This video shows you how to use a free online program called Canva to make a standard size greeting card with your own artwork that you can print and send to your friends.
Great video!!!! I watched about 4 videos trying to find someone who could explain HOW the digitally created card would come out correctly when printed. I knew it was simple, I was just over analyzing! Subscribed and liked, now time to scour through the rest of your videos!
Excellent video!!! Girl you just saved my life! I am making aprogram for my church and your video helped so much. Please continue to make more videos! God bless you love.
You are welcome, Erika! And thank you for your kind message. I will definitely make more videos now, please let me know if there is anything you would like me to make one about. God bless you too.
Not always easy ;) I hope you figured it out. Sometimes there is an option for 'print using system dialogue', and when you choose that, you will be able to find the double sided option. I will try to make a video about printing. :)
I would like to have seen the printed card. They way you did this, once folded the image on the front won’t be centered, the right side will be closer to the fold line.
Thank you, Christopher! I had not noticed that. You can fix it by making the image smaller and moving it over to the right. The space in the centre needs to be twice as large as the space on the outside. I will try to make a corrected video soon!
I'm making greeting cards. Can I rotate an entire card (canvas)? *** My front page is on the top and my back is on the rear. I want to ROTATE the entire card to get the opposite appearance (as I work on it).*** Not just an image but the entire card. Great video. Thank you!!!
Hi there, this was great, thank you. Can I ask - when i create my card can i download it as a printable on etsy? I'm a bit worried about the photo quality if its from an iphone. Can i make my iphone pictures of my art into 300dpi? Thank you Paula
Hi Paula, thank you for your question. I don't know about uploading cards to etsy, sorry. There is an app for iPhone that allows you to change the DPI here: apps.apple.com/us/app/dpi-dots-per-inch/id1376445792 I hope that helps, and good luck! :)
Great question, Irene! You can use a ruler to find the centre of the card and make very light pencil marks at the top and bottom. Then place your ruler along the centre line, using your two pencil marks to guide you. Then run a 'bone folder' (see below *) along the ruler, being careful to hold the ruler and the paper steady. This makes an indent, which makes it easier to fold the card and prevents creases and cracking. The indent will be along the outside of the card. *If you don't have a bone folder, you can use any hard object with a narrow edge that won't cut - the back side of a butter knife, for example. You can find bone folders at many craft centres.
Excellent video, thank you! Now, how can I insert music on a card? which format should it be downloaded in? *.mp4? Cheers and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Posadas, Feliz Navidad, Próspero Año y Felicidad...
What a wonderful question! I had not even thought about adding music. I found a way to add video and share the card as an ecard using a link. I haven't checked audio files, but I think you will need to add a video with music, because I don't see an option for audio. I don't think you can download the card with the video/audio. Here is a link to a card I made with video that has sound: bit.ly/2Sbq7GT I used the upload tab to upload my video. To get the link, I clicked on the down arrow next to print cards at the top right, and then I chose 'share link'. I then copied the link and used bit.ly to shorten it. Cheers and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Posadas, Feliz Navidad, Próspero Año y Felicidad...
I am trying to print my design on a already folded card. Do you know what dimensions I can use to set the card up on Canva (4x6) and are you familiar with printing on cards that come folded? Thanks in advance!
Hi Suad, thank you for your question. For setting your custom dimensions, you can choose inches (in). The default is pixels (px). Once you choose inches, you can enter 4X6 if you are making a landscape card, and 6X4 if you are making a portrait card. It should not be a problem that the card is pre-folded. You can unfold it, and use manual feed on your printer. When the card is feeding into the printer, it can help to put even and gentle pressure on the bottom of the card paper to make sure it feeds in evenly past the fold. Otherwise, the fold may cause the paper to jam or twist. Each page of your card will be divided in two halves: For the first page of paper, the first half of the paper will be the back of your card when the paper is folded, and the second half of the paper will be the front of your card when the paper is folded. For the second page of paper, the first half of the paper will be the left side of the card when the card is opened (usually blank), and the second half will be the right side of the card when the card is opened (sometimes has writing). When you are printing, make sure you know which side of the paper will get printed on (I mess this up all the time!), and print one page, and then re-insert the paper (carefully choosing which way to place it) to print the second side. You might want to do a test print on some plain printer paper to make sure you have your paper orientation the way you want it. I hope this helps! Feel free to ask more questions. Warm regards, Chelsea
I'm so sorry you are having trouble with the text coming on the wrong side. Is the text upside down? It could be you just need to put the paper in facing the other way.
Thank you for your question, Sharon! Canva has moved the custom layouts. If you choose 'Elements' on the left, you will see 'Grids'. Choose 'see all' and you will see the same custom layouts.

When spacing it just slides both sides away from center. It worked once, but I can't get all four sides to space equally now.

How do you have your cards printed? I've used Canva to print flyers and business cards, but I don't see any printing option for a custom layout.
I see an 'order prints' button at the top right - I have never ordered prints myself. I usually download and then print.

How can we print for the message to be inside the folded card? But not on the back of the front page photo. 😭
