    Scottie Scheffler, a reigning champion of the Golf world, has a golf swing that's a subject of much debate. His 'across the line' position at the top and his unique footwork are not conventional, but they work for him.
    There's a lot we can learn from his approach, but more than any of it, his mental toughness makes up for any challenges he encounters on the course.
    We leave it to Mike Malaska to help you discover how Scottie's unique footwork, often questioned, can benefit 90% of the average golf community and how you can learn from Scheffler's mental toughness to win more matches and become a better player.

    I coach Disc Golf. And I'm one of the few folks in the sport teaching this move. Our move is more dynamic than 'ball golf' because we walk up into our swing rather than stand still, so Scotties move is present in alot more of our strong players. Really nice to see Scottie having success with this move and really nice to see Malaska laying down solid coaching on it!
    Thanks!

    Using the Scottie move to keep the right hip back resulted in me hitting the ball long and straight today (and I usually pull the ball)! Thanks, Mike.

    I created a “knee high fence” (your recommendation) out of three short aiming rods and set them on-line just outside knees at setup. The purpose is to swing without either knee hitting the “fence. The first thing I noticed was a “Scheffler” finish with right knee/leg moving behind the left at impact then left toes came completely off ground at impact as I shifted deep into my left heel.

    Mental game: IMPORTANT! I hit a poor tee shot this week on first hole. Landed in fairway bunker. Even though there was a high mound in front of me and my playing partner suggesting an 8 iron to just get out to the fairway, my ego said "hit a 6 iron and get on or close to the green" which was 155 yards away. Bad decision. Two shots later I'm just out into the rough. Still 150 yards to pin. Ended up with a triple bogey. Managed to end my 9 holes with a 43.

    Thanks Mike, you've always talked about getting the lower body out of the way so your arms can swing free, I've definitely looked at scottie swing but listening to you break it down, it makes total sense of course , that why he's the # 1 player in the world, caught the video late, scottie like most pros got beat up at Pinehurst, a bit unfair those greens in my opinion, but whatever, Nice breakdown, Thank you.

    I used to teach for John Jacob's Golf Schools. I'll never forget a 20 handicap golfer at lunch the first day of a five day school saying "I won't let them (instructors) touch MY grip." lol

    It’s similar to a bowling finish. Like sliding your trail leg laterally towards the target. If your hip fully clear you should see the similar finish like a bowler has with the lower body

    Here we go again classic CZcams teaching a golf technique that's unique to him and himself alone!!! I'm sorry Mike but you golf coaches should be teaching a good grip, good posture, then just hitting 1000's of balls with the feet together drill. The golfer will naturally find his or her natural body/club swing. The truth is, golfers have to 90% work it out by them selves through repeated muscle memory training.

      I believe Mike was suggesting the foot slide as a practice drill which helps keep amateurs from moving towards the ball on the downswing. I didn’t hear him recommend we take it to the course, just as a drill.

    the sliding back of the foot is going to screw up so many amatuer golfers.............horrible advice, even if it works. Amatuers don't need that advice. BIG thumbs down. Good Lord ????!!!

    • @psycho8771
      @psycho8771 Před měsícem

      You realize that the trail foot pushes back and the lead foot pushes forward to create the hips opening. Some players like Scotty use the GRFs so well that they have that exaggerated move. Look at guys hit out of pine straw their trail foot slips back because of the forces. I wouldn't force that move but I'd venture to guess you'd be better off with that foot going back then forward like most amateurs do.

      @@Frank-pi2gz In a game that gets mocked for not being athletic his approach is just that-athletic. Different strokes for different folks but look at all the textbook swings that fall off the tour every year. You remind me a bit of Dan Jenkins who hated Greg Norman’s swing which also featured a sliding back foot.
