- Voters will have a choice between the Conservatives’ “optimistic” view of the future and Labour’s “doomsterism” later this year, the Prime Minister said in a pre-election pitch to voters.
In a speech to the Policy Exchange think tank on Monday, Rishi Sunak sought to portray himself as the best person to lead the UK through a period of great danger and great opportunity.

If I was an adviser to Sunak I could win him the general election easy. Just offer a series of referendums within 12months of being re-elected. Net zero, immigration, Proportional representational voting, British Bill of Rights, free speech, bbc licence fee, foreign aid, ECHR, allow the public to vote in policy changes and completely roll back on benefits obsession as its unpopular and dumb. Come election day anyone with a brain is taking these referendums because Labour won't offer them.
He's really shooting himself in the foot with the benefits thing. A lot of his supporters are racists yes but they are also uneducated poor people and old people both of which will be benefitting from the welfare system. Does he really think Big Brian from generic council estate #12 is going to vote for him after he says yeah that £700 you get a month and spend on alcohol and cigs how about we make it into a voucher!
Or that 70 year old Betty is going to give him her and her husbands vote when she can't spend her benefit money on her grandkids after paying into the system her whole life she instead gets a voucher and has to provide receipts for everything she purchases all whilst having him lecture her about how just because she is on benefits she's never paid anything into the system and is a leech despite working her entire life? Whilst he is a billionaire who is still actively getting paid tax payer money despite the fact he doesn't need it at all and was never actually voted in.
My grandmother and dad, dad had a car accident which wasn't even his fault drunk driver just took him out. So he can't work anymore but did since he was 16. They are both in exactly this situation btw and were voting for rishi before he started going off the deep end (Because they are both racist). Are they mad? Insane? It's the stupidest political approach I've ever seen and all he is doing is alienating a lot of the only voting base still with him.

Sunak claims the economy is improving, people don't care about figures, they care about their own bank balance and whether they're financially comfortable again and they aren't. Inflation may be down and GDP up a tiny amount but wages haven't increased and prices are still rising and those are the two things that matter to the public

@@gmorgan894that’s not how the CPS works. I had to explain this the other day to someone who believed the same thing. They literally did not have the evidence. Watch any forensic documentary and you’ll see how hard it is to get a watertight case together that the CPS will approve. “He said/she said” isn’t enough to stand up against defence cross-examination. Savile relied on picking his victims carefully. There were no other witnesses to corroborate the accusations and zero forensic evidence. The only way of putting him in the dock without physical evidence was getting every victim to testify at the same time which was never going to happen in his lifetime - as was proved. Only one victim came forward when he was alive and it was her word against his. Not enough evidence to build a case with - end of. I have a close friend who works in digital forensics and even when they know someone is guilty they’ve got to have zero holes in the prosecution evidence or the case won’t get approved for trial.
