Thank you SO much for this clear, articulate video. I have a 2015 Passat and a couple things looked a little different during my repair (the pins of the air bag were a sneaky variety), but your video made it possible for my dad and I to accomplish this task together.

steering wheel bolt looks like a triple square. Mine was a 12mm. It will not be a fun day if you strip out a triple square with a torx.

When releasing the airbag, don't pull down on the plastic tabs, use your flat head to move the metal tabs in towards the steering column. The factory service manual depicts the screwdriver on the plastic tabs, which is wrong. Took me a bit of frustration to figure that out!

i needed to replace clock spring on my 2013 Tiguan and i called local VW dealer for parts and what it would cost for them to program it after i install the part. This doesn't happen often but got great news....vw dealer advised that parts and labor to replace the clock spring is 100% covered by the dealer. so i called another dealer to verify they told me the same ( i scheduled an appointment for 01/03, ) . They advised that the clock spring warranty has been extended. this was a nice surprise. please check with your dealership prior to purchasing and replacing your clock spring. they said that as long as your mileage is lower than 999,999 you are covered. that's what their warranty shows. basically all cars are covered.

its like the code to reset the clock spring back to the car and u would just put a special type of scanner on the car and you turn it all the way left and right and in the center and it would take of traction light .

Basically, I need to get a "Specail type of scanner" that'd be a VAG-COM scanner? Not just any high-end OBD II scanner?
Then I suppose I'd just need to clear the code(s), assuming I put the airbag slip ring in properly centered.
      I guess I could rent a ross-tech vcds scanner i.e.
