    Yeah... I'm not sure if I'll continue to do any videos like this (well, except for the 3 or so I have had recorded for weeks now lol). I'm definitely much better at talking about things of a car when I'm looking at them in person, rather than afterwards. But, still a cool car and I feel I did the best I could with this video, so I hope you enjoy!

    This video was just a huge memory trip for me - we had a white '90 780 Turbo back in the day. It was the best car I could ever hope for - we replaced it with a '98 XJ8, and although I loved the Jag, that Volvo was a dream.
    Heck, we'd had Volvos before, an '89 740 GL wagon as the family hauler, and an '84 240 sedan (which was before my time). I want another 740 to daily, but I want a 780 for a restoration project.
    Cheers, mate!

    I had a 1991 780 Turbo back in 1999. I was able to get it up to 125 mph. I crashed it into a tree and fractured my shoulder (the air bag didn’t deploy). I loved that car. Red with the two tone tan interior. Also, you mispronounce Bertone. Great job explaining who Bertone was and his contributions to auto design.

    One of Volvos coolest cars IMO. It was their attempt to compete with Mercedes and BMW at that time the import cars. In America were. Really selling well in he 80s and all of them kept adding fancier and more luxiourious models i was suprised this model didnt have cruise control as standard equipment ? The one featured did not have any. On it i had a 1981 242 that had it and i thought that Cruise was standard on that model ? Although it was a new car on the dealers lot so maybe i did pay for it i just didnt order the car so i dont recall paying a option fee i was raised in a Volvo freindly home as my father loved them for the safety features ! We had several wagons through out the 70s and 80s and my Dad did most of the repair work at our home

    1800, C30 and 780 - my favorite Volvos. I must say, though, that this one seems a bit - TALLER in its stance than I remember...is it the "crossover" version? ;-) Someone please lower this car an inch or so!

      It's currently queued up at the Kansas City Mecum auction going on right now, but there's no guarantee it'll sell. You can check out the listing here ( www.motoexotica.com/inventory/listing/1988-volvo-780-bertone/ ) in about a week to see if it's sold.

    The V6 was made by a consortium of Renault and Pugeaut. What a messed-up combination. You could tune it every day and it never stayed that way. On paper it looked like a grand design but wasn’t.

    • @seansullivan4709
      @seansullivan4709 Před 3 lety

      They also used the same engine in the Delorean. If I bought a V6, I'd swap the Volvo inline six from a later model.
