    00:00 Did you know that in Factorio, you should build sushi belts?
    00:03 If you are sane person you probably use belts to transport one or two items at the time.
    00:07 However you shouldn’t limit yourself to only 2 items at the time.
    00:11 With some creativity you can put as many items on single belts as you wish.
    00:16 You can build it easier way with splitters adding new items to a sushi belt.
    00:20 Or if you are proficient at circuits, you can use them to balance your sushi.
    00:25 It’s good to use this strategy with items which are need in small quantity.
    00:29 Like resources need to craft a blue science.
    00:31 However the best use for sushi is in your labs,
    00:34 since you need to provide only one belt with all the science.
    00:37 Whatever you do, just don’t sushi belt your furnaces since the…
    This is a short Factorio tutorial or guide. You can find some useful tips for your Factorio speedrun and death world game. Advance topics like trains blueprints circuit network will be explained in a few seconds. I hope this series will work great as a trailer and review for Factorio. I will also try to keep it funny in a meme way.

  • @shieldphaser
    @shieldphaser Před rokem +238

    Thing is, sushi belts work fine... until one of the things in it become backed up. This usually happened because you produced too little of something in the belt upstream, so it didn't get in, meaning that the whole process downstream became unbalanced. Then everything is backed up and you're sad.

    • @dixaba
      @dixaba Před rokem +39

      Yes, but it is very easy to fix with circuits which will enable upstream belt only when sushi belt doesn't have provided item on it. It doesn't even need combinators, only basic wire.

      @@dixaba By the time people figure out how to use circuits to make sushi belts works fine, they will be obsessed with throughput. Labs is the common place, but you get lower throughput once the labs are so fast.

      you can make loops and such, but really, the fact that you need a whole bunch of splitters and to ship unused inputs around makes it space and belt inefficient compared to traditional 1 item type per belt lane.
      It's also way easier to grok traditional set-ups as working and tweak them for specific needs.

      @suddeneevee9441 Před rokem

      0:17 By using splitters in the right way, you can ensure any 'power of 2'-amount of belts get balanced evenly. Though that still has one downside: it has to be a power of 2: 2,4,8,etc.

  • @Cyrikyty
    @Cyrikyty Před rokem +91

    I used a sushi belt once in my life and it was to feed the 28 different Science packs of Space Exploration into the labs. Because Requester Warehouses are lame. I still feel like that actually limited my throughput since the belt in question was rather small.
    The other day I had a factory idea that is probably around 10% Genius and 90% pure insanity, and it was to built the entire factory alongside a single railtrack with a single continuous train that advances one wagon at a time once every half minute or so. No pipes, no belts, no bots, only direct insertion from and to the train. One of these days I will build it... when the world is ready for it. And I shall call it the Sushi Train.

      Oh gods, I want to try that sushi train idea! Connecting the train directly to the machines means every single car needs the entire sushi ratio'd and the fast machines have to stop when the train moves forward, but otherwise sounds awesome. My idea is to put buffer chests between the train and machines so there would always be materials for the machines to run at full speed and the train cars could be a bit more diverse in their contents.

    • @LionKing-qp1lk
      @LionKing-qp1lk Před rokem +6

      @@xipheonj I've done this in my old dropped pyanodon run
      Uroboros-like train (1loco+3wagons) * infinity. Head of the train bites it's own tail. 1-2sec inactivity to run onward.
      Single rectangle railroad full of stations interleave each 4cars-length. Rounded corners lengths are approx 4cars arcs, too. One side of rectangle is full base length. The other side (width) - needs many tests. You should have at minimum 5 of 6 working inserters with the last wagon. Because when head of train arrives to station, the tail in three 90 degrees turns, and it's never arranged properly
      All wagons initially with blocked inventory. Then you just unlock space for each needed resource.
      Producing station - simply try to put product in each first wagon (or second, or third)
      Consuming station - Answer is - Buffer wagon. No need filter inserters. If you have free space for resource in buffer wagon, this resource will be grabbed from train.
      -------------------------------------------------------------------
      + It's funny to try
      + maybe it's okayish with many resources mods
      - definitely it's not a silver bullet
      - very limited throughput (5.5 working inserters per wagon per side)
      - one station sometimes slows all train
      - certainly you will want to parallelize transportation of iron/copper by another way

    There was one video I saw where it combined city blocks with Sushi belts. Each block was surrounded by the Sushi belt, and had Splitters along the long faces to make sure they were balanced. Each City block alternated clockwise, counter-clockwise, clockwise, counter-clockwise, etc. Each Block would have one or more Splitters along one edge that preferred to take off the needed materials for that Block, and a Splitter that preferred to take the output from that Block. A circuit was used to make sure that the Block would only output if none of that item was present on the Sushi belt within a certain distance.
    It 'worked', but sometimes you would find a White Science mixed in with the Iron Out output and watch it as it slowly got back over to the Science area

    I don't play Factorio, but there are plenty of examples of sushi belts in my world in Satisfactory. Mostly on trucks or trains so you don't have to have one train car or truck & station for each item. In Satisfactory, to make sushi belts work properly you have to add overflow splitters (items get diverted when the priority output gets clogged) to get rid of extra items when something backs up. Simply put, you first sort the sushi belt onto organized belts, then place an overflow splitter on each output belt. Then just run the overflow lines into a resource sink (deletes the items from the belt). I don't know if things that allow this sort of system to work exist in Factorio, but I bet it's still required to keep sushi belts from clogging.

    • @justeunfan3364
      @justeunfan3364 Před rokem +2

      I play both games and the advantage of factorio is that the logic system allows you to stop the belt when one item is missing to avoid filling the belt with only one item and cloaging it. I hope they'll add something like that to satisfactory it would be incredible.
