Brady's ego didn't get in his way. he was perfectly willing to stay with the Patriots, but Belichick made it clear he didn't want Brady around. It was Brady who kept the good players around, and took salary cuts to pay them. Players were willing to play for Belichick because of Brady.

And having Brady be able to lead top 5 offenses every year regardless of personnel meant Bill could draft defense in the first round every year. It meant he could sign the best free agent corner every few years. Bill was basically able to ignore the offensive side of football for 15 years. think of this.. i called weei once to unpack this and even they were taken a back.... If tom had never left, he would have never won or even sniffed at another ring... him leaving allowed him to stop mahomes one more time.. "the baby goat" was set and ready for take off into NFL stratosphere if he had gone back to back, and Brady, once again like Mahomes kryptonite he is, stopped his pursuit one more time, with a brand new team, that was ranked one of the worst just a year prior... they won doing it Toms way.. what he needed and wanted, Bruce was a place holder.. a fun one, but just a figure head.. Tom was running fucking everything... they wanted him to... Like i said, i hate that brady didnt play out his career here, but him leaving allowed him to set a few more real GOAT records, undeniably establish his legend, and stick it to the PATIROTS of all people!!! its a story that couldnt have been written better and its no better fitting than to be the story of, Tom Brady.... we as pats fans should be so grateful and gracious to have watched it unfold, over 20+ years with toothpicks and microscopes, we got to romanticize and fawn over our beloved, hansom, godlike, PERFECT HUMAN, my idol... Evidence by the fact he gave Bledsoe the highest contract in the history of the game at that in the off season. If it wasn't for Mo Lewis BeliDork is fired within another season. He would have NEVER played Brady. Belidork is not the person for the drafting of Tom Brady. His qb coach at the time begged him to. With his 9th pick of the day, a throwaway pick, he did so to please Dick Rehbein, who would die a year later. Then BeliChump wanted to get rid of Brady after the 1st three SB's by not offering him a contract (tte same way hi did it in the end). But Kraft went around him and did the deal. It's always seemed pretty clear to me that the conflicts were between Kraft and Belichick, so Tom leaving mostly freed him from drama, while Bill got to keep the drama, and had to teach some new kid how to lead a team. It's impossible to win in this league without a good QB, and as the draft teaches us every year, as it taught us with Tom Brady, scouting is basically a crap shoot, and no one is good at evaluating who will take to the NFL grind, and who wont, especially under center.

At least he openly admitted it instead of having someone drag it out. Belichick has a great system but systems mean nothing if you don’t have the players to make it work. Kobe and MJ won with Phil’s system but that system is nothing without them.

This is why players coach are so successful. The pats was the last team in the past decade to win without a players coach. The trend as of now for Super Bowl is you have to be a players coach. Dougie was when the first year eagles won one but the year after he looked more stressed than himself. Expectations really got to him. He didn’t look happy coaching after eagles won the sb. If you are a coach and want longevity, learn from Greg popovich. Different sport but concept is the same. Though pop is a blend of being a players coach n his way(which is rare), his strength is he truly cares about the players as a human being n off the court. When u have a once in a lifetime talent or player, you ride him until the wheels fall off. Pop treated duncan like every other players the same to a certain extent to get the teamwork concept down but he knew he had to tend to his superstar needs when need be. Bill is alll about football and that was his flaw.

So, it was Brady's fault that he only had to score more than 30 points in his entire career 44 times out of 285 games he played for New England? Belichick ensured that Brady didn't have to go out and score on every drive from 2001-2019! 84.56% of Brady's starts the opposing teams score less than 30. The only team in that span who allowed less 30 point games were Baltimore with 42! Please!!!!!
