I just saw Chris Botti in New York with Billy on the drums. Lets just say when I was watching him playing I wanted to jump this guy and I'm straight. He kicked ass.
Billy--if you are not yet considered the best drummer in the world yet, you SHOULD be! MAN---a ONE-HANDED BUZZ ROLL!!!!!!????!! What the F#$%! And that hi-hat and cymbal work---how do you do this without breaking those Sabians to pieces? (I play Paiste 2002 myself) I can't imagine any cymbal standing up to such rapid playing, but the fact that you can make them do that without damaging them just shows how incredible your control, nuance, and touch is! Dude--PLEASE allow me to meet you and shoot the crap a bit with you at the next Chris Botti concert--Chris signed my hoern TWICE--maybe you should sign one of my Paiste cymbals! That would make it all come full circle! My horn, my cymbal--represents both instruments I play! Just brilliant, man, just BRILLIANT! Between you and Chris, you already have one HELL of a set-up, then add in all the other insane musicians, and this is as good as it gets! You guys have me HOOKED, and I would follow you to the end of the earth to get to see and chat with you guys, if I could! Thanks for being a part of my life, and in a personal way! Rick Delair!
@the2brett haha well to begin, one of my favorites for sure would be benny greb, went and saw him at a clinic in nashville and he was amazing. i also like jeff porcaro, buddy rich, bonham, jojo mayer, dave weckl, thomas pridgen, teddy campbell, and there are a million others man. oh yea i like mike portnoy alot as well, all of these i listed put travis barker in the dirt. i cant stand how everyone thinks him and jordison are the best ever.
Hey jonrandrum, after enjoying this guys skill the best you can come up with is "LOSE THE GUM" really dude. If you were to know anything at all about Billy Kilson is that he "Always chews on gum" listen, if it ain't broken, don't fix it... Wow, some people...
This is pure technique, almost all gospel/ jazz/prog drummers have best technique, and it's fucking sick, pair lars or Travis up with them and they seem like trash
I don't know what to say other than I think Royster is overrated as a performance artist. He's better just sticking to clinics. He's more of a chops player that is less of a creative musician. There's a difference. Chops can hinder being musical VERY easily. I enjoy Kilson's dynamics and sense of what he's doing with respect to everyone else. Every time I've seen Royster, he's not playing WITH the music and the others.
I heard Dave Holland band both with Billy Kilson and Nate Smith on drums. There's no comparison. What Billy does here is so below what he was able to deliver under Holland's direction... No doubt Chris Botti is a generous leader, but Billy Kilson here is NOT making music as he did before.
@JoeJacari haha jesus christ dude... travis barker? really? that the best drummer you can come up with man? and lars, one of the sloppiest drummers rock has ever seen... who is next on your list.. let me guess... joey jordison? im a drummer with 10 plus years of experience and i could give you a full fuckin list of people that would put travis barker to absolute shame. look into the instrument a little more before throwing out a cliche comment like you have done so..
this man is the reason i became a drummer. to let your soul create the rhythm
everytime i see this video, it's just like the first time. what a drummer.
One of the best drummer in the world!
Mr BILLY KILSON N.° 1 Absolutely brilliant!!!
Drum artistry and standing ovation for Billy Kilson every time he plays with so
much passion and precision. You da man!!!
Saw Chris Botti at the Sydney Opera House. My favourite part was Billy Kilson's 10 minute drum solo - absolutely mesmerising. Genius!
Botti is a really generous bandleader
Wow !! the vibe & flow of his expression is really free. Love the one handed drum roll.
man this is my favorite song they did!
Thnx for sharing ! Great band-setup with Botti
And Kilson is one of a kind, damn he rips that drum-set apart !
Wooo !

Billy Kilson great drummer pure emotion...
Oh, how I love fusion when a kick ass drummer is thrown in!
That's the magic of jazz my friend.
Billy is a bad bad man. Fat beats, amazing dexterity, wonderful understanding of how to expend his musical energy and how to hold back as well.
he's doing a freaking one-handed drum roll at 3:37, billy's a monster
Great player!
Абалденно!👍👍👍Ударник !!! Концерт в Бостоне супер!!!

I just saw Chris Botti in New York with Billy on the drums. Lets just say when I was watching him playing I wanted to jump this guy and I'm straight. He kicked ass.

Preach!
The most explosive drumming I"ve ever wittnesed in my life, not to mention the fastest hands also.
GREAT DRUMMER DAM
At 1:30 the rhythm section sounds like it's playing "When the World is Running Down You Make the Best of What's Still Around" by the Police.
performance and rhythm perpect
oh man he loves his cymbals
Man. I would love to see him and Tony Royster do some stuff.
Excelente
Cudowny perkusista
Chris Botti Grande musicista Italiano!.

Probably nicorette because when he's on the set he's smokin! lol
kto dał dislike i dlaczego ?
who gives dislike and why ?
please justify ... or you know what i mean ...
3:37 the one hand technique!!!
When you can command anything t
like that you can show boat all you wish!!!!!
Chris Botti on trumpet.. I think this is just one piece from Chris' show. Check out Chris. He's excellent.
@PabloBatistaAllDay
good for you, champ
Who's the guy on the trumpet?
Nice. Looks like a young Tony Williams.
whose concert is this? :D
Why is the Live better then the Album!!
haha
BILLY KILSON!!! one out of many of my Heros!!
Dave Weckle is always first lol
deviner mon nom
@the2brett haha well to begin, one of my favorites for sure would be benny greb, went and saw him at a clinic in nashville and he was amazing. i also like jeff porcaro, buddy rich, bonham, jojo mayer, dave weckl, thomas pridgen, teddy campbell, and there are a million others man. oh yea i like mike portnoy alot as well, all of these i listed put travis barker in the dirt. i cant stand how everyone thinks him and jordison are the best ever.
Best Part 2:40 to 4:20.
Cool drum solo! 1 question though: why does it look like the guy's face on the left is blurred out around 7:06?
Show off!
Did any one pick up that Sting vibe up front???
Reminds me of Dennis Chambers.
this sounds a lot like that song by the police, "when the world keeps running down...you make the best of whats still around!"
WAKALA
ハイ ハイ ハイ Billy....ボストン響の皆さんビックリです.
Hey jonrandrum, after enjoying this guys skill the best you can come up with is "LOSE THE GUM" really dude. If you were to know anything at all about Billy Kilson is that he "Always chews on gum" listen, if it ain't broken, don't fix it... Wow, some people...
Fuckin unbelievable. Listen up dave grohl this is what you called drummer, a real drummer.
those who don't know about billy's awesomeness can gtfoh
Right, just like Omar Hakim is no Billy Kilson ;-)

This is pure technique, almost all gospel/ jazz/prog drummers have best technique, and it's fucking sick, pair lars or Travis up with them and they seem like trash
Sadly, 'Pit Bull' couldn't make it. He was having some trouble reading the music charts.
LOSE THE GUM!!!!
i wonder what billy's favourite gum is. i bet he's a spearmint kind of guy. maybe juicy fruit. oh wait! nicorette??
Good grief..
hahaha he has to chew in time, or he'll probably fuck up...unless he includes gum chewing into his independence practice
I don't know what to say other than I think Royster is overrated as a performance artist. He's better just sticking to clinics. He's more of a chops player that is less of a creative musician. Calm down boring general audience on cue to stand up.
