NEC refused to die. They have good d2 teams that will bring their dominance to the table. For football only gives 40 to 63 scholarships or half scholarships. FDU beat the higher level of basketball.. MAAC conference should take FDU.. one time, Wagner was invited to MAAC, and they pulled ou. NEC conference did a great job with keeping them alive.
I'd love to see Robert Morris return to the conference. They haven't been competitive at all since moving to the Horizon. But of course it's not gonna happen.
New Haven has always been mentioned as a school to move up. But they still have not announced. Within the last year, Bentley has been mentioned as a school to move up. But again they haven’t moved up yet. I’m sure the NEC hopes any D2 school makes the move now to start the reclassification process. As of now the 2024-25 season will have Stonehill, Lemoyne, and Mercyhurst reclassifying! That’s 3 of 9 schools. a conference needs seven active D1 members. So if by 2029. the NEC has 9 to 10 active D1 members, I think they would be happy.
@@WDB2005 That would a good choice if it needs more schools. But I wonder if other others from the PSAC also are considerable like Gannon or West Chester (PA) or Lock Haven (PA)
they are trying to raise the funds for football, but this is not their first attempt doing so. I know one thing that the other schools should tell Chicago State not to bring back football unless they are going to pay for the travel cost for everyone's football team going to Chicago.
Cleveland is about 100 miles from Erie. Pittsburgh is about 130 miles from Erie. Obviously lots of flights to and from both of those cities.. So maybe teams fly into either of those cities and bus to Erie.

I heard also the NEC is trying to get both Bentley and New Haven as well
I wonder if the NEC would eventually plan to get to the 12 team milestone

Im assuming the NEC adds another d2 call up to get to ten. 9 is just an awkward number.

NEC seems like the weakest FCS conference in both basketball in football, very weird place for them right now
