- My 3-year-old daughter is obsessed with construction equipment, ESPECIALLY excavators. I decided to interview her about it and see if maybe I could learn something along the way.

My name's La Guardia Cross. I make music, art, film, and I co-created 2 baby girls with my wife, Leah.
New Father Chronicles began in November of 2014 when my daughter Amalah was 1-week-old. I had no idea what I was doing, so I decided to chronicle my journey on CZcams and make fun of myself along the way. Our 2nd daughter, Nayely, was born in April of 2017.
My channel is filled with the silly adventures I have with my girls, infant and toddler interviews, my interpretations of their babble, silly skits, and the things I've learned or unlearned as a parent. Sometimes Leah and I mix it up a bit and share some pretty personal moments as well. Why? Well, we're far from perfect and we've learned a lot from our mistakes. - Komedie

Amaya quizzing dad...he doesn't know. I love her facial expressions. Lololol "It's too small" Dad having a tantrum. I love hearing her talk...and she so intelligent. Notice how she uses her hands to express herself. Mommie and Daddy are the coolest parents ever!!!
I work for a big construction company in Holland and today I saw a ‘graafmachine’ (dutch word for excavator) and I was like “excavator!!!!” All my colleagues were like 🤨? I will make Amalah famous in Holland Haha.

Amalah saying machinery did not shock me. Her knowing about exhausts impressed me. She is very smart. Also I like how you and Leah are encouraging her and allowing her to play with toys that some say are for boys only. She is having fun and learning at the same time. Good Job. I wonder what Nayely will like when she turns 3.

Cee Lee this is so true. My daughter had all kinds of toys, from army men ( one time she positioned them to protect her hamsters lol) to dinosaurs, to dump trucks.

Aleta B what do you mean? I thought her point was clear. It's a good thing for girls to do things that are traditionally things that boys do. Isn't that the way off the world now? Why do boys get to have all the fun?
If you want to see me take it the wrong way then, here you go. What's wrong with being a girl? Is "girl stuff" less than? Is the only way girls can see themselves as valuable, is to be boys? You women have life messed up. Instead of gaining the respect of men for what you do as women, you seek to prove that you can be men. Lol that's backwards as hell and very insecure. Men aren't trying to prove our value to women by doing things that women do. Yet women feel the need to show they can do anything men can do instead of sticking to what makes women great. Pushing this narrative onto the children is contributing to the breakdown of society and making women competition for men rather than mates for men. Y'all don't see it though so keep on doing what you do lol.

Oh my goodness she's getting so big. I remember when she'd be saying a bunch of nonsense and now she's forming complete sentences and using big words. My little sister just turned 7 this past weekend and I'm telling you it is INSANE how fast they grow up. Every time I see her she's older and smarter. Hang onto these days when she's still little. 😭

Thank you, Leah and La Guardia, for not limiting Amalah's interests and for allowing her to go all in. I, too, was like Amalah when I was a kid and I eventually became an engineer. Please continue to explore your daughters' interests with them. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for them!

I know of some construction companies that have them but not individuals. They're so expensive that your average person doesn't own one.
Many Junior League chapters throughout the country host a Touch a Truck fundraiser as an opportunity for small kids to not only see large trucks but to also sit in them and honk the horns. Entrance costs are usually minor (~$5). Hopefully, your local chapter has this event. I think your kids will enjoy it. Otherwise, many construction companies would be happy to host a cute kid who is interested in their industry at such a young age. I'd definitely target companies that are women-, Black-, or women-and-Black-owned firms.

Ruthlyn Aaron I so glad you said all those wonderful opportunities. Some folks get stuck in what are considered "traditional" career roles for girls or boys. I'm so happy LaGuardia & Leah don't fall into those traps. That mini excavator is so cool! I was watching for Leah to have to cut him out that vest😂😂
