Yes! But I actually ended up going with a D18. Tried out both the D18 and D28 in the store, and the D18 just spoke to me. I love how minimalistic it is. Literally zero decoration or adornment other than the ring around the sound hole. I can't believe how loud it is. Plays like butter. Absolutely love it.
I bought a 1969 D-28, used, in 1972 -- for $400. By luck, it happened to be one of the last Brazilian models, which were phased out later in 1969. Still looks and sounds great. By the way, the term "Dreadnaught" translates as "fearless" -- and was what early versions of Battleships were called. They were the terror of the seas in the "old days" -- nothing to do for enemy vessels but flee for their lives at full speed to avoid being sunk and drowning at sea. A "killer" guitar when introduced -- and it still is.
Someone told me back in 2007.... Get one of these, boy... As he held up his HD28.. Now I have a 2014 d28 Custom with snowflakes and scalloped bracing. It was worth the wait... great video..🎶🎵🎶
I have a 1969 Brazilian Rosewood Martin D28-S which is a 12 fret dreadnaught. The neck is just a tad wider than the plain D28 and it provides a little more chord room on the neck.
I had a '75 model I bought for $500 at Silver & Horland in June of 1976. I lost it in 1992😢... I've had other Martin models over the years, even a Takamine lawsuit copy, nothing compares to my first one.
I own a few old Martins, and have played many more. After 33 years my default guitar remains my trusted ‘59 D-28. You can play anything on a D-28, it will always work
Love my 2021 Reimagined D-28, although I end up playing my beat up Cort Nylon guitar more. Mainly because if my dogs knock over the Cort I don't mind as much.
My grandpa left behind an original Martin d and my mom kept it in storage and eventually gave it to Goodwill without even checking out what it would have been worth.
Oh no … bet there are so many stories about „it’s just an old beat up guitar“ like that🫣 they should ve told her at Goodwill. Anything else is somewhat criminal if you r asking me!
I remember when they were all 1-11/16” nut width I was mad they switched to 1-3/4”, but now later down the road I prefer 1-3/4 or the 1.72” of Gibson… How times change you
100% Wanted to like the 000-15M. It's ok, but it's 2300 CAD, soft case. The Larivee OM-40M feels like twice the guitar for 2600 CAD. And has a great hard case,

Nice video. Another major change from the pre-war d28’s is the change from red spruce to sitka spruce.

D28 was the one for me. Awesome guitar. Wouldn’t mind also owning a D18. That will have to wait.

I think the quality of their standard models has gone way down. I have a 2016 D-28 and the build quality doesn't seem to be as good as you'd expect.
