exactly, If I were a criminal stealing anything of value, I would look into some kind of kind of electronic scanning device that would tell me if any type of device
is already secretly installed, I bet such devices exist, a bluetooth or wifi sniffer for example, but they're limited in range for the end user, so not ideal, but the right kind
could protect motorcycles or electronic mopeds or e bikes from being lifted off and carried away into a pick up truck and permanately lost without a trace,

@@flolou8496 You imagine a very professional thief with high-end sophisticated equipment, but this is rare. I know there are GPS locator detectors, but the quality of that product is not as good as the GPS locator, so don't worry. Buying a GPS locator is just an extra layer of protection, not a 100% guarantee.
Any OBDII based trackers are a poor choice if your concern is vehicle theft or misuse. Every car thief worth their salt will check for the presence of any OBDII device and toss it out the window. Someone wanting to temporarily hide their location can simply pull it out and drop it on the floor then claim they didn't notice it had fallen out.

Yeah I had that bmmpr obdII Tracker and then I thought of using a splitter to hide it better... finally I took a 12v battery and messed around with an obd port extension I bought on Amazon, found the wiring on the bmmpr site and realized if you could wire it up inside the vehicle to a 12v source it could be invisible.
Then I wanted to see what reversing the - and + poles would do. I hear a soft pop, smelled a funny smell and saw a small cloud of smoke rise.
No more bmmpr :-(

lol, a thieves first thing to do in a car. Look for OBD port and rip anything out and throw it outnof the window. Done in 5 seconds. Yes, a brilliant system. For sure helpful against a drunk/drugged thief that got in your car as you left it running at a gas station while using the toilet, yes, against such type of “thieves” it is fantastic indeed! Now, against the guys that clone your key frequency by just standing somewhere near you at a fastfood joint or post officer or whatever, for those thieves this tracker will be nothing but a laughing stock.
Meanwhile FYI anyone who has a Smartphone (and even the older phones) can be tracked. Whether powered off or not. Depends on who’s Tracking you.

I am horrified how OBD/2 trackers make it to the top lists over and over. That is the first thing a thief will look for, rip out and throw it out of the window. Yet, people pay for plans! To get into a modern car these days is still not too hard, let alone starting it (cloning key freq. while you’re sleeping or at a post office, you have no chance), so you really think such an organized thief won’t check your OBD port?
Alternatively you can buy a super cheap phone and share the location

Well, my current thoughts as of 27 Sept 2023 are this: You should employ a double anti theft solution: The Non cellular methods for your Android or IPHONE are so cheap, you should use that more or less as a decoy. If a thief steals your bike and goes looking for a tracker, let them find that one first, they'll think they're safe from being discovered, but that's where they're wrong and you've got your real tracker hidden somewhere better, but that solution if it's a real solution isn't cheap, you have to get a unit that uses true tracking via a cellular chip, you can't rely on wifi or airtag type trackers, they're not reliable enough, for obvious reasons, if your bike is stolen by a non Iphone user your airtag is useless, and WIFI isn't that common to the point the thief won't just try and dump it at a pawn shop or something similar the next day, for 200.00 bucks. @@lizzy__brock

If it is not SATTELITE-BASED navigation system, then it is wrong and misleading to be called "GPS tracker". Bluetooth and Cellular positioning systems are not part from a GPS.(even though they work together these days)

Vehicle GPS trackers should not be plugged into your OBD2. Can easily be found by someone stealing your car, and unplugged, rendering it useless. This list shouldn't have even considered those trackers as a good choice for anything other then live diagnostics.
