The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro is an American muscle car introduced by Chevrolet in the fall of 1966 for the 1967 model year. It rode on a brand-new rear wheel drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2+2 seat, hardtop, and convertible. The F-body was shared with the Pontiac Firebird for all generations. A 230 cu in Chevrolet straight-6 was standard, with several Chevy V8s available as options.[5][6] The first-generation Camaro was built through the 1969 model year.
Almost all of 1967-1969 Camaros were built in the two U.S. assembly plants: Norwood, Ohio and Van Nuys, California. There were also five non-U.S. Camaro assembly plants in countries that required local assembly and content. These plants were located in the Philippines, Belgium, Switzerland, Venezuela, and Peru.
The body style for the 1967 Camaro was designed by the same team that designed the new 1965 edition of the Corvair. The Camaro shared the subframe / semi-unibody design with the 1968 Chevy II Nova. Almost 80 factory-installed and 40 dealer options, including three main trim packages, were available: the RS, the SS, and the Z/28.
The SS included a 350 cu in (5.7 L) producing 295 bhp (299 PS; 220 kW) at 4800 rpm and 380 lb⋅ft (515 N⋅m) at 3200 rpm of torque;[12] and the L35 and L78 396 cu in (6.5 L) big-block V8 engines producing 325 bhp (330 PS; 242 kW) or 375 bhp (380 PS; 280 kW) at 5600 rpm and 415 lb⋅ft (563 N⋅m) at 3600 rpm of torque were available.[13] The SS featured non-functional air inlets on the hood, special striping, and SS badging on the grille, front fenders, gas cap, and horn button. It was possible to order both the SS and RS options, making it a RS/SS. In 1967, a Camaro RS/SS convertible with a 396 engine paced the Indianapolis 500.
The Camaro's standard drivetrain was either a 230 cu in (3.8 L) straight-6 engine rated at 140 hp (104 kW) at 4400 rpm and 220 lb⋅ft (298 N⋅m) of torque at 1600 rpm;[8] or a 327 cu in (5.4 L) and 307 cu in (5.0 L) (in January 1969) V8s, with a standard three-speed manual transmission. There were 8 (in 1967), 10 (in 1968), and 12 (in 1969) different engines available in 1967-1969 Camaros. There were several optional transmissions. A four-speed manual was available with any engine. The two-speed "Powerglide" automatic transmission was available all three years.[9] The three-speed "Turbo Hydra-Matic 350" automatic became available starting in 1968.[10] The optional automatic for SS 396 cars was the Turbo 400 three-speed automatic. A semi-automatic "Torque-Drive" two-speed transmission was available on six-cylinder models.
The Z/28 performance package was designed (with further modifications) to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am Series. It included a solid-lifter 302 cu in (4.9 L) V8, 4-speed transmission, power disc brakes, and two wide "skunk" stripes down the hood and trunk lid. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
The poor man’s pad printing was a brilliant idea! Thanks for that, I’ll definitely keep it in my back pocket for next time.
That color shot paint lays really well. This reminds me of Buddy’s Camaro in the movie “ Christine”
BTW what color was buddy's camar6
Cool kit!!!! 👍👍
Awesome always cool ride 😎
When I want to paint a wood grain steering wheel, I paint the brown first, then lightly paint over it with clear orange. It really makes a difference. Nice build👍
Nice build Chris!!!..🙂👍
I just wish amt would fix the painting instructions to have you and anyone else to paint the intake manifold aluminum and the carb gold or brass paint to represent a Holley 4-bbl carb which was standard on the Z/28s from '67-'72.. Keep on building!...😉
Nice job as always Chris.
Cool as always.
Gotta say the tire white lettering techinique on the tires is awesome...WAY TO GO!! You deserve to be proud of it.
41:40 what an awesome method, I can't wait to give it a shot. When you were using the Sharpie on the window molding I was thinking how good the black stripes would look but seeing the finished product those white ones do look even better.
When I saw the resent releases I had already made my mind up to get 2 or 3.
I have used them and my favorites are the sharpie paint pens over the markers, but the silver marker is more like a paint pen. Hobby Lobby just recently clearanced their stock for like .99 each. Might still have some at yours.
This looks great! At first when I saw the photo I thought it was a black and white picture but I love this color on this car; certainly different from the other Camaro models you've built over the years.
Thanks for showing us Chris, turned out great 👍
Great build! The color is awesome. I picked up the Revell Silverado with your license plate today at a model contest/show. 👍
Very nice tip on the tires. That looks great. Very nice color choices. You did your usual great job building this nice model. Thanks for sharing.
This was a good kit. I built it when I was about 13. You can see the place on the chrome tree where the Cragar ss wheels were.
You need to do a tour of all the cars you have built
Great base for a "Crusher Camaro"
GREAT build Chris! This really brought back some great memories. My first car was a 1967 rs/ss with a 327 V8 with Butternut Yellow body and black interior. My car had disappearing headlights and stock Chevrolet wire wheel covers. She was a sweet ride. I'd sure like to have her back. I'm definitely going pick up this kit and build it as my first car. I'm also going to pick up the '69 GTO kit that you built as well. At the time I drove my Camaro my dad drove a Saphire Blue '69 GTO with a 400ci V-8 and hurst 4-speed with black interior and a walnut steering wheel. I learned to drive and took my driver's test in the GTO.
Love your channel. Thank you for posting this project.
wepa migente i love it
Nice clean build Chris, perfect color choices!
Always Great to look at your Chanel ,at the video the metallic paint particels looks out of scale for this job😊
Great job as always Chris stay safe and positive keep up the amazing work
I will never tire of seeing raised white letters...
Details everywhere. It is what sets you apart from most others in the Styrene Pack - and I've seen you folks in public wearing your black plastic jackets with decals on the back. Showing off rattle cans, side cutters and glue. Moon Eyes on your beverage mugs do not intimidate me - but those woodpecker logos on the Thrush Glass Packs are a cause for concern. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks RA!
Cool 👍🏿
Another great build video Chris! Good color scheme too!
Chris, Great video! I really like the finish you chose for the car. Excellent work, thanks for sharing your channel.
The color of the car looks great on that Camero. You do a great job on all of your builds. I'm building the 80 Monte Carlo with chopper right now. I watch you build to get a couple of ideas from your build.
Very cool tutorial. Im building the 68 Z28 version and I appreciate the tips. Your process is first rate.
Very nice. I really like the color of the car. Great video and a great build. Keep up the great work.
Another great build. I hope you are able to get the Sodbuster by MPC which is coming out soon from Round2. I would love to see you build that.
Great job as usual Chris
Beautiful model. WELL DONE! Thank you.👍
Great build.
Another kit Round2 could improve by making a new grill part to allow transparent headlights. It's already a pretty good kit. Would just improve it more.
Great video Chris, keep em coming and I'll keep watching.
I did some grinding on those vent windows I got them in but it seems like they could have been designed a little better.
1967 Camaro has vent windows 1968 & 9 does not
I painted the tail lights all red like a RS
Really like your colors and those tires - wow
One thing to remember is the difference between AMT and Revell kits.
Nice looking results. Thanks for your review.
Very good Chris!
Another excellent and truly useful video--Thanks for sharing!
I love your builds but bro you gotta clean your booth!!! Lol thx for the video love your work :)
Brilliant job mate👍
Sweet job, looks awesome 👍
Clean as a pin
Like the silver color choice
That is a cool way to pad print!
Great job. I love the color choices.
Nice kit
AMT could've made this a slightly more detailed and better kit that was true to the '67 Z/28.
First off the car had 7.75x15 Redline tires, it came with bumper guards front and rear, had "Chevrolet" script chrome valve covers. Directions should have had paint codes for Chevy orange painted block, heads and oil pan, aluminum painted intake manifold, cast iron exhaust manifolds. The grill would've been black plastic.
This came out nice.
Metallic grey looks AWESOME, CHRIS! YES, that trick with the tire lettering was an deal, I guess that is what they do for " PAD PRINTED TIRES', Another Awesome build!
I remember the red 68 version of this kit coming with such a good tire bag. L60 and f60s for the hot rod tires.
I did an unboxing of that one years back, it did have great tires.
@@hpiguy Awesome, it was worth it to me just for the tires.
😊
I love watching your videos ..another great build
Where do you get the parts holders at with the alligator clips
That smoke and mirrors paint job is dope. Great color. That would look bad ass on a guitar.
You could use the rims from the 63 Corvette to make buddy repperton the car
Yesssss my friend I believe your right, I think it's the same turbine rims that is in the 65 GTO as well!!!! Very nice build...lovevthose headers and side pipes, they can be used on other AMT and MPC kits...😂
Another awesome build! The paint you used for the body, does it dry glossy? Or did you do the Future Floor Wax treatment?
Thanks for sharing!😎
It dries as a near satin, not glossy. I use a couple coats of floor polish after the decals.
@@hpiguy thanks for the information. I'll try that brand of paint.
Thanks again
What glue did you use?
Seems to me the 67 Camaro had the small vent windows. Wonder if AMT used the 68 body in this kit?
I'm building the '68 Camaro Z-28 right now. The body in the kit has the side marker lights on it. BTW, it comes with TWO sets of pad printed tires! Four F60-15s and four L60-15s. Woohoo!
Do you sell any of your models?
I am surprised more are not selling the kit as a 3D print plan instead. Buy your own rubber, and wheels, and other things, but the core could be 3D printed. I get injection molded, but this is the time of 3D printing, and it is getting really good. I am surprised more kits aren't hybrids yet.
How's the Quick shine test come out you did a few months ago
Still shiny.
@@hpiguy lol
Was that cardboard or black styrene that you used for the excellent white letters?
Thick black plastic so it stays rigid but doesn't soak anything up.
The Ramada called....
LOL
As many times as they've reissued this I keep hoping they'd put in more of the original issue drag parts. I stupidly had an original issue from the 60s and sold it boo hoo
Google Jerry MacNeish. He is an old friend of mine. He restored and raced the original 68 Z/28 that was the world champion car built by Bill Jenkins and driven by Dave Strickler. He now races a 67, Z/28 in NHRA Stock. He has written a couple books on Camaros. He also owns 2, 1968 Z/28's and a 65, SS 396 Impala convertible.
Lol you could also do John Cusacks car from Better Off Dead too!!! (French girl not included)
Sorry your mom blew up Ricky.
First! :)
