It IS true though! He is a certified fitness instructor. It's his dayjob, really. To do Venom full-time, like, they would have to do long tours like other bands do and they NEVER wanted to do that. So, they all have to have something else to do as well. The other two guys that are with Cronos NOW (Rage + Dante) play in cover/tribute bands as well.

Some trivia: Henych's (interviewer) band Törr was actually founded BEFORE Venom was. True, they didn't originally played black metal, but started so under Venom's influence and their albums are well worth a listen.

Haha, I fucking love Cronos! He's so cocky and the badass thing about it, is I don't know whether he notices it or not. He's a smart man yeah, but he's so far into the moment that he passes that little gesture up at 7:30 to 7:40 or perhaps he's just purely honest. Either way it's good.

I think it's the first time Chronos saying they play Black Metal...since they used to say they didn't but that they might have helped create the genre and that they only had an album with the name.

TNWOBHM stands for 'the new wave of british heavy metal'.
True, Venom is/was Black Metal. They came up wit the name, the image, the concept yeah nods to Sabbath, but they were also coming from a Christian slant on a lot of tunes whereas Venom didn't, and to quote Miles Davis who said about Louis Armstrong "he invented all the cliches" Venom did the same.

It's not from me, because I've heard an interview with cronos where he said it. And if we compare the timelines: parallel to Metallica were other Bands around like Exodus, Slayer or Anthrax which were nearly all influenced by Venom, which released "Black Metal" before Kill em All and on BM the music was even more thrash like on "Welcome to Hell".
Welcome to Hell was speed metal, it sounded like a more extreme looser Motorhead, Black Metal sounds more thrashy but again still in a loose Motorhead style, Metallica really put that power and speed, and really put that crunch of the guitar style and speed riffs in there with tight palm muted down picks and great fucking solos from Kirk, Cliffs bass was fucking amazing as well and Lars in this day could drum great!
Because he said Mantas and Abaddon moved on, one is doing Industrial and the other is doing nu-metal slipknot shit.
To go with that, I heard about Cronos commenting about how Sabbath influenced them a lot. But he quoted how they would write all this evil stuff, then ruin it all by singing "Oh please, God help me."
Just adding on to your conversation with UrukTheRed on the differenced between comming onto the metal scene with a Christian slant in comparison with bands like Venom.

Venom invented Thrash and Speed Metal and combined it with satanic lyrics and atmospheric interludes and called the whole concept Black Metal. And they are still playing this today - and so they have all the rights in the world to call it so. The norwegian panda bears played a mixture of Thrash, Death and Doom Metal and called it Black Metal too. But they are not the inventor and if you listen do current Darkthrone records, it has more in common with Venom as you might think...

Yeah I've read interviews with Cronos saying things to that effect. Aside from all that how about those Christian Black Metal type bands? Ha Ha White Metal. I remember back in the eighties you had these bands like Petra who sounded like a Boston knockoff and then there was the Rez band who sounded like AC/DC and then there was the Resurrection Band.
What point are you lost at, I'll help you out. Yes, Sabbath came from a Christian slant quite a bit. Geezer even said a lot of his lyrics were warnings to stay away from the occult, whereas Venom were opposite with the image and lyrics. As far as evil from a Christian point of view, sure, why not? The Devil is said to appear as an angel of light.
