    This is the new Renault Clio!
    Looking at it you may not think the Clio has changed that much compared to the predecessor… And when it comes to exterior design, you’d be right! However, once you peer under the skin, you’ll find the Clio has actually undergone a number of changes since the last generation.
    Once you're inside, you’ll find a fully revamped interior, with a big infotainment screen and soft-touch material throughout the cabin! Under the bonnet, there’s a number of engines to choose from, including a range-topping 1.6-litre hybrid that’ll achieve 140hp & 64mpg!
    But what do you think, would you choose a Clio over alternatives such as the Fiesta, Polo, or a carwow favourite - the Peugeot 208?! You’d better keep watching to see if you should!

      Only thing that could be better is Wind Noise and general sound proofing. When I test drove one, the wind and road noise was so loud that it made me actually go a segment higher. And wind/road noise is key for me because I drive a lot of motorway for work. Which is a shame because the rest of the car is so great. Maybe they should have skipped out on some of the soft plastics, and put the money into sound proofing. Or just you know, make the car 500-1000 pounds more expensive. Quiet cabin >> perceived luxury. Which is why the Polo does so well for most people.
      Or you just do a Toyotra Yaris, which has both a cheap cabin and poor sound insulation... so you could say this is still miles ahead of that car.

      @@CyAn-S This is pretty at odds with my own experience with a rented Clio which I drove for about 300 km on the motorway. I found sound insulation pretty impressive, especially considering that it was the entry level trim with the smaller diesel engine (85 or 90 ch don't remember). Felt like I was driving a bigger car, just with an out-of-this-world mileage.

    I've bought one for my wife this january, Intens (highest spec here in HUN) with the 1.0 engine, and in this orange color. I'm ~190cm tall and 120kg, fit perfectly in the front seats, as a matter a fact when my wife is driving and I'm sitting behind her to overwatch the 11months old boy in the child seat, well I could travel back there for longer distances.
    The 1.0 engine is quite good, bit weak at lower RPMs but from 1700-1800 it is quite good. Fuel consumption is OK, in the city with lots of 3-5km drives is around 7L/100km (33.6 MPG), I've done some highway and motorway round as well and it was around 5-5.5L/100km (47-42.8 MPG). Just for comparison I have a 2014 Octavia with 1.4 103kw TSI and that does 8L/100km (29.4 MPG) in the city and easily does 5L/100Km (47MPG) on the highway, so for the city Clio, for the countryside and highway Octavia, but the size of the cars make this so evident :)
    Clio has around 5000km in it, so still breaking in, I'm expecting 0.5L lower consumtion.
    It is a surprisingly good car, nowadays I found myself in to sit almost everytime into Clio when I'm just going into the city with for just couple of kms, easier to find parking places, front and rear sensors are good, kamera (when it's not dirty) helps a lot, boot space is enough for the Babydesing Dotty baby trolley, and the orange color is just awesome. Chicks comeing to me all the time to have chitchat about the car, never happened with 2x times more expensive black saloon Octavia with 18" alloys and Bi-xenon.. BTW the front LED headlights are freaking good, brighter than the Xenon in the Octy..
    Suspension is more comfy than sporty with the 16" alloys, but here in Budapest you can barely find good roads..
    All in all good car, worth the price (in january 4.500.000 HUF, ~11.000 GBP, today it is 5.500.000 HUF, ~13.600 GBP, thanks crap HUF :) ) the orange color was free because it was some kind of introductory action, 0% interest lease..
    Recommended, drop the french car hatred, just sit in one.

    I bought a Clio 5 Intens TCe 100 5spd manual in January and I have driven 14000 km since new. I have been very satisfied with the whole car. The engine isn't going to win any races but it has a good torque for everyday driving and the consumption is very reasonable. The 5 spd box has the ratios pretty wide apart so that makes the car feel a bit slow but just drop in to right gear and floor it and it will move nicely.

  • @renssimons
    @renssimons Před 3 lety +4

    I don't understand why people are always fighting in the comments about which (small) car is 'best'. If you do, you are missing the most important point: any small car you can buy today is 'good'. Compare the new Clio, the 208 or a Toyota Yaris to literally ANY car you drove quite happily only 10-15 years ago. Look at what you are getting now! Any car you buy today is safe, well-equipped, easy to drive, economical and better for the environment than anything that was available only a few short years ago.
    If you're not old enough to have driven a car 10 years ago, then you can't even know which car is 'best' because you probably have little to no frame or reference. My first car was a 15-year old run down Suzuki Swift with a passenger door that wouldn't open anymore because the car had previously been stolen and rolled. Also, if it was at all wet outside the car would just skid around like it was dancing on an ice skating ring. Compared to THAT, this car is 'best'. Any car you can buy today is 'good'.
    Now what I like about this particular car is how much safety equipment it gets as standard. Some other brands make you pay extra for things like emergency brake assistance, but on the Clio you get everything even at the lowest spec. I think that's also part of the reason why it's so popular.
    Personally, I own a Clio Mk. 4. It's not perfect, but I like it well enough that I decided to upgrade to this car, the NEW Clio. I test drove the hybrid E-Tech version twice and I was so impressed with it that I decided to shell out for that, even if it was almost prohibitively expensive compared to the normal 100 bhp petrol version. It's quite a lot better to drive than my current car and I can't wait for it to get here. I wish there were more English language reviews of the E-Tech hybrid version because it really is quite good and very good fun to drive. It's no rocket like a Tesla, but it'll happily power away at the lights and remain very economical while doing it. I also loved the overall quality and quietness in the cabin. That's the biggest improvement over the old car for me, and what wind and tyre noise I do still get I don't really mind at all.

    • @user-bs1wx1tb7e
      @user-bs1wx1tb7e Před 2 lety

      Most cars don't differ that much in terms of value so you shortlist them and which one to pick is based on what matters most to you. You won't go wrong either way. A buy means that the car is so good at its segment that most people should just not think about it and buy it. A consider should be reserved for cars which are not completely horrible, but for most people will be found lacking, so people should only consider them in case there is something they really need in that car. Seems like a nice system.

    About time that this car got reviewed. So there is a sport mode which gives better response with accelerating and more sporty steering. Also from my experience, the automatic dual-clutch transmission isn't clunky at anytime, and pretty quick too. The car is really enjoyable and fun. The interior is designed by a Dutchman. The trim levels are interesting though. Where as in most countries the highest trim level is going to be the RS, here in the Netherlands we've got the 'Initiale Paris'. This trim adds complete beige/cream or black leather seats. Also more trim details on the outside.

    Spanish viewer here. I've just bought this car last month, ended up going with the RS Line 1.3L in black.
    To me the biggest upside of the car is its interior. About the back seats, it's a Clio so there's not much surprise about the space.
    When wanting a more spirited driving I highly recommend putting it in sport mode, which makes the steering tighter, fixing the lack of connection that Matt talked about, and the gearbox shifts quicker.
    One big thing that I haven't seen any review talk about (neither the spanish or english) it's that you can throw it into manual by holding the upshift paddle for about three seconds, doing this while on sport mode give a quite sporty driving experience (despite obviously still being in a Clio)
    And a big fail to me is not having disk brakes on the rear axle in any specification apart from the 1.5L diesel version, the car brakes great without them but the look is really unflattering.
    Thanks for the video guys!

      @@danisantos3255 wtf. Peugeot 208 interior is far from looking cheap, maybe the only thing I would point out is the side supports on windows made of hard rubber and has a smaller panel. If you compare this Clio with the gt line version of Peugeot 2020, apart from that it has way more futuristic and expensive looking. Also has carbon fiber looking material, clicking responsive buttons, a 3D cockpit, customizable interior lights, USB type-c(yes we are in 2020), WIRELESS phone charger) I just don't know man, there so many expensive-looking things in the Peugeot 208, that's why it got the 2020 car of the year.
