how can you hate on someone succeeding after they worked for 14 years for it? can't deny i'm jealous of what he gets to do but maybe that's the problem for other men... they can't get over their jealousy and it makes them insecure
"How can you hate Joe Biden for being president? Hes wanted this his whole life and hes been doing this politics thing for 40 years, he deserves his flowers!" Is the level of stupidity you're operating on.
💯👏
Because they don't find him funny. That's very common in comedy.
Whenever you see a comedian bomb, the crowd usually becomes aggressive.
Say what you want about the guys success and handwork, but he's not a good comedian. He uses crowd work that most of the time relies on the audience member to be the one coming up with the joke and punchline.
His fan base is mostly female, also for a reason. Women will find him funnier because he's good-looking and charismatic.
Guys will find him less funny for that exact reason.
Being a comedian is the one job where you have to make yourself appear worse off than the audience, or they'll hate you.
Nobody goes to the successful guy to hear funny life stories. They go to the downtrodden.
Anyway, that's my personal opinion, he's been given easy laughs by women most his laugh which has heavily influenced his understanding of comedy
miserable people chronically online.
The hate for him definitely comes from insecurity. Lots of people work for decades and never see his level of success so they look for some excuse as to why he made it and they didn't. The easy answer is "he's just a pretty boy only appealing to girls"
I thought he was funny without even seeing his face. I think it was his crowd work that made me laugh.
same i love his crowd work
Same.
Watch literally anyone else, and you’ll see he’s terrible
Bro, you just proved Pat's point right about him only being popular because of his looks by women. The guy can definitely perform but I won't say he's a good comedian

Being handsome is a real privilege
Like one gets the choice on how they look when born.
@slurricrasher9923 nobody has a choice about anything regarding their birth lmao what is your point? It's a privilege, that's a good thing
It’s funny how being attractive is almost always a benefit in every situation, but here, Matt is almost criticized more because he’s attractive. Like he has to prove that he’s not just famous because of his looks, but because he’s genuinely funny and witty
I was thinking about this as well! It's like inverse pretty privilege. I've also noticed this in many "intellectual" professions: tech, academia, law, doctors.
Attractive to who, though ? Attractiveness is relative, so just labelling certain people as _"attractive"_ is odd.
Being attractive 1000% helped him get opportunities. Theres a reason they asked him to host TRL and not Stavros...
Exactly
Exactly
"He has no specific diet, but has the body of a male supermodel." He goes to the gym every single day. Can't fault the man's work ethic. No surprise he got so good at crowd work. Work ethic. Anyone else gets that good, they'll get booked too.
Lol yeah clearly they man works put consistently. When your a young man lifting weights you don't need a strict diet.
Are you really surprised that a guy who looks like the person who made this video thinks you need to eat certain things to build muscle? He probably hasn't done a physical job in his life.
@@MN-jw7mmand what makes you think that? because of the way he looks? Guy worked on this carrier for over 14 years if that's not hard work I don't know what is + he grew up in Ohio and was a farmer so yes he has worked a physical job
@@yuurrrrrrrr1 he's talking about Patric. Patric looks hella scrawny, from what we can see of his face and neck, so the guy you replied to makes the argument that Patric doesn't know what a young man needs to do to get a body like Matt Rife's
Lol yes you do. He is 28. I was a track mid distance runner my whole life and at 28 I balooned when i stopped working out. I was not even eating a huge amount. Its silly to think otherwise.
"When matt got his teeth fixed" shit that made me burst laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Honestly (woman here), thought he was gay
First time I heard of him was from a gay man.
Hopefully Rife is at least bisexual. He still has the face and hair of a child, which could potentially increase the fraction of men his age who are attracted to him, and decrease the respective women his age.
He has his own comedy style and he obviously did the work. Props to him.
So does Amy Schumer.
hey is actually funny tho...he is talent even i dont find him funny. Watch him on wildn and out. He witty at the say to the least.@@viper2help
@@viper2help Props to her too. Not my taste in comedy but she made it.
i've seen one of his specials. It wasn't terrible, and he's definitely a stronger joke writer than Dane Cook was. Rife also leans pretty heavily into making his looks front and center of his act. It'd be understandable if he mentioned this once or twice, but it gets repetitive after awhile
Talk about style 🤢
Crazy how I thought he was a new comedian but dang he has put in the work to be where he is. Props to him
I remember him being on wild n out not knowing who he was and now hes blown up, hes put in the work
Comedy in general has gained popularity in the past few years. One can make an argument he came in at the right time.
There's a saying that goes "it takes 10 years to become an overnight sensation." Entertainers such as comedians and musicians that are called "new artists" or "up and coming" have actually been doing what the do for a long time to master their craft or marketing before the finally become popular and gain mainstream attention. Only a handful of acceptions become popular immediately.
@@kevinsousa3370 In terms of music, you get those 'new' groups that break in that sound much like the current music trends. But when those trends sorta change and the 'new' group finds a way to adapt to the trend and get buzzed about, its no surprise why they were able to cash in.
Comedy hasn’t really had a boom in a while. As joe pera put it, this is the tail end of the second comedy wave

Facts. 💯 Bro is out there hustling and crushing it
I think his issue is the same for child actors with successful actor parents. Unless you are the best at it, nobody will beleive that the hard work you put in had anything to do with your success. For the child actor, no matter how good you are everyone will believe that you are successful because of your parents. And for him, no matter how good he is or how hard he's worked, everyone will be convinced he's successful because he's attractive. The fact that his main audience is women and the fact that his attractiveness is main thing those women mention about him, helps to prove that right. Do I find him funny, not really, but I don't mind listening to him for a little. But if I'm being completely honest I think his success is mostly due to women finding him attractive. But I'm not knocking him for it, whatever works for you. Plenty of men are successful because women find them attractive and most women are successful because both men and women find them attractive. It's just human nature nothing wrong with it so there's no reason to act like it isn't true.

I love how aware Matt is of who his audience is that is also helping him create dominance in his space very quickly
I dont know who he is and i'm 39, but from hearing the things that he talks about I can somehow relate to it, because girls also discriped me as "handsome" a lot and I can 100% confirm that the whole "just copy stupid stereotype situations and make it sound dumb by mocking it" is a very good way to break the ice, because it's all about creating an excuse for interaction. You can ask the most intimit things if you just say "what are you girls always saying?" before it and based on how she responds you know if you can score or if she is not interested.
I mean i would feel sorry for the "not a pilot" guy, but talking with her i might ask her the same thing to follow it up with "I'm also not a pilot, so if you want a pilot I'm not your guy" and I will INSTANDLY know if she was thinking about me having her or not. She is unsure? Just look at her and say "I'm sorry if i said something wrong... you're just so beautiful and i really like you" so you just overflow her brain with "happy thoughts" that her mind will tell her "do it... it's a good idea... he makes you happy and he is good looking... give it a try".
Dont hate the player... hate the game.
I Learned this from a friend who got a girl at a club but we changed location and i asked him "are you not sad that we left?" and he was like "nah... i just do my thing... i find another one" AND HE DID. Sure you need the looks or money (that can also buy you looks) but in the end having game is key. You cant score if you dont shoot

The guy isn't funny. But in my opinion, he isn't unfairly treated.
Compare him to someone like Sinbad, another unfunny comedian who gets alot of hate but not as much online because he isn't on there as much.
Matt began his career on TV but his real career started taking off from TikTok, because he's on the internet, of course he will get more hate.
But he's getting a crazy amount of love from his female fan base anyway. I'm guessing women just want him to continue without men judging him

The reason I think Matt Rife is funny is because a lot of his material comes from his audience. Comedians will sometimes ask questions and use some people as an example of how life is but Matt often times asking his audience multiple questions and get them more engage. Doing that makes it easier for him because he can improvise a joke and most of the time, everyone laughs, including the person he's making fun of.

Okay but he’s done a few things to make women uncomfortable. Let’s not make it seem like he’s perfectly fine just because he’s approached by many women or can be funny. But he’s definitely gotten too comfortable in that aspect by thinking he can push things farther than he should sometimes.

Eh. His material isn't for me but some of the comedians I have found genuinely funny aren't buzzed about by a large(r) fanbase. Much like music there is a business way to approach things given what you have to work with. And if he draws a crowd with mostly women and knows how to work them (and sell his content) then he's doing pretty well for himself. Some comics aren't really stand up masters but express themselves better in writing for TV or movies.

Here's the rub that a lot of people don't get: people are hating on him because he is being shoved in the faces of everyone on earth. It's not sustainable and not improving the comedy game - it's merging itself with social media to become a money-generating machine.

Comedy is in a great place for women and minorities specifically because of social media giving them exposure they wouldn't have had before due to being too "niche" for general audiences. If Matt Rife is the price to pay for that then it's not a big deal lmao
Daniel Tosh and Anthony Jeselnik are two of my favorite comedians, they’re good looking guys and fucking hysterical. Matt Rife does not make me laugh.
He’s not funny. I think he’s funny hypothetically and people like what he represents, being offensive, but he’s not this new age Carlin or Chappelle. People laugh cause they’re caught off guard or can’t believe he’s saying what he’s saying
I, a heterosexual married man, am apparently a woman, because I find Matt Rife HILARIOUS.
This video seems very personal for some reason. I am 16 and find the comedian really funny.
Same
Or you just have the humor of a 12 year old
You are, in fact, a woman.
@@enigmatictrashFr. No idea how anyone can find his comedy funny. Its the type of jokes you make around your college frat bros but it’s working. Maybe if he was ugly we wouldn’t even know his name
Don't get the hype. Bros not even that funny lol
Lol prophetic video.
He has his own comedy, he knows his target audience and he knows how to utilize his looks. Good for him!
You are right. I would give that to him.
this aged horribly lol. Literally didnt know his audience and his special is now at 4.9/10 on IMBD and 16% on Rotten Tomatoes
This aged like milk.
... and he knows how to ruin his career in a week 🥲
@@HiThereLindseyHe weeded out the unhinged females that were there to look at his jawline. There’s a reason the special was called “Natural Selection.” He’s definitely not going anywhere but you’re welcome to keep dreaming about it 😂
Patrick! 4:45 - You are out of order for reading that personal statment exactly how it was written 😂😂😂😂😂
The whole thing was..
I don’t like his standup but calling him a tiktok comedian is wild considering he’s been known in the comedic world for a while and has had a passion since a kid. Not to mention he gained a lot of attention and fame on wild n out. Can’t knock the hustle
Keep Winning Young King🤟
“Most iconic comedians are ugly”
Puts non-iconic Stav on screen. Wow what a back handed compliment 😂
The whole vibe I get from him is- "I am sexy and I know it".
This sounds personal my guy 😂
Matt has some solid material and has put time in.
saying that crowd work is the hardest comic style is the funniest part of this video
I'm a guy and me and my guy friends had a two hour drive and listened to one of his specials. It took a while to ease in but after 15-20 minutes in we were dying of laughter. Dude is honest hilarious and when he does crowed work his ability to come up with things on the spot and still funny is impressive.

U go girl
@@kushy1297u obviously a Biden voter 😂😂 don’t watch him if u don’t got a sense of humor simp😂😂

If Matt came out in the early 2000’s then no doubt he would’ve been a star. People would’ve loved him back in the day
I can imagine a Boondocks episode making fun of his corny ass, touching Zendaya like that🤣
same for this era.. oh wait haha
They seem to love him now…
He is a star now… what was the point of this comment 💀
@@DeliManagerRLhe wouldn't have made it in the 90s. Eddie Murphy, Bernie Mac, George Carlin…he wouldn't make it past wild n out! He is in the right generation for being famous.
Do an update, this is such an interesting video with the hate his special is getting. This whole video talks about his dynamic with the crowd, which is wild considering what his latest special is
No way you called Katt Williams a promising young comedian made big by Nick Cannon
So he is genuinely a great dude. When he came to the theater I manage, my wife made him a tye-dye as a gift from her company, and this guy put it on for his set that night. I will always support the humble artists.
she never made you one tho
Ur a simp bro.
Ur wife wants to sleep with him like most (especially older) women and u let her give him a gift?
Turn ur man card in.
Sheeesh, the amount of bot farm comments under this vid is mind blowing, a sure fire guarantee he's an industry plant and the "success" of this comedian most certainly didn't happen organically, but the stupified masses will eat it up like good, obedient little sheep they are.
@@truthhurts2879quit being butt hurt because he rejected you or something old lady & go actually do something with your life that doesn’t involve hating on the younger generation like all the weirdos your age do🤦🏾♂️
As a "gift from her company"? Riiiight. Maybe that's what she told you but that ain't why she did it. :P
the guy found his audience and he's thriving
good for him
His college football letter is arguably his biggest red flag
Shocking how easily the average person can be entertained.
Plot twist: Matt is secretly gay
Mark my words when he comes out of the closet in the near or distant future.
He’s definitely a Metrosexual to the 10th degree, but Idk about gay.
Patrick did not get the right agreeable audience for this one😂
agreeable on what?
That the dude ain’t funny lol and just rides off ladies liking him.
Fr comedy fans are as whiney and vocal as k-pop fans. They get so butthurt if people have different opinions
Just because 200 people on youtube disagree doesn't mean he is wrong. He is 100% right. Being popular does N O T equal being talented.
LMAOO the longbeachgriffy comment 😂😂
@4:44 the way you read that I'm dying 😂😂
Zendaya looked at him like “you ain’t no damn Spider-Man”
