06/30/24 Ss Judges 11:31-12:2 - Jephthah, after being placed over his brethren, to lead them and deliver them from the hands of the children of Ammon, sent message to their king, reminding them of their history. However this bold and powerful message, testifying of God's power and His intervention for Israel was followed by a foolish and unwarranted vow. Jephthah vowed to offer the first thing to come from his house to meet him (after God gave him the victory over the children of Ammon) as a burnt offering to the Lord. His only child, his daughter, was the one who came out to meet him, causing him to realize how foolish and destructive his vow had been. The taint of his foolish vow destroyed his daughter's future and brought heartache and terror to himself.
