I've never understood the derision this film gets. As a kid I wore out my VHS tape of this one. So many great moments. Kirk and Co. stealing the Enterprise is a great Star Trek moment.
As much as 2&4 are better movies, this is the best written one; point A to B with great stuff in-between. ❤❤
Me neither I still like it and have the Blu-ray set!
They blew up the Enterprise. They killed Kirk's ONLY soon after introducing him last movie. And they spoiled the movie's ending by calling it "The Search for Spock" instead of leaving it as a nice surprise.
@TheBigExclusive two words; Kobayashi Maru. That's what 2 and 3 were, for Kirk; facing the no-win scenario in the loss of his son and ship. Plus, despite the "spoiler," I am glad we kind of knew the outcome; it brings a measure of comfort.
40 years later and seeing the Enterprise going down still hurts I'll never forget the reaction to that audience on opening weekend after that scene was over everybody had this look on their face like they got punched in the stomach somewhere even weeping. There was one lady in particular I remember she was so upset about losing the Enterprise her husband had to take her out of the theater
This is my favorite Trek era by far. From the red uniforms to the interior/exterior ship designs.
HAPPY 40TH ANNIVERSARY RELEASE OF THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK
Kirk stealing his own ship is pure classic Trek at its finest...my favorite of the whole film series .
The very first Star Trek movie I owned on the VHS.
Is soooo good and soooo underrated.
In my opinion one of the very best of all
The new Trek films and even TV series can't match this film! Star Trek III will always be my favorite Trek film.
I thought Leonard Nimoy did a phenomenonal job directing this. Can't wait to see this on the big screen later in the month. The music by the late James Horner deserves so much credit.
I turned 67 yesterday. I wasn't feeling old enough. Thank you. 😂👍
Happy birthday!
@@JohnDiMarco Thanks, John.
Happy Birthday 🎂
I am seeing this at the cinema twice.
Saw it last in 84. Same cinema.
Can't wait.
SPOCK: You came back for me.
KIRK: You would have done the same for me.
I’m going to be looking for anniversary screenings. I haven’t seen this in the theater since 1984.
This is a great film and a great Star Trek film. At the time it came out, my circle of friends and I thought it was the last movie because of the ...and the adventure continues... at the end. Besides, there was no more Enterprise and Spock was back.
Definitely be seeing this movie again at the cinema on Father's day 🖖
The first movie I went to see alone in the theater at 14yo. It’s honestly got a more special place in my heart than TWOK, the arguably better film. Further? The death of the Enterprise? The Excelsior?? It’s so wonderful. Time to watch the UHD. Thank you!❤
Edit: oh thank you for the memory!! At 16 I ran away from home from my mom’s family back to where I’d lived with my dad and was enrolled in school. My dad was a gambler and alcoholic. I spoke to him a few times after that and he was gone. But as the plane took off (KY to NYC) I kept thinking to myself, my god SeismicFrog what have I done? What I had to do. What I always do. Turn death into a fighting chance to live.
I never went back permanently. This film inspired me. It made me reach for my best self. To hope and turn perceived death into a fighting chance to live. I f*cking love this film. Thank you again for unlocking that memory from 1986. I’m 53 now and it had started to fade into cosmic background radiation. Man.
My favorite Trek movie!
I’ve never seen this on the big screen.
This gets rectified next week
I’ve booked my tickets to watch this masterpiece at the cinemas on Tuesday! God I can’t wait, this film is so underrated in the Star Trek franchise
Part two of the Genesis Trilogy. Out of the Star Trek films in this trilogy, this would have to be my favorite one of the trilogy. My favorite line in the movie is “don’t call me tiny”.
You mean part 2?
@@theguyinthebluejacket3474 Yes, I just corrected that comment. Thanks for noticing.
