Sheri Taylor I feel the same way about so many things… It's interesting isn't it like when watching old Christmas movies or things like this!

I feel the same way about anything and everything before the 80's.

Notice that the lyrics of this happy little song specify that it's warm inside Southdale Mall: "It's warm as the spring there, the temperature's grand..." And why not? That would've been a huge, wonderful change from the normal Christmas shopping along outdoor streets in Minnesota in December.

My memories are all late 60's and 70's Still can't find any pictures of the basement I knew, The arcade, "Piccadilly Circus" when it was in the basement, and Roz where they sod magic tricks, and neat stuff.

YES!!!! I have been thinking about this for years ... wish I could find a photo of Roz, Piccadilly, and the 70s T-shirt shop that was right there, too!

This is pretty much what it looked like till 1989 when it underwent personality removal to become another white box inside.

@@selleck2u It changed a lot in the 80's. I remember the 60's and 70's. I even fell in the goldfish pond.

@@claremorgan9896 simply and glad times...your friends laughed at you but were with you, now..hell I'd bet they'd laugh at you and pull out their camera device to record you falling in a pond. I remember all the marvelous colors, well better yet, the beautiful vibrant yet unsaturated colors, the cheryl greens and ochre yellows, dark maroons, and fantisful blues. All coming together to create that perfect mid century beauty of colors you wouldn't even see in modern day.

Just imagine if the owners had kept it like that. People would have come from all over to see an example of classic 1950s architecture. Now it's just a soulless white box.

Spent many hours in the basement kid's area there - the best part of going to Grandma's house (53rd and Chowen Avenue South, Minneapolis) was the trip to Southdale - right down France Avenue.

This was recorded at Bruce Swedien's original studio in South Minneapolis, who went on to engineer many famous albums, including Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Minnesota.? was this close to Saint Ollif. ? I was just thinking how cool it would have been if Rose from the Golden Girls shopped there.

Saint Olaf from the golden girls isnt a real town. It was just made up for the show. There is however a St Olaf College but no town/city called St Olaf.
