    The amount of trash being thrown out of the train windows by passengers makes a mockery of our " Swatch Bharath Abhiyan" !!!!

    • @Platform7byBinaiSankar
      @Platform7byBinaiSankar  Před 11 měsíci +3

      Unless the railways provide sufficient waste bins to collect such trash, and develops a mechanism of ensuring the trash is disposed effectively, this would continue to happen, unfortunately.

    Enjoyed this 200th video especially coming as a mid-week break! Congratulations on this milestone, Binai :)
    I too agree that the Jolarpet - Salem section is one of the most beautiful sections in the region, and this is possible only in a few trains like the WC! I also still remember the electric-> diesel loco change that used to happen at Erode long back for WC (6627 then), even when the line was electrified till SRR.
    Just hope that this train, along with its legendary counterparts Mangalore Mail, Malabar express (+ Maveli exp.) get LHB coaches soon, so they get their rightful due. If SR could do the Pandiyan-Cholan-Rockfort RSA with LHB, this also should be done. But sadly, looks like either there is no will or push to improve these trains.

    • @Platform7byBinaiSankar
      @Platform7byBinaiSankar  Před 11 měsíci

      The loco change at Erode was to send locomotives from Erode diesel shed to Mangalore. The loco would otherwise have to be sent light till SRR. About LHB - The current allotment system gives priority to long distance trains. Mail/WC isn't really a long distance one!

    Ah, West Coast Exp 😊
    Regarding the Loco Escape lines - Yes, Chennai Central never had a third line between the two platform lines, but there used to be turnouts that would enable a loco to get onto the adjacent track. Its not clear if these turnouts are there between the current platforms 7-11, but the older ones used to have them. Trains like Lalbagh, when they had a lesser number of rakes, would not halt right at the end of the platform, but well before it to allow the loco to detach and proceed to the adjacent track via the turnout. If I remember correctly, this used to happen to many shorter intercity rakes. I dont think it used to happen in the case of trains like Brindavan or even Kovai.

    • @Platform7byBinaiSankar
      @Platform7byBinaiSankar  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thanks for that info. I'll check if those points exist even now during my next trip to Chennai. Please note they are "coaches" and not "rakes". A rake is a formation of coaches.

    There is also a different up and down line between Magudanchavadi (Salem) from Erode and Towards Salem not sure of the reason. Please do comment if you know.
    This route badly deserves another day time express since CBE Intercity, Kovai Express all runs full. And a new daily UR Express from Salem to Shoranur that would help connect Salem to Kerala during day time

    About two decades ago, there was a major accident in the twin double line section and there were many casualties. A passenger train collided with a goods train face to face. As I remember railway declared that it was a human error.
    Due to the lack of road connectivity in the GHAT section, rescue operations were very difficult.

    • @Platform7byBinaiSankar
      @Platform7byBinaiSankar  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yes. That accident led to the railways reconsidering having twin single line sections.

      Not yet converted and not on the list of trains to be converted in 2023 either. 16347/8 will get LHB rakes this year (due to its rake link with 12619/20 Matsyagandha Exp)
