I owned WM-FX315 in early 90's - it was amazing that time :)

Useful video! I recently found one of these at a market and got one because I already have some tapes at home.
Looks like you had a fun hiking trip!

My first Walkman was the Sony WM B19 in the early nineties, I listened every day my cassettes in the bus to school. After a few years I wore it out (I was a heavy user), this time I wanted something better with more luxury - radio, dolby noise reduction and tone controls - I decided to buy the WM FX315. I had to order it from the Sony catalogue in my shop back then, it was not available in the shops in my area. It was great to have tone control and radio... One time I had to let it repair during the guarantee time. Nice memories!
I really can't remember what happened to it, I think I wore it out as well. In the year 2000 I got a Job and a car, so since then I listened to my cassettes in my car and at home I only listened to CDs. Never bought a Walkman again... I bought a Sony Discman later, which I always take to flea markets, to listen to CD's before buying :-)

It seems that I have a similar story. I had a cheap cassette-corder since mid-1980s. Got a cheap FX101 in the early 1990s to listen to mixtapes while riding bus or subway. Started buying CDs, but I did not have a CD player, so listened on a computer through a CD drive. In 2002 I bought one of the first solid-state MP3 players and completely switched to digital files. The recent cassette comeback is a fad that will fade away quickly :) in particular because there is no good modern playback equipment. CDs are a different matter, no reason to throw them away, and there are many ways to listen to them, or just use them as a backup in case streaming disappears :) Thanks for the comment!

@@ConsumerDV Yeah, I have about 300 CDs today! In the eighties I was a cassette junkie, I mixed tapes, I recorded on high speed with tricks (gently pressing the PLAY button, on some units you got monster voices, haha), I cut the tapes and so on... I still have a decent cassette deck and some tapes, but I mostly listen to CDs. In my car I still listen my cassettes, since it's a 20 year old VW Golf IV, greetings from Germany 🙂

You might consider playing the same music on both decks, to make a somewhat better comparison of the WM-FX101 and WM-FX315. Both have fundamentally similar design but the FX-315 has tone adjustments and auto reverse. Thanks for your video!

It does not play video. The video is for you to not get bored from looking at a black plastic box :-)
