Yeah. Nothing will ever be worse than Next Mutation, even if I still kind of love the PR crossover.
Venus De Milo was a terrible idea, but I would kind of like to see her re-attempted by Nickelodeon or someone. With competent writing she could be great as a guest character.
They made the Next Mutation Turtles less obnoxious in the PR crossover so yeah that's the best thing they were in which was pretty sad for that show.

the first live action movie though the 1990 one isnt really that much better though the turtles had no personality in that one they were all the same character i love all the series though loved the original animated series the 2003 animated series and the current TMNT 3D animated series

Look while it's not good, I'll give them credit for being faithful to the cartoon. Like at least they got Bebop and Rocksteady right, they're just bumbling henchmen. Krang does look like what he is in the original cartoon, and the turtle van is there… for just the beginning.
But the problem is it's an exposition heavy, the only time there's action is at the beginning, the river chase and the final battle with Krang. Not to mention it's so cartoony to the point where a plane's cockpit it open and the pilots fall out and they have parachutes. Krang's overall entry is the film is random, he shows up in the beginning and then comes back in the last act.
Stephen Amell performance is just too excitable by bad directing he's given. Megan Fox (nothing against her, I mean ever) sleepwalking through this and Laura Linney is pointless. Tyler Perry is actually having fun playing Baxter Stockman and the actors for Bebop and Rocksteady actually were alright. Shredder however I'm mixed about but then again, not every episode of the original cartoon had Shredder as the main villain. Not to mention I don't know why Will Arnett is brought back in this.
But listen, if you let Michael Bay "ruin" your childhood, you never had a childhood worth holding onto. Stop playing the victim card whenever Michael Bay or other filmmakers does something with the 80s. *mic drop*

It seems to be getting mostly... good reactions from what I've seen. But I trust Brad Jones so fuck no Im not seeing it.
*Jack Gattanella: It also got a D and some shit from Chris Stuckmann. Even Jeremy Jahns, who liked the movie, didn't give it a "buy it on bluray" let alone "awesometecular". It seems that people who were fans of the 80s cartoon like it more than those who just watched it, and all revieweres more or less admit, that this movie is loaded with fan-service for the old fans. Which is why I trust those reviewers who are not gigantic TMNT fans, since they won't fall for the fan-service that easily.

Seems like a sound business strategy. I'm sure Paramount's intent with this film was to wholly exclude people who haven't watched every single piece of Turtles-related media ever.
Plus, it seems like Allison is pretty big into the old show, and if anything she was MORE vitriolic toward the movie.

I wonder how hard Brad and Allison cracked up when Phelous said this was better than the first one.
I just saw it. I'll say that I really like the way these movies depict the turtles both visually and as brothers, which makes it even more disappointing how literally everything else about the movies is either unnecessarily bland (as was most of the first one) or disastrously stupid (as was most of this one). If you took out nearly every scene without the turtles (or that included the turtles in delivering horrible exposition), this would be a fun movie, but the plot and means of exposition are so fucking awful it's almost impressive; at times this felt like a movie written for preschoolers but with swears. If they could just insert these turtles into a movie that made a lick of sense and didn't feel like it was calling you an ugly poop-assed idiot to your face every five minutes, they'd easily have the best one in the entire franchise, but they're miles away from that.

I'm really glad I'm not the only person who didn't completely hate this movie. It was fun. not a masterpiece, but it felt like an episode of 80s tmnt. beebop and rocksteady were great. my biggest problem was clunky exposition. But the animated show had that and everyone gives it a pass.
Agreed. I just bought the first 3 seasons on DVD. The movie definitely shows how silly things can get. To me they did get Beebop and Rocksteady right. Krang sorta felt like the 87 one too. I just had fun with it and tried not to take it too seriously because if I did, I'd probably be disappointed. We are after all at the mercy of these Hollywood writers and M Bay. Unless someone comes along and does it better we are stuck with what we get. Would be nice to try to do it differently if one could do. 😆

Tbh i rather sit through these ninja turtle films then watch Transformers by Michael Bay. The first one was admittedly the only good one of the series. Then it went all repeat from then on. Yeah new robots in the films and its explained how more showed up and all that but 4 was really confusing and man i walked out of there. good thing i only paid 1 dollar to see tht movie (dollar theater around where i used to live). But yeah I'd much rather watch these then those movies. They get the personalities good, and the choices for the turtles are good ones, and the fact that they're doing new stuff with them is intriguing lets just hope we don't go back in time again good god that one sucked

Do you know who would have made a better April? Scarlett Johansson still playing her Black Widow character. Just in a banana yellow jumpsuit instead of her black one. Would have fit seamlessly into this movie and in a good way. If you're going to do superhero action schlock, at least do it right, Bay.

The interesting thing about Krang's voice by Brad Garret is that he has Pat Fraley's "blessing" with it. They're good friends apparently, and in a letter to someone on the Technodrome forums, he said that he was excited about the casting.
If anything, Krang sounds like a non-Scottish Bill Nighy with a stuffy nose, but for how *huge* he was, it worked.

Whoopi Goldberg basically looked like a Ninja Turtle in the first movie. Tyler Perry was great in Gone Girl. Krang was pretty awesome despite having limited screen time. Shredder doesn't look like Megatron which is a good thing.

I felt the biggest problem was they had funny krang from the 87 show but only boring shredder from the prequel - so they couldn't build the awesome chemistry the old villains had. I think it might had been better if they just would have left shredder out completly, because all the scenes with old saki - you could easily replace him with krang and let him order around Baxter.

Given the first one decided April created the Turtles, why didn't they change it here so that VERNON is Casey Jones, having created it as a persona for himself so he could be part of the team?! Seriously--he SEEMED like the kind of guy who liked watching hockey and wrestling but he isn't good at either so he just makes up this scraggly vigilante and names it after a goalie who wore the mask and a wrestler famous for his long hair! Then the movie opens with the Turtles going after some bad guys and here comes who we think is Casey only for it to be Vernon screwing up at just the wrong moment so Raph and Leo have to come to his rescue and mock him!! They could be training him in the sewers and he complains about getting hurt, always wanting time outs to recover, but if they'd given Will Arnett the CHANCE he could've been just as good as Elias Koteas!

I haven't seen this movie yet but I had a feeling it would be more or less disappointing from the trailer : / Have you seen the 2003 animated series Pheleous? I would love to see someone's review on it, I've always thought it was a weirdly solid show for something that aired on Kids WB for years. It's what got me into the most recent turtles comics (which are also wonderful).
I just can't get over how bulky and weird the turtles look. They're so big?? They don't look like they could actually do any stealth or really athletic thing???
