    When planting a rooted cutting, I cut off the ends of the mature leaves so that the cutting does not lose too much water through transpiration. I don’t cut the new leaves because of their small surface area. I also place the pot in a shaded place for the first two weeks so that the plant is not stressed by the heat.
    I believe cutting the leaves is also a good idea for a plant that has yet to establish an extensive root system. The reduced size of the leaves reduces the ability of a wind to move the cutting to one side. That action would probably result in broken roots.

      You are totally correct ! 👏 But for me, generally, I'd like to keep everything to show that a strong root ball can support the plant survive.

    Great job on documenting the combination of techniques you used to air layer! I have tried air layering with soil, rooting hormone, and foil with very poor results. I think maybe 1 out of 15 actually rooted. I'll try to look at using moss.

    I would leave the lower leaves on to help prevent sun scald on the trunk. Don't forget that loquats are in the rose bush family. Therefore, a good organic rose bush fertilizer will promote long healthy leaves and increase the strength of the tree to resist pest damage.

      Your local temperature might be a problem for this subtropical fruit tree? I am not sure this tree can be planted outdoors in the ground and can survive in the winter (if without any protection) or not in your area? Or this tree can only be container-grown? But I remember in my hometown in China many loquat trees are planted in the ground event though our local temperature in winter is very low with big snow. LA weather is amazing, and can grow anything. 😍

      A lot of factors can affect rooting time. For me a couple of months I can get pretty decent root balls ready to plant and get blooms and fruits at the same year.

    請問一下盆栽的枇杷要多大的盆比較好?然後因為我的是透過種子種植,有辦法生出枇杷來吃嗎?謝謝你

    • @LAyangfamily
      @LAyangfamily  Před rokem +2

      你好,盆的大小取决于你的枇杷树的大小,太小的植株用太大的盆容易烂根。如果你的枇杷树是通过种子发芽长大的,一般要经过五到十年的时间才能开花结果(如果运气好的话),所以一般不建议通过种子来种殖枇杷树来获得果实。此外,种子种植的果实口感和品质会与母株有所不同。如果你是为了好玩和作为观赏植物,倒是值得一试。一般果树都是通过嫁接或空中压条或扦插的方法,来快速开花结果。因此,在这种情况下,如果可行的话,你可以嫁接一个成熟的枇杷树枝条到你的长大的树干上。一般在两三年内,就应开花和结果(我嫁接的柠檬🍋树枝条3月后就开花结果了,我有相关视频,正在密切关注跟踪)。根据我的经验,空中压条的方法,如果条件合适,一般会在当年或第2年开花结果(柑橘树绝对没问题,而且我的很多空中压条的枝条都带有果实,我有相关视频讨论)。所以综上所述。如果你想尽快吃到果子的话,建议空中压条从成熟的果树或嫁接果树。此外, 我目前有空中压条的 枇杷树,也有从种子发芽的枇杷树, 两者的区别特别大。过段时间我会上传一个视频,作为对比。此外,我也会通过嫁接改良我现有的枇杷树。如有问题,可留言,谢谢,祝你好运。

      @@LAyangfamily 我家裡全部都是用種子孵出來的枇杷,目前已經有一棵算大的,我在想說是否可以把小棵的枇杷利用嫁接到最大棵上?這樣的話可以加速生果嗎?謝謝

    • @LAyangfamily
      @LAyangfamily  Před rokem +2

      @@nero1205kimo 如果我理解你的问题正确的话。你想把1颗从种子发育的小树苗嫁接到另外1颗同样从种子发育出来的大树苗上,以此来加速小树苗的开花结果。我的答案是否定的,这种处理并不能加速你小苗的开花和结果。嫁接的好处之一是将一颗已可开花结果的成熟枝条嫁接在一颗可能未成熟的砧木rootstock上以此来加快树rootstock的成长。顺便问一下,大小苗各多少年了,大苗是否开花结果了?

      @@LAyangfamily yes sir, I'm going to try this with my loquat tree I just bought. It's in a large 20 gallon container, do you think I should plant it before air layering or will it be ok to air layer while it's in a container? It's about 7 feet tall and healthy.

    • @LAyangfamily
      @LAyangfamily  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Wow, a 20-gallon container with 7 feet tall, it is a big tree. I am wondering how much you paid for this tree. 🤔 Actually, I did not see the tree, but I would rather you double-check before you air layer the branch. First, does this tree have a lot of thick branches? Since the loquat tree branch bark is thick, and after you remove the cambium, the branch would be very thin, easy to break. Second, are you familiar with air layering technique? Third, is this your first loquat tree? How much do you know about the loquat tree? Fourth, you just bought it. It needs time to get used to your new environment and the way you manage it. So if all the answers are not very positive, I would rather you wait and do later. BTW, I will post a lot more videos regarding loquat tree multi grafting, and grafting on seed-grown seedlings. Thanks. Good luck.
