I am a Bahai too , moved to U.S during shah , but we were going to go back after our education was finished after revolution we stayed. Many Bahais could not go back even for visit .
He said that they wanted to go back in 79/80 after the revolution but couldn’t because they were persecuted then. So he’s a refugee in the sense that he couldn’t go back.
