I'll forever be a devoted fan of Spandau Ballet. It's not easy to listen to them without feeling a lump growing in my throat as I plunge into a whirlwind of memories that it brings along with a bitter and sweet taste of nostalgia. A trip back in time to the days when I was happy and didn't know.
Goes back to knowing then and how it would come to be later we could all make adjustments to make our lives better......or worse. Depending...but I'm sure we all remember someone giving us advice and some took it and most did not. The take it's I'm sure still don't and there all the better for it. Rant and un-advice over. Is that a word.

Saw these guys at the Wiltern in Los Angeles about 8 years ago and they were as good as their first day. Amazing musicians, classy and very down to earth. One of the best bands of the 80s and present
DAMN! Hadley really took care of his voice. He's got to be a trained singer, most performers show varying degrees of wear and tear on their voices by middle age, not this guy, 30 years later and that voice is as beautiful and strong as ever. Huge respect for these guys kicking a$$!
He has not abused his voice but has certainly not pampered it. He is one of a handful of singers who has been lucky enough to have a great voice since their youth (even childhood) and has maintained the clarity that it had back then but with the increased control that comes with performance experience and the ability to emote that comes with maturity and life experience. Art Garfunkel and Justin Hayward are another two of the few who come to mind. It is a gift.
Nothing better than 5 great artists playing their own music and singing their own lyrics. 5 school friends, love for music, years spent playing in clubs and this is the outcome: a great band.
What I so like is that 30 years later they play and they really can play - that is the same for almost every band from the 70s and 80s...I feel sorry for bands now as most wont have a body of great work to play to their fans 30 years on

One of lifes great bands. The sound of a new era in music ....and boy did we not realise back then that this was the anthem of our young lives. T. Hadley an incredible vocalist with a wide range of scale,......very cool guy. Leaving aside my typical fan based adoration for a mo - what impressed me most was that when few if any bsnds would come to Belfast in the 80s these guys would and did. Respect!

Yes! I was thinking about that after watching these. I mean, he's as good as George Michael. I think it was just timing. Spandau came along earlier and broke up earlier - by the early 90's the Kemp brothers were acting. Their style fully falls between Roxy Music and ABC - with technically the better voice. I am a singer and believe me when I say, that man took serious care of his voice. It would be hard for me to believe he isn't trained. So many singers have a lot of wear and tear on their voices by midlife, but not this guy. WOW.
When music was something, pure talent, no miming, no autotune, not like todays garbage.....Bring back the 80's
