For anyone wondering how the controller functions can be used in situations where six-axis is used, in the upward motion just press L3+R3 together and it will work in place of moving the controller upward.

What’s great about this Godfather game is that the game mechanics make total sense when compared to other games like Scarface. In Scarface, Tony micromanages everything, doing works that most leader would delegate to their henchmen. At first, it works in the beginning since Tony had nothing to begin with and has to work his way to the top. Yet, after building a decent size empire, you’re telling me I still have to pick up the drop off cash myself, defend the stores myself, buy the supply myself, etc?
It works with the Godfather, since you are the henchmen so you’re doing what the Don had paid you to do.
i mean even a capo had guys under him that they send to go do things which is what godfather 2 focused on but limited themap size and really nerfed the businesses u could extot also putlittle effort in side stuff and kept it tedious, the godfather dons edition was a brilliant addition to the game and experience the 2nd game is good and has good mechanics but it just didn't live up to the size that the first game was just a shame you couldn't at least manage a crew or whatever the higher up u go instead of one guy lol
It was a pain to do drug deals and catch all the $ at the property's. Scarface did do alot of things great though
I guess since you are still just a soldier well into the game but after Michael returns and you become a capo makes no sense for the player to still be beating bakers, tailors and flower shop owners to make a living or be the one in the frontline of every hit and every bombing, also it makes little sense how many capos every family had, they had so many of them that you encounter them protecting second rate venues or maning the car barricades of distribution hubs or compounds, the work of low-level grunts.
Is sad to see that some movie franchise-based video games can't be found on digital stores anymore due to Licences problems.
This and the Scarface Videogame are examples on how to make a fun video-game, and you can enjoy them without knowing a thing about the original source.

I am surprised this game has a following still in 2023. I remember playing this on PS2 with my dad and thought id revisit it on my PC and to my surprise still has a huge following over 15 years later

Agreed. Most importantly, in Dons edition you actually have a crew and a follower. You can now unleash a large mafia war, during vendettas. 10/10
Also, I highly recommend you use a standard Xbox controller for PC, it works perfectly and you can customize the controller however you want :)

Mafia II is a masterpiece, but I find this game to be more Fun and Replayable, thanks for this guide, even if I'm playing it on the PS3 by downloading a ISO haha( I don't know if I have the DLCs °~°), I thank you because you are helping people to play this amazing game.

This is the quintessential Mafia game. Just the fact you can literally take over the entire city and work your way up to Don was perfect.

I’d just installed the original ps2 version the other day on my steam deck and was disappointed I wasn’t getting the total package, saw this videos and it worked a treat, thanks a ton!

now, we can say that the godfather don's edition is a great game, well made and really fun to play. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in mafia games, but it's no better than mafia 2. even if the godfather game makes you feel like a gangster, mafia 2's story in mafia video games is hard to beat. Even if Mafia 2 doesn't have the mechanics of taking family businesses, for me it's still better. I think so (if it was irony, sorry, I didn't understand it)
i played through godfather1 on pc recently and regretted not knowing about the ps3 dons edition version. I downloaded it just to see it and it looked much better than the original
Thank you for exposing so many to this masterwork of a game. My copy has the "Making of" documentary. It interviews James Caan, Abe Vigoda, and Robert Duvall. This game had an actual premiere. A MOVIE premiere! This licensing thing sucks. I want to play the dlc. But you did show me how to get the annihalator from Luca Brasi. Thank you for that. My ps3 is too new. Wow. Salut, Bravo, Prost! Truly a good Samaritan type of endeavor here my friend. One of my fav games of all time, never even knew about Blackhand & The Don's Edition. Without this video I'd never be able to play them. Really appreciate it, now ill be able to play this GOAT and even have new stuff + better graphics, def earned a subscriber.

recently they brought an update that you can play with keyboard and mouse but the game crashes most of the time while you're playing !!

If only somebody could make a mod to port The Don's Edition features to the PC version.
But I don't think that's possible due to the lack of modding tools and the hardcoded files.
Godfather PC modding has made some progress thanks to Greavesy! You can now replace textures and play as custom models.
@@MafiaGameVideos Would be cool if we have some sort of script mods in the future to play like The Don's Edition. More missions and bodyguards would be a good start.
If you can't get the dlcs, you can still get the annihillator from Luca Brasi. At the beginning. Your first 5 respect points need to be used on intimidation (level 5). On your first mission, when youre in the barbershop, get Luca to draw his gun, then keep hitting him until he drops it.
although i loved the dons edition, the ps2 is my goat just cos in the beginning scene with aldo, its in an alley way and not a rooftop, I dunno maybe its cos I started wth the ps2 version but ps2 version is prolly the veteran difficulty since u cant have a bodyguard with u but in all I agree with u

There's a certain mission that requires a PS3 or PS4 controller with sixaxis motion input. Unfortunately I can't progress past this point 😔

Right at the end of the PPU module compilation, a few errors come up and the there is only a black screen. I cleared the caches many times and it's always the same error messages. Perhaps the ISO from Vimm's Lair ir broken :(
EDIT: Seemingly FIXED it. I was extracting the folder to another path, but this time, I simply extracted the folder in my "Downloads" folder, right were the .rar file was. This way, it seemed to save all files and let me load it no problems!

So guys I use Xenia and rpcs3 daily and although this method works fine you do need an extremely powerful cpu like for example my friend has an i3 12100f and It doesn’t work and I have an i7 5820k 4.0ghz and it works like a charm. Newer cpu architectures struggle on rpcs3. Btw Xenia is much much more better and stable than rpcs3 so I recommend playing games there. Also it is to note that rpcs3 has many compatibility issues while Xenia has none. You need 16gb ram and a you with more than 3gb vram.

You have to throw the guy in the grave thats near. From that you can just thrown people by moving both sticks in the direction. You can complete without sixasis

This game was ahead of it's time i played the ps2 version back in 2006 and it was a realy good game. I Didn't know about the don's edition because i turned to pc since 2009. But in 2021 i played it on rpcs3, the game was increadble and i enjoy it so much even more than modern games. Today's games is getting more childish and boring just super graphics.
I'm hoping one day we'll have mods that bring PS3 graphics and content to PC version, just like what modders did with GTA

I was using some other software to begin with and it ballsed the game up.
Try using winrar if you're not already

60fps patch breaks a core mechanic of the game, and you will never receive payday. Something I would have thought important to mention.
I still have my original game I bought in 2008. Never played the dlc. But I know this game inside out. Does anyone out there know about taking over the Barzini hub in Brooklyn? After you take over the Tattaglia compound, then takeover the hub, then take over the Barzini businesses in Brooklyn. Then go back to the hub and deliver the truck to the Brooklyn business. $75,000 everytime you do this. In 15 min. You'll have $400,000.
yea i love it, i dislike this emulator compared to the other ones.
but this was the only one i got godfather to work on.
rpcs3 takes long for things compared to others but it seems more games are compatible that i couldnt get working on xenia.
Ubisoft games barely work on xenia emulator but they work on this one besides ac rogue io had.

Well followed this tutorial, was really enjoying playing this game again for the first time in over 15 years then all the sudden RPCS3 kept failing an update so as it suggested, I reinstalled and all my save data was gone. RIP to those hours of my life. Any advice on ways to save the game data of the actual saves you make in game or save states using crtl+s on RPCS3 somewhere alternatively so I can prevent this in the future?

i just cant pirate it but its fucked that you cant buy it form the company anymore. when they bought the license they should have had it for life. i loved playing godfather 2 and still have it on xbox 360 but unfortunately never got to try the first game.
