I like to cut the bass and high on my OD-1x to have more focus on the midrange and avoid scooping the sound to better drive the amp input. It's a very good and very flexible pedal. The OD-3 sound very good here thanks for the comparison!
both pedals are good, but the new one has much more possibilities, I would buy OD-1X ... nice and useful review , thank you ...
Both sound good. OD-1X is more malleable for certain situations. For me, OD-3 and BD-2 are the best price/sound relation of the Boss "Overdrives" . Work very well without any mods and last forever. Obvious... there are tons of better pedals out there but this boss OD's, sounds just perfect on my old solid state Roland JC-120 and on my new Vox AC15C1, and cover my all humble needs.

Emiliano Grzona haha I COMPLETELY disagree with you:P tried both and the od-1x is useless for my personal needs, but the Od-3 is perfect! It's a matter of taste, but od-1x is not in any way superior, just different. When we talk price, they are just 20$ of electronics mashed together, just like any other pedal. It's all about marketing!
OD3 sounds cheap ,sorry but that's the truth.OD 1X is dynamic and have many different sounds thanks to the superior sound processor and the two band eq.
Yes... truth... Because sound is not at all subjective! I guess that is why every pro out there uses the exact same gear! Imagine if people actually had different opinions :P Just ask Clapton, Hetfield, Bonamassa, Ford and Kerry King. OD-1X into a hot rod deluxe. No other way really!

OD three is one of those pedals that once it discontinues it'll get jacked up to three hundred bucks.
BOSS OD-1X was more crisp and defined. OD-3 mushier,slower and muddier bottom IMO.

I have both, and like them both. but I like the Od3 just a bit better. Its not with such a wide range of tones, but what it has is just right.
I too got both and like them both a lot after my Simble...( the Boss OD-1Xs price is going up: 180€! )😎
At the store here, the Boss OD-1X is $99 (Canadian dollars), and the Boss OD-3 is $139.99 (Canadian dollars). (Aug.6th 2017) - Knowing guitar logic, that makes the Boss OD-3 better. The OD-1X used to be $169.99, so it used to be better.

The od3 may have an analog circuit but to me its always sounded solid state and static in feel..I would take the OD1x in a heartbeat...More flexible too !
It depends if you want a good sound or a bad sound.If you want a good sound you should go with the OD-3 of course and if you want to sound bad go with the OD-1X.It's really up to you.

From this demo I'd prefer the old one. Less harsh and farty in the trebles. But the OD-1x is said to be much more dynamic. Think I'm gonna check this out in a store.
Obydwa są świetne ale chyba OD-1X jest o deko pełniejszy... Spoko stroje. Wole te zamiast DS-1.

bom, a única diferença que eu vi foi que o OD-1X tem como regular o low e o high separadamente. E o OD-1 não tem. Diferença de som não tem. Isso depende da equalização da guitarra no amp.
I tHINK I like the 0D3 slightly better for bluesy modern rock sound.

The analogue OD-3 wins hands down. It's so weird that digital TRIES its best to sound like the analogue... but when the analogue is still available why go digital? I wonder if the extra dials make the digital more desirable for most people? It's almost like saying I'd prefer a copy of the original rather than the actual original oil painting.
Imho, when a company like Boss makes new pedals, the new pedals must have better sound than the old ones !!! But that's not happening with this one !!! I'll stick to the old OD-3 !!!

That was easy.If you want to sound good go with the OD-3.If you want to sound less good and less"real"the OD-1X is the one for you.
OD-1X has that digital fizz...
Od-1x by a mile. Bass is tighter and cleaner, doesent have that god-awful mid spike, and the treble is useful through it's entire range.The od3 is one big smear on the bottom with a mid boost. All boss overdrives pretty much sound the same with exception of the bd2 . The od1x is miles beyond all of them, and im gettin me one.
Nah the od-3 is much more open and less compressed than the sd-1, which also has a higher gain than the od-3. The BD-2 also cuts out more high end and has a higher gain than the OD-3. They all sound different. Source: own all three and ran them all through spectrometers while playing with them.
@@gilgamessianic I do not have spectrometers, I have amps.Ive ran all thru plexi amp in live situations for years- they all pretty much sound the same at live levels pushing the amp. except bd-2. The od 1 x maintains a dynamic that none of them have. The bass region of the od-3 is similar to od1x but falls apart. The x maintains everything through the level range. Also MUCH quieter than any of the others. Im not a digital fan but the od1x just works. Im not saying the od3 is bad, its probably the best analog od boss has, but the x goes much further.
