I wish you’d be a little more descriptive with exactly what screws go where with the reassembly..I tend to get lost there. But that’s just me being nit-picky. I’m an idiot and usually end up with an extra screw or 2 left over at the end. But I throughly enjoy your videos. Long time lurker new subscriber here 👍

    5:30 DO NOT pull on the flex cable at the bottom of the DVD drive!
    The retaining clip is the brown piece around the plug on the board
    Lift the brown piece up gently from power supply side and the cable will be free

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Před rokem +2

      PULL STRAIGHT UP , it will release it self, the retaining clip its not biting on the flex it won't damage the flexor! we open so many and never ever had issue with it. but if you want to fight with it and find a way to stick your finger under and not damage the flex and pull the clip out..sure do it. but there is no way in hell you can damage the flexor by pulling it straight.

    I watched your video and was very thankful, did all the steps like you did. Got 2 screws now that i cant remember where they came from, but the overheating is a bit less now. Then i watched another video and saw that you can open the CPU and GPU even more. The silver thing is just a "safety cap". Beneath is more heat compound that could be old. At least that is what i saw in that video from Nsc. Might be important to change that paste too.

    • @uFixTek

      Thank you for the feedback and your support and regarding the "thing" its not too important and if you wish you can replace the it. i don't remove the IHS because its too risky for the viewers to do so and they can really damage the cpu or gpu, and we have done many many test and the difference are:
      if you replace the IHS thermal compound you will only get 3c extra temp drop! (not worth it not even a bit)

    Sooo!
    First, thank you very much, it's so easy to have someone to follow when it's the first PS3 you open!
    I had some troubles with the bluray drive because I left a disc in it and I had to reset it by removing a gear
    And you forgot 1 screw behind the drive lol was scared to see a screw left 🤣
    I would have been easier if you showed the screws before reassembling them but overall it was very useful to me!

      regarding the screw its not a important screw , i had to reopen and place the screw later on but, ya this was one of my 1st videos and i was learning to focus on camera and do the job and talk and all at the same time :P but i got better at it , if you haven't place the screw nothing will happen.

    Thanks for an excellent guide! My PS3 still won't start, but having gone through this process I can now be pretty sure it's a power supply issue so I've ordered one from eBay. Interestingly, my CECH-2002A model was slightly different in a few places; only three tamper-proof screws along the front side instead of four, the wi-fi and BT antennas are routed over top of the DVD instead of underneath, and notably the DVD-ROM ribbon cable was moved to the rear of the unit, making assembly much easier.

      80% of the clients that come in the store have PSU issue, when you turn it on it suddenly turns off or it only makes a beef noise. replace the PSU and you set to go.

    my mans got a great video, that really helped me, however if you follow his step by step you're gonna end up with one lone black screw at the end just like me and like him. After reviewing the footage i know exactly where it goes, The disk reader thingy has one where the three ribbons go in a black plate type thing.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Před 5 lety +4

      lol Jesus who said some can melt and destroy i been in service for over 15 years not even a single motherboard failure because of paste melting lol , all you need to know regarding thermal paste is to use google and or get the recommended brands, dont go with china crap paste or some pure silver ash. go with artic silver 5 , artic mx 4, or one of the best pastes is amzn.to/32KLvWs (Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut) this is one of the top of the line, if you want to go better you have to go Liquid metal and that is only for gpus.
