  • Usually, when you see insect with a naked eye, it looks pretty clean, but it is actually dirty under the closer look. Watch how fluffy and dirty this Common wasp is.
    Common wasp (Vespula vulgaris), found in Zhytomyr, Ukraine.
    Why it wiggle? Wiggling makes it 3D! I did it on purpose, in hope to increase viewers depth and form perception.
    By the way! You can binge watch it all in various 3D formats using dedicated playlists:

    Why this video has so less view? It's a great piece of work.

    Excellent work. You deserve millions of views. What objectives are you using to have just 0.5mm across the frame?

      Thanks. I was using custom setup based on Canon 200mm with Nikon 10X microscope objective attached in front of it here: imgur.com/cfz2evm

      @@MacroLab3DNikon cfi is a nice objective. I am currently working on a similar project and was looking into the mitutoyo objectives but are extremely expensive. Your nikon cfi gives very nice sharpness already and I am already now thinking that the Mitus are an overkill and better save money on other things instead.

      Mitutoyo has more working distance which is critical. Buy Mitutoyo if possible.

    If this is shot with a microscope and not as I suspect computer rendered, why do the antennae appear transparent when viewed from the side?
    Mmm as a entomologist with many years experience I am not convinced this is a living image!

    • @Bass-guitarist
      @Bass-guitarist Před 4 lety

      If you look closely at 1:09 you can see the front right antennae transparent with the front right leg? Ive never seen this in all my experience shot with a living solid insect.

      Glad to meet an entomologist here :). This is a real wasp (as every other subject on the channel), shot using macro lenses 1-5X together with microscope lense 10X. Please consider transparent antennae a flaw (or glitch) of focus stacking technology, which was used to produce that resulting video.

      I am sorry for the confusion with antennae. I am trying hard to avoid that but it is not everytime possible. Antennae is not supposed to be transparent.

      MacroLab3D hi, I understand and I was about to compliment you on an amazing rendering! Lol, not sure what you use for stacking, I have tried Helicon, but my fav with far less artefacts is CombineZp by Alan Hadley, it is very good. Good work, if you had an email I would send you a sample shot of Vespula Germanica head.

      @@Bass-guitarist I am using Zerene Stacker. It is great stacker but i am limited in terms of editing, since i am shooting a video and have no time to edit each frame :). Also this is one of my early works, i believe i improved since then. Please watch my Mosquito video for progress ;). And yes i would like to see your shots, please send it on my email shown in "About" section of the channel. Thank you :)

    What is the name of this microscope and how much it cost?

    • @MacroLab3D
      @MacroLab3D  Před 4 lety +1

      This video was made using extreme macro technique called "focus stacking". You actually can`t reach that result using usual microscope.
