needs their overpriced junk. You want our money? Put groceries on sale.
