I asked My husband for a Dyson hair dryer, I guess he looked it up and was directed to the air wrap. So instead of showimg me he said are you sure its pretty pricy and yes even the dryer alone is not cheap. Needless to say miscommunication happened amd that is what I got for Christmas I was floored. That being said I love mime 😆

I struggled at first to use the dyson airwrap but after trial and error, I found what works for ME. Everyone on YT with dyson videos have different hair and will use the tool differently. It's all about learning what works for you 😊

Thank you for sharing this tutorial. I also got my Airwrap about two years ago, didn't like it and couldn't make it work. It wasn't until the pandemic last year that I found the extra time to play with it more, and now I love it! One of the main issues I had was that my hair was not wet enough. Now I only towel dry and let the styler do the rest. The blow out looks so much fuller / bouncier / smoother and lasts so much longer!
I wish Dyson came out with the set of the long barrels along with the original short ones so the consumer would pick either/or...love it but can’t afford it just yet. Hopefully in the future. Thanks for making this video & so glad you enjoy it now!!!
If you go to a dyson store you can request long barrels instead of short. I got all long with mine doing that

You could go for the customized option on dyson’s website and select long hair. It would then create a long barrel set. But they are mostly out of stock on customized options.

Despite being a full time accountant with a 6 figure salary and no real financial responsibilities- and I style my hair basically every day, I still simply cannot bring my head around to the idea of spending this much money on a hairstyling device... every time I consider it I’m shocked again by the price, it’s $800 in Australia

@@JennyWas13 if you don’t want to drop the cash, you really don’t have to. It’s not that life changing. However. Since i hot the airwrap, i gave away all other hair tools. I find that i get a nice result with this without damaging my hair as much. My fav tool is the smoothing brush. My hair ends up looking so smooth and silky. Not as straight as with straighteners, but i like my hair with a bit of volume. I usually finish with the round brush attachment. I hardly ever use the hairwrap attachments. I could defo do it all w my old tools. But i like having one box that does it all for me.
If i lost my airwrap set, would i replace it? Absolutely. I would however get the complete set for long hair. Sadly it wasn’t an option when i bought mine.

Kayley, you are the only ONLY person whose reviews i take as gospel. I'm so OG i used your code with NUME and still love that curler to this day. you are fantastic! you're curling tips are the only thing that has ever worked on my hair... my god cant believe i might consider buying this!
I feel like the airwrap is also a nice step towards universal design because it's not super hot so if you're visually impaired or don't have the physical dexterity to feel comfortable using a regular curling iron (or if you just have no idea how to use one and are terrified to burn yourself like me and my sister) it's a safer way to curl your hair. (If you want to know more stuff about universal design look up Molly Burke, she's a blind CZcamsr who is passionate about it. Feel weird mentioning a different CZcamsr on somebody's channel but like, visibility for the disability community is important & stuff)
never thought about that but yes one of the reasons I got the air wrap was because I was so afraid of scalding myself with a curling iron!
Definitely one of the top reasons for me getting the airwrap is not wanting burn marks all over my hands from the curling iron.

Haha I feel that frustration with wanting the rest of your hair to be like the back sections so much! My front sections are barely wavy (like maybe a 2B) and the back is fully curly, like ringlets with no product curly. The struggle is so real.
Same, the underneath of my hair is perfect ringlets and the top is wavy and the very front is more straight. 2 years of the curly girl method hasn't changed it so I've just learned to accept it and touch up the odd curl to have everything look a bit more cohesive or just wear it half up.
@@KMarie713 I had the same issue with the curly girl method, but recently I started using the viori shampoo and conditioner that Kaylee recommended if you do not want to make your own fermented rice water, and I am shocked how great my curls look. Not sure if you are still interested in doing a curly girl type method but this worked for me. Also I realized I have low porosity hair and I need to not work with soaking wet hair. That just doesn’t work for me. Anyway, just thought I’d tell you about this. Not sure if you are still interested in that method.
I have the same issue just straighter😂 my underside and some of the back are about 2B (my baby hairs are super duper ringlets also). But the rest of my hair is dead straight😤
@@KMarie713 yeah I just wear my hair half up when I want it to look extra curly 😂 it’s frustrating though because I love the curly bangs trend and I’d have great curly bangs if that section were anything like the nape of my neck lol

I think the most helpful part of this video is the perspective. Going into it realizing it isn’t a replacement for your curling iron. Couldn’t agree more! Excited to keep trying it.

Kayley since you have so much texture at the back of your head maybe you should do a series trying the Curly Girl Method and see what you can achieve! It would be a HUGE change for you but it would be great content and maybe you would eventually like the results too!

I have also recently discovered that the bottom back of my hair is wavy after having stick straight hair my entire life. One of the stylists at the salon I go to explained that it has to do with hormones and asked if I had recently had a baby or any major surgery. I hadn't, but I had switched to a stronger birth control pill and he said that would be the reason why my texture has changed. Apparently hormonal changes can also change your hair. I had no idea.
I appreciate that you have done an update on this. The only reason I would like one is because of the curling iron option but if that feature doesn't work very well then ...I mean what kind of people actually expect a product (especially one this expensive) to do what Dyson says it should do? Answer...people that pay this ridiculously high price, that's who.
I just got curtain bangs. Wow they're amazing. Have never worn my hair in a middle part before and now I LOVE IT. That being said, i also love my Octo Curl, but now I'm a little lost and don't know how to use it with my hair. Since I know you love them so much too could u do a Octo Curl tutorial again, BUT with curtain bangs!? Help me Kayley Melissa, your my only hope.

I don't normally style my hair, I rather use my curling iron on specual occasions. Anyway, I got my airwrap and was mind blown on the first weeks of use. After the "honeymoon phase" I realized that the curls don't hold longer than I expected which made me almost regret buying it. Just today I used my curling iron to touch up some curls after using my airwrap, and at the end of the day the curls from airwrap lasted longer than my touch ups and looked voluminous as well. So yeah, I definitely recommend buying the airwrap. It's definitely a good investment

the comment about managing expectations is exactly how i fealt about the airstrait....I bought it thinking it was going give the same results as a hair straightener, but it doesnt for my hair.....I returned it then purchased it again because it did make my hair very smooth and relatively straight, just not perfect. It did last for several days though and made my curly hair less frizzy and feel very soft and healthy so I ended up buying it the second time and keep it for good! Now I love it and am looking at buying the air wrap LOL

You are so right that it isn't a replacement for a curling iron but a whole new thing. I recently got the Dyson because I love doing blowouts but I struggle with using a roundbrush and the Dyson really does the trick there. Also now that I have shorter hair I can also kinda achieve traditional curling iron curls with it.
You look younger than your first video on dyson! I think its the hair and makeup. 🥰 the longer barrels are definitely a game changer. With the amount that i paid, these should be included in the complete set. 🤪
Have you tried this as a wand? You can wrap your hair around the barrel of the air wrap and it gives you beachy waves. This is how I use it. Works wonders.

I’m not great at doing my own hair and I had read that Dyson were very hard to learn to use properly so that’s the last hurdle I have to mentally get over before I spend $800 on them

For me this tool has replaced my hair dryer. I give myself a wonderful blowout with it whereas holding a hair dryer and round brush just didn’t work for me, my arms around get exhausted. So every wash day I whip out the air wrap to give myself a blowout and now I don’t dread drying my hair!
My daughter wants this for Christmas and I think it would be a great adult gift... thanks for the honest review(s) ha ha!!! This helps a ton!!

I couldn’t agree more. In some countries, the long barrels come with the Airwrap anyway. Here, we have to order them, and if you’ve purchased the $600 holiday set, you’ll want to onowl you can’t buy long barrels to match your set 😡

So I've started watching you not too long ago... Saw you trying VARIOUS tools... You instantly break your curls according to your liking... But today i am not gonna lie you and your sister's hair both looked so amazing and different right after using dyson.. Like i am talking before you comb your hair... I've never seen you guyz do big tight curls... Its mostly waves and today i did... And I LOVED IT.. Thank you for this video... And PS this dyson is crazy unbelievably expensive in my country😂😂😂😂😂... The reason why your hair is curly/wavy underneath at the nape of your neck, is because that is where you have oils constantly moisturizing your hair and keeping it from getting damaged. With the upper parts of your hair it is getting damaged by styling bleaching and because it is on top it doesn't get the oils from your body to naturally moisturize it and protect it. So if that is the texture on the bottom your hair on top can have that texture too, it just needs to be repaired.

My hair is the same texture as yours. It’s so curly on the bottom and the top of my hair is slightly wavy. Drives me crazy! It won’t all get together and do the same thing.
I still prefer round brushes. It's versatile (you can do beachy waves, which is my prefers style with the same rolling method than irons, or use rollers to do vintage styles, you can do a classic one, or you can go slick with a flip at the end, etc), it's cheap so you can buy multiples depending on the styles you like, it's long lasting (particularly if you choose the right brush), the hair can look very shiny and sleek depending on the brush, you can regulate the heat exposure better, I can do it in 15 minutes with almost dry hair without any issue (I have naturally straight hair). I think this is fine only if you are very concern with the damage cause by the act of brushing (but the heat with damper hair is worse), you can't do brushes at all even when learning, you don't have very curly hair that freezes at the roots, you are okay with just doing one look, the one that is possible with this tool, and you have the money.

I have recently cut my hair to this exact length (my hair seems thicker) after having it SUPER LONG for years and I have literally been struggling sooooo hard to curl it, I’ve been wondering whether to invest in the air wrap as I’ve seen nobody with this length hair use it, after seeing this video I am investing right now!!!

If you start from the front you won’t have to hold your hair away like that.
This looks amazing, I am so tempted to get one. I have very curly hair that is fine, and I have to do so much to get my hair how I like it. This would cut that down to just one tool and I like the idea of less damage.
I’m going to have to talk my husband into letting me get one though. They are not cheap but it would save a lot of time I think because I have to use so many tools to tame my hair. I would get use out of all of the attachments too because my hair is curly, it cuts out a straightener.
I’ve heard that it holds the blowout for a few days which sounds awesome. My hair holds a curl really well so maybe this would be a good investment for me.
I mean, every time I see someone use it it looks like they just walked out of a salon. So beautiful and bouncy and you just can’t get that at home easily any other way.
Also the top part of your hair probably doesn’t curl as much cause it’s the part that generally suffers the most damage but long time care and REALLY focusing on that area should help

Can you do a video on hair prep for drying and curling. What order should it go in? Do you use the volume mousse first, then heat protector, then a hair oil..what about texturizer spray ? Also when should you add dry shampoo to help before grease starts?
I am even more convinced now think this would never work for me as I’ve got hair down to my butt and it’s very fine so barely holds a curl even with a curling iron. Plus the whole candy cane wrapping technique only works for someone with short hair - as demonstrated by AL who by the way gets beautiful voluminous hair at mids and ends but near the head it’s all straight and flat.
I still really enjoyed watching this video and it was definitely helpful in figuring things out for me and my hair.
To be honest, I prefer regular curling iron. The hot air coming out of the airwrap is just too strong. Esp. with short hair, it's hard to avoid the heat when curling bang or somewhere near face/neck area T^T
