Finally a User focused Review! No tech specs bullshit no boring numbers comparison. Just plain simple user experience take on the ROG Ally.
I miss these kinds of reviews.

Lol brain dead take
I'm glad these consoles are becoming more popular. I really need to get one.
Buy the ROG ally if you want a desktop replacement, 1080p 60 to 120 FPS in triple a games with the Z1 extreme Chip, AND 120hz Screen that can fit in a small bag with XG Mobile RTX 4090, RTX 3080 and RX 6850 for 4k ultra at 60 to 120 FPS. Avoid the steam deck unless your play Indie games at 10 watts with 3-4 battery life or triple a games at 25 to 40 FPS at 800p đ€ź

@@undisturbed809 < this man knows squat about the steam deck, down let him deter you, I can play all my triple a games on my steam deck comfortably, and some even run at 60fps... the screen looks great too, it's not an ally but it's really good in its own right, and I can get over 3 hrs in triple a games on my deck while you can't even hit 2hrs on the ally... they both are great devices in there own rights but neither is better than the other
Buy Nintendo switch OLED u will love it
I have a Deck! I love it. The ally looked cool but was out of my budget, especially as a person with a few computers already. Iâm just so excited to see where this handheld PC gaming market goes, it can only get better from here.
Sell ur deck.
@@MoeFokah selling my Deck but no buyers yet and just waiting till tuesday for my Ally's delivery.

Iâm so excited for your new videos you always look so adorable in them đđ„°đđđžđđ„č
Seen lots of videos about Ally and this is by far best video for quick over view.
i think it was a pretty nice video, iJ. this Asus Ally seems pretty cool.
The ROG ALLY is tough. Nuff said. Such an amazing piece of hardware on a tech level. Same as the Steam Deck as well.
I have a deck and am too attached to it to part with it, but it's nice to see that there's more affordable options in the handheld pc market.
I love you

I like how you just enjoyed playing the game without even noticing the graphics quality or grinding best FPS out of it like many other CZcamsrs. FPS is important to me as long as you notice it is very low by playing it without any FPS counter.
welp
lol if people dont care about graphics and fps they might as well buy a 100 dollar laptop with uhd 500 and play games at low settings and 10 fps lmao. The literal reason this thing exists is to enable playing games at high settings and decent speeds. The fact that she dont notice graphics and framerate shows a lot about the quality of the review. She should have at least shown the framerate graph with rivatuner
@@GamingIntelCoreM-y i think you misunderstood what i tried to say. Checking whether a game is playable and squeezing each FPS from a game without enjoying it are different things. For example, cyberpunk is perfectly playable at 60 fps medium/high settings. But always looking at the fps counter to see if you are getting that 1-2 fps more for tweaking your pc for 1 hour is different. And yes, if I enjoy playing indie games only, maybe $100 pc is all I need? Obviously games that get below 30 fps are mostly unplayable, and you can tell that without any fps counter or benchmark. But i was saying about those people that care whether you are getting 120 fps or 125 fps lol.
The generate is bad on a lot of games
@@GamingIntelCoreM-ythis device is more so to enable on the go pc gaming, which very few devices right now do. usually people buy high end pcs or like a ps5 to play high quality games at a smooth fps. the games look decent without any noticeable fps drops so for most casual gamers it is fine to not care too much about that. other youtubers are probably comparing graphics of this thing whereas justine isnât interested in that.

It's impressive, I'm glad it plugs into a TV because I'm the weirdo who bought a Switch and over years have only used it handheld twice I think.
Yeah the plug in to a tv feature is so nice. I'm planning to use that a lot with Turbo mode and plugged into a charger. I don't even have smart tv, but with this thing i can do miracles. Lmao
That's one of the reasons I want one and then I got my steam deck for on the go gaming with better battery life
I canât wait to play mine on Tuesday!!! đ„łđ
Just nice having a powerful handheld worthy of all new higher output graphic games, that you can easily bring with you somewhere else and plug into any TV.
U really are the Queen of Techsđ
Preordered mines. Canât wait to compare with my steamdeck
Aloha Justi great video like always. Did you purchase the Rog Ally? Or you previewing? Its a great handheld however the battery life is so darn short. Iâm looking forward to always new videos.đđŒ
It's not even out yet, of course she's just reviewing it. Asus sent it to her.
Asus ROG Ally is a beast! Best handheld gaming PC. Pre-ordered mine can't wait until the 13th
I got the 2 tb 2230 and 1 tb micro sd on standby with the dock charger , ally case and 3 year best buy warranty ! I hope it's worth the hype . 1300 $ later I work a week at a time away from society on a boat . So it's small but mighty power is a plus for me traveling half the year . Can't wait to emulate on this thing đ
ââ@@youngjustin82 Yeap did the same thing, got the 3 year warranty as well, can never be too careful, if would be smart to get the protection incase you drop it or something bad happens to it. I did the latter though, i ended up buying 2 1TB PNY Pro elite v2 3.2 Gen 2 flash drives loaded them with as many games as they could fit, bough be 2 way usb type c splitter for charging and the drives. Speeds on the drives are insane 600MBs/500MBs, i might upgrade the internal ssd at a later time. Seems counter intuitive but the sd card seems slow in comparison. But i dont mind it, well see at a later time how that fairs, ill probably buy an sd card just for test measures. Can't wait for the Ally 3 more days 3 more days.
I'm enjoying the Rog Ally alot and I love the system so much.
Can yoouu addd me on Nintendo switch

if you set the ally up to turn it display off when docked you get a bit more performance for docked

WHOAHH I NEED THIS
I would like to see her review the steam deck. I bought one. Love it. But I also pre-ordered the Ally. Ultimately I don't want to b tied down to steam only games
Same here
They should come out with an update with the Asus where the main device goes to sleep mode while your plugged into the big screen but overall itâs a super cool device đ
Windows already has that mode, you just have to enable it.
It is basically a windows pc, so what you can do with your laptop, you can also do with this.
@@tomaramash9949 oh, okay
Do you think it is worth buying it plays games like Control, Uncharted 4, Last of Us Part 1, Tomb Raider series of games, Witcher 3 and Fallout Series along with Doom Eternal and MK11. Those are games I play
Hi Ms. Justine is it worth it to buy?
I'm picking mine up today! It's possibly going to replace my gaming laptop, but that is TBD
Hope you like it!!
Just wish the screen would black out when in âdock modeâ love this handheld! Great vid!
Doesn't windows have an option to display on only an external monitor if it's plugged in?
Yes would be nice if it did so automatically but you can do it manually in Windows :)
It can black out whilst in dock mode
You don't actually get 512 of storage since windows uses some of that space. After I set mine up an updated it there was only 427 gigs left.
Which is better overall performance Asus ROG Ally/Steamdeck/Nintendo Switch/Chinese Gaming Handhelds and why please?
I still love the keyboard and mouse on call in duty/similar war games
I got a Steam Deck for $400, which is the base model, and I could play Watch Dogs 2 for like 3-4 hours on it by reducing some of the settings. I beat the entire game exclusively on my Steam Deck. Same goes for Horizon Zero Dawn. I don't really see spending $700 on this thing. My Steam Deck also makes me hands feel numb when I hold it too long anyway, and this looks like the same size. As a lady with with small lady hands, my Nintendo Switch is my favorite device and it's not even close.
Hi there I have the Ally and how did you get your Ally to run on your TV ? Also I have a moniter and I tried to dock the Ally with the Jsaux dock and it's not working... not sure what the problem is
Thatâs so awesome. !!! đđđđđđđđ
Hands down could this be one of the best handheld games console hahah... Great vid well explained described thanks.
The only problem for me atleast is that battery life.
â@@JDabz96it will improve, AMD working on low voltages optimisations + Auto TDP will be featured by Asus soon.... It will have better performance at low TDP + better battery life at high TDP
@@TRX25EX yea and worst case scenario, Ally 2 will improve big time on battery. Especially if Ally 1 becomes super mainstream and sells well
i see that when you are playing on TV ,the screen for rog ally is also showing/running the game, like windows can i choose to display only on one screen and play like this? i felt bit distracting .
I bought the Steam Deck first but I did end up purchasing the ASUS Rog Ally on a whim. I love gadgets so I wanted to own it too. I do like how the Rog Ally is lighter and better graphics.
Thank You
I got a deck myself. You should enjoy that!
VERY cool handheld PCđ±đđđ„đ„đ„ I wait to is being a OLED screen I am so satisfied, and happy to play on my OLED Nintendo SwitchđȘđđ
I love my ROG Ally!!! Itâs a beast
I pick mines up today. In Bart Scott's Voice. CAN'T WAIT!!!
Right on
That's cool
Big, not that light and no track pad. Tried it at BB and I think I will stick with the SD
Do you have a link to that controller? Looks awesome!
1080p 60 fps is enough for me. I donât need over the top performance. I use 1080p 60 fps on my ps5 too.
Can you tell me what kinda games you play cuz I feel like we have similar tastes in games
Awesome Rog ally.
I love the Steamdeck and Ally. But seriously for $700 they could do better than, "a little cardboard stand". Steamdeck at least comes with a case.
How do you think this would compare to the legion ?
Are you going to do a comparison between the switch because I used to watch your videos and you used to play on your switch so please do make a nice comparison video
Can u play survival games on the ally ? Like project winter and raft would love to play the day before if it ever comes out
Can't wait to get mine
OLED switch is better
The Asus Ally is compellingly to me, only for Windows 11 instead of Linux.
But I pre-ordered the Steam Deck and had to wait a long time for it, so I think I'll just buy it when it's released.
Do you need special adapter to plug into tv?
Haven't got the money until the 20th so hopefully it's still in stock by then
GAMING PC ON THE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Recently switched to PC gaming (RTX 4090) within the last year. This will be great to play any of my current PC games (at much lower settings) on the go. However, my only concern is how well will ASUS provide firmware for this. I do not want this to be a device that gets very few firmware updates because ASUS wants to focus on a yearly (or 2 year) cycle with this.
I ordered 2 of these. But yes i see Asus ditching updates once they release the Ally 2 in about 2 years. So ill just buy 2 of those a year later
fwiw, i've been looking at these handheld PCs... i've settled on sunshine/moonlight and use my phone as a display
My PC does the heavy lifting, my phone is essentially a wireless monitor and passes my controller to the pc
the latency is minimal, ther FPS is identical to using the PC and battery life is miles better than the handhelds
I got mines today canât wait to set it up.. I want something I play Fortnite on without having to mod my device, too bad on steam deck you have to do that
It may have been finally discarded in a move some time ago but I think I might even still have the cigarette lighter adapter for the GameBoys.
i might have to get this
You would think for the price that they are charging you would get a case included at least
I got a case with my 400$ steam deck lol... I can play any game I want on my deck. I got 1.5tb of storage on it too, and dual booted windows, I can play cod mw2 at a locked 60 on a handheld... the ally for the price should be a lot better, it's 300$ more, I just wish they would improve the battery on it.
Thatâs a huge handheld!
Justine attempting to drive in Forza Horizon 5đđđ
I love this thing.
I gave up gaming on PC's in the 90's (felt too much like work life) but remained familiar with Windows. As I have Game Pass for PC through Game Pass Ultimate on Xbox and some Digitally purchased 'Play Anywhere' games in my Library, I have a Library of games instantly available to download or play via cloud very easily and may well re-introduce me to PC gaming and Steam, Epic and all the other games and providers there are on PC. Therefore this device appealed to me when it was revealed with Xbox support so I pre-ordered. I may even get the 'eGPU' to dock with my 4k TV and it could possibly replace my Series X...
Those egpu docks are crazy expensive on top of the 700$ I may as well get desktop pc at that point
@@JDabz96 but you cant take your desktop PC with you everywhere around the house or traveling. And while Laptops are a great option and slay the Ally, they do take up way more room than the Ally/GPU would in a backpack. Plus this leaves a much tinier footprint wherever it is setup
@Eros I see your point, that's pretty sick to be honest, on the go pc and a even more powerful docked beast.
@@JDabz96 They are 'expensive' and are only a 'Laptop' version of the GPU too but not everyone wants to be tethered to a desktop, wants to be sat in front of a keyboard and monitor (too much like being at work) etc.
The point of this 'set-up' is to have the flexibility of the Handheld Gaming console but be able to dock it to a '4k 120hz VRR' TV and 'boost' the Picture Quality to suit the Display.
Its like the Switch - handheld offering lower PQ/Performance due to Battery only power delivery. You can buy a charging dock that delivers a 'bit' more power, suitable maybe for 1080p displays, but if you want 'more', the eGPU can bring RTX4090 (inc DLSS3.0 and its RT/AI Tensor Cores) to what is essentially a 'handheld' device.
By comparison, my RoG Zephyrus Duo (with a 'Mobile' version of the RTX3080ti) cost me nearly double what a RoG Ally and a RoG XG Mobile 4090 would cost me - yet I'd be lucky to get 2hrs of running a game at the 'best' specs and its still sat in front of a Keyboard and screen. I'd rather take the RoG Ally on trips, holiday etc and the eGPU dock than my Laptop...
Desktops may be the 'ultimate' in terms of Performance etc, but they don't suit everyone and take up a LOT of space too.
I have the steam deck which im gaining to my cousin but i also preorder this and I bought the Logitech g cloud for remote playing ps5 and steam link when my asus rog ally needs charging
Just wait till FSR 3.0 and the Windows handheld update hit the market, they will make the Ally the perfect handheld!
If windows handheld mode is actually great, the ally would be even more amazing.
Beautiful đ
Can someone explained how to connect the controller to the asus wirelessly ? I tried Bluetooth and found the only way the controller works is plugged in directly
Literally just opened mine!!!
I'm still waiting for my Ally. Some people got theirs 2 weeks ago. So unfair. Mine is arriving next week. đ„
I don't think it's out yet đ€
@@isaacolukanni some people got them delivered a week early by mistake
Some people got their Ally's because they are reviewers.
I was absolutely set on getting one of these or a Steam Deck, and then some small HTPC upgrades gave a massive boost to my Steam Link performance.
also good to note that windows said they'll update windows to be more friendly with portable devices such as being able to put on standby with instant start upon pressing the power button just like the steam deck.
