Imprinting isn't about love it's about losing your own free will. They become a slave to the one they imprint on. Doesn't matter what they wanted to do with their life now they have to live to make that person happy.
No he's out connected to her in a way that he couldn't understand and he wanted to imprint on bella but never did and he did not understand why until Reneseme was born. The reason he felt that connection.

She has no choice in the matter, and will only "love" him because that's what the author wants to happen, NOT because that's what's true to their characters.
And also, "waiting for your crush's child to grow up and become attatched to you, until she's OLD ENOUGH to be with her" is certainly NOT a good way to write a solution to a love triangle. 🤷🏻♀️
