I've invested primarily in dividends for a very long time. This is not to say that I do not own growth stocks-I do. A well-rounded portfolio has to include elements from both areas. Maintaining a sizable cash cushion is one technique to reduce the stress associated with stock market trading. Although I invest in the market, I never use all of my funds there.
Instead of reinvesting in the same stock, I occasionally utilize my dividends to purchase additional income and growth stocks for diversification. But to each their own ways. What matters is that you're investing in the first place, which is a positive thing.
Based on personal experience working with an investment advisor, I currently have $1m in a well-diversified portfolio that has experienced exponential growth. It's not only about having money to invest in stocks, but you also need to be knowledgeable, persistent, and have strong hands to back it up.

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2024 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. I kind of interpret many post on here as acknowledging that we're reaching a market peak, in general, which is a well-supported thesis, and so if you've been sitting back chill while the gains roll in because bull market, well, time for traders to stay sharp, many are expecting volatility, probably a sharp downturn, smart traders should check their risk management is in shape, time to pay attention. The timing of his post vs what I know about the market supports that well enough. But yeah, the post could mean anything.....managed to grow a nest egg of around 100k to a decent 432k in the space of a few months... I'm especially grateful to Kerrie Farrell, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.......

Actually that’s not really true. If anything they have overcompensated for 2016. Trump lucked out in that election. The polls correctly predicted that Hillary would win the popular vote but Trump narrowly won in three swing states that cost her the election. But Republicans have been overconfident in every election since and they have lost every time. Remember the “Red Wave” that was coming in 2022? Polls predicted a big win for them but the party chose bad candidates and insisted on election denialism. Didn’t work. And I don’t think it will work this year, either, in the end. There actually have been polls showing Biden in the lead in recent weeks and also gaining on Trump in some swing states. It’s too early to tell how this will shake out. But Trump doesn’t deserve to even be close. He was a terrible president!

If neither candidate gets to 270, which is the 269-269 scenario Steve just demonstrated, then the House of Representatives holds the vote and elects the next President of the United States. Sad but true, folks. This could actually be the case. Naturally, the House vote would be based on the current House of Representatives, which is majority Republican, not the next House which could flip to a Democratic majority in 2025.
