I remember the first time I did the goldenglow mission. I'm sneaking into the hive area from the back, and a dragon attacks. I panic and accidentally burn down 4 of the hives and have to fight the dragon and all the hired mooks. Then I come back to Brynjolf yelling at me. Gee, sorry, but I think the dragon would have done more!
The catch, you can't burn the whole thing to the ground.
