this is blowing my mind as to the tech involved in just turning soil properly for the best seed germination plan..I am a geologist with palentoarthropologistic studies. This video is taking me back 60000 years when our ancient kin began to till soil..you two rock !..Enjoy each other..have children..who enjoy the same stuff as you two....
Laura. It was funny when it looked as if Grant was going to lick the oil off the dipstick. This reminds me of a joke I played on somebody years ago. I got a brand-new paintbrush, a brand-new paint bucket and I put smooth blackcurrant yogurt in the bucket. When somebody walked in the room, I dipped the paintbrush into the yogurt that he thought was paint and I licked some yogurt off the paintbrush. He asked, “What do you think you’re doing?” I replied, “I’m giving this room a lick of paint.” Then I asked him if he remembers the scene at the beginning of Saturday Night Fever when John Travolta was walking down the street with a can of red paint. The person in the room with me said he didn’t remember that scene. I said John was ready to paint the town red.
As a non-farmer I want to thank you farmers for all you do to help keep america running with food fuel etc etc (yes I know farmers do more for americans than we realize and I am a grateful american for all that all different kinds of farmers do for americans in the US of A )
Love your channel - you both are so delight-full --- You give us hope that our country will survive and that there is still some good and **wholesomeness** out there... Thanks... Praying **Blessings on you two**
I love your definitions Laura. The Spiky Thingies are Aerator Tines. The Twirly Pizza Cutters are Wavy Coulter Blades. Once the crops are coming up fairly good, dig down to look at the root system. Roots will not lie. If the ground is shattered good, the roots will basically go straight down to find moisture. But if the roots appear to take a hard right or left, this means that there is still compaction, and the roots are searching for the easiest way to find moisture. Grant talked about the Spiky Thingies (Aerator Tines) making holes in the soil. This is not necessarily a good thing. You don't want water or liquid manure to pool up in these holes. If the Spiky Thingies (Aerator Tines) are doing a good job, they should be shattering the compacted soil to allow liquids (such as water and liquid manure), along with air, to flow freely into the soil in all directions. Also, if there is good shattering, you may find that your wet areas will dry up faster. You may be able to recoup some wet land for profit.
Hi Laura I live en California and I like to match your videos besarse it reminds me of my father's ranch in México.......and I'm also learning English with you.
I love watching farming. From a small child I grew up in a large family, all involved with farming in one way or another in north eastern Iowa. My grandpa had a Massey Harris, later Massey Ferguson, and Allis Chalmers implement store, an uncle who worked at the grain elevator, my dad who owned an electric motor sales and repair shop and with farmers, the John Deer plant and other large companies nearby he stayed busy. One uncle had a welding shop and a big welding truck set up to go to the farmers and make repairs. Most of my uncles, aunts and cousins worked on the family farms, some of my cousins are still on the farms, although they're retirement age like me. The best part for me is to see the strong family units that farming produce. Our country is in need of as many strong family units as possible and a lot less government interference. Anyway, I've seen you on some of the other farming channels I follow, watched some of your videos and subscribed just now. I look forward to watching all your videos.
This is so cool! You continue to show us new, exciting and different things in each video! Loved all the drone shots! That equipment was very cool! Love ❤️ you guys!!!! Grammy
That’s a very popular implement where I live at here in Texas. The dairy guys and gals love them. They use them in the cow pastures to aerate the soil. They use mostly straight flat disks and run the at 0 degrees with no baskets. And put new seed in. Doesn’t do all that much damage to the existing grass.
I would have thought discers would do a better till job but this machine does not turn the soil over as much so possibly it doesn’t lose as much moisture. Nice demo. Interesting concepts.
That new piece of equipment looks sort of like a combination of a harrow, a disc, and a cultipacker. Very cool to see so many different operations on one piece of equipment. Saves trips across the field!
Laura, the tillage equipment is great. He prepares the field very well. Soil consistency and soil preparation are suitable for planting. Greetings from turkey.
Super cool implement. Hopefully we get to see more of it? Gotta love those Nebraska sunsets-they are beautiful. Hopefully you got some of the rain today. Here’s to year 3 and I pray it’s a bountiful one.
Thank you for once again making me 😁 with your happy (but busy) videos. I will also predict, given an "average season, that you get a 3-5% yield increase from your new "tillage & aerator" implement. 🌾.
All of these technical terms you keep throwing around! "Spiky thingys", "Twirly Pizza cutters" and "Rolling Baskets"! How do you expect any of us common-folk to keep up with all of those fancy names?! Have mercy! 😆 (Very happy to hear that you're on the mend Laura!)
Laura it nice to see the even though you both like different technologies that you can still work together even be in the cab together 😊mabey you could do a calendar with some of the tractor cab sunsets 🤔thanks for sharing
Great video! You would think that on an implement such as the one at 5:49 / 13:27, they would install a hydraulic cylinder (instead of manual jack). You would just have to hook up a hose and set the height that way instead of all that hand cranking.
I remember the good ole days when you actually plowed a field turning the earth over then coming back with a disc to break it up further *Then* you come back with the planter. Now it looks like you could take this contraption, breakup the soil AND plant at the same time? Is this right?
Would you be able to install a close circuit TV system in your tractors so that you wouldn't have to be turning around all the time? I know there is nothing better than to have eyes on your equipment, but every other visual check you could just look up at a monitor. Save on the back and neck!!
You guys are the best, and always make me smile. I love how you explain that these are spikey thingies, these are twirly pizzacutters and these are roling baskets. Awesome explanation. LOL It does an awesome job though.
No we love you guys in the shop because not all of us are farmers but we have been dormant inside for the winter like you guys and are now just getting out in to our yards.......Prepping Lawns,,,,,,,,Mulching around our trees and houses, planting flowers .....literally just put down Crabgrass prevention(0-0-7)(PRODIAMINE) in my lawn(this is the week for northern region grasses for Crabgrass Prev. throw down....if you have NICE LAWN GRANT...hint hint! Throw er down) before my big weed and feed(Johnathan Green) Throw down on Cinco de Mayo etc. So it is fun to see your dormant time as well. Make sense????? Figured you two would enjoy some Fert. talk!!!! heh heh!!! But we love knowing that BIG G and Mz. Laura are going to be in the TRACTORS!!!!!!! We love going for the ride and seeing what each of your lunch and snacks are every day. The cool implements you are using that day....seeing your back up and hook up(to implement) skills are like. My fav and you know it......What Driveable Machinery(TRACTOR NUMBER) will they take through the MICKEY D'S drive through this year(SORRY don't want to spoil it but you made my day last summer when rd 2 happened.) We want to know Hmmmm???? will Grant bring Laura a Taco Bell Berry Blast? GREEN ONE in the hot summer field this year??? But please know You make our day all the time though. You are both such GREAT PEOPLE that are just genuine kind and nice so THANKS you TWO......know you are appreciated!!!
The technology today in farming is so much different with all their equipment from back in the '60s love your programs
Laura keep smiling when you do the whole world smiles back to you !11
God, don’t you just love these kids…..Pretty sure it’s my favorite content on CZcams.
What a great team Laura and Grant make. The more videos I watch the more I am amazed at the knowledge and skill that they both have.
NEVER Tired Of Riding In The Tractor Along With Laura Or Grant!! Whatever You Decide To Record I'm Ready To Watch!! Thank You!
Keep Smiling On!!
😀👍👊
We never get tired of watching you two work together. No matter what you are up to.
Drone view reminded me of SR71 pilot Brian Shul's remark, "The best way to see Nebraska is in 4-1/2 minutes!" 🤣😆 Helps to be going about 2,000mph!

Wow, that thing looks like some kind of a medieval death machine. Seems to work great!
Yes my favourite content on You Tube too. I check in daily to see if something new has been posted

You guys are farming on the cutting edge . You make a great team and are and inspiration to young farmers!

Laura and Grant make a dream team !😀😀
@O.G Autistler ahahahaha have you really been commenting on every single Laura farms vid just to say you dislike grant?
Great video with beautiful machinery!
We use a plugging machine and do our football field and the practice field and the go over them with potash and urea the turn on the sprinklers.
Love you guys and how well a married couple can work together! May God bless you both and your farm!

That disking does a real good job of moving all the soil profile
Y
Another great Farm Tech Talk episode brought to us by Laura Farms😀
This is so cool! You continue to show us new, exciting and different things in each video! Loved all the drone shots! That equipment was very cool! Love ❤️ you guys!!!! Grammy
Hello to you hard working farmers……..from New Zealand
The front spiky things as Laura puts it is to aerate the ground
Nice tillage...hope to see some cover crops being planted along with your main crop.

It's a giant garden weasel:)
I drove up the middle of Nebraska today, through you and Grants neck of the woods. Nebraska really is a beautiful state.
5:52 It amazes me that something that big, heavy and powerful can be consistently eased back by the millimeter
Farming has changed so much over the years I remember spending days on end just plowing !
Congratulations Laura on Laura Farms being the highest money making farm on CZcams.
8:34 that’s exactly what it is, and yes they have aerators for pasture and lawns.
It looks like the work has just begun, have a great season and harvest
Nice shoutout to VGG with the dipstick tasting
That new piece of equipment looks sort of like a combination of a harrow, a disc, and a cultipacker. Very cool to see so many different operations on one piece of equipment. Saves trips across the field!
That smiling face❤️
Spikey things = aerators. Pizza cutters = turbo blades. And double rolling baskets. Looks interesting. Nice video.
Something I do with my hydraulic hoses when I get them where I want them is color code them with zip ties !!!!!!!😊🌎🌞👍👍👍👍
Way to respect the flag......Blue field always to the left!!!! 👍👍
Love the videos Laura. Keep up the amazing work
Laura, the tillage equipment is great. He prepares the field very well. Soil consistency and soil preparation are suitable for planting. Greetings from turkey.
As an old farmer, I miss the hours in the seat at planting time. Hoping i9tgoes smoothly for all of you.
True vertical tillage machine. Those tine holes will be excellent for roots and water. Very nice cover crop seeder too.
Love learning all the "technical" names for the various farming implements!
That Rogue tillage implement with the rotating spikey thingies does a really good job breaking up the soil!
Those nice evening in the tractor are always the best! That drone shot with the sun behind the tractor is sweet!
Can we get an update video about the office room that you remodeled months ago, and had repainted, threw in a couch and more?
Super cool implement. Hopefully we get to see more of it? Gotta love those Nebraska sunsets-they are beautiful. Hopefully you got some of the rain today. Here’s to year 3 and I pray it’s a bountiful one.
Great working in the fields shots!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh Good Times back in the fields and tractor!!!!
Looking forward to how the Rogue performs in corn stubble. Looks to be very well built. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for once again making me 😁 with your happy (but busy) videos. I will also predict, given an "average season, that you get a 3-5% yield increase from your new "tillage & aerator" implement. 🌾.
Nice attachment
yes air in the soil is good you want lot of air for plants to grow
that I why I said so some crockpot meals just put whatever in the crockpot and turn it on low and you got a hot meal when you get home
Great use of the drone
hope you re better
Nice looking machine guys, I am always impressed at how the new farming equipment has been improved significantly compared to previous models...
Awesome video Laura farms and have a great day.
We love those "Laura-isms"! :-)
Your cinematography and drone work are getting really good! Let's be honest, too; you both give the camera plenty to work with!
Grate video as always
You would def distract me in the cab Laura
I Think your GarageDoor still needs some attention!❤️🥰👍Hope you had a Great Easter! And that your Grandfather is doing great. 🌾🚜🌽🥕🐇
Laura it nice to see the even though you both like different technologies that you can still work together even be in the cab together 😊mabey you could do a calendar with some of the tractor cab sunsets 🤔thanks for sharing
I have that exact hat Grant has on and I wear it riding around on my John Deere riding lawn mower. No guidance system. I gotta get my fun where I can!
The result looks good, I think the roots will have a good opportunity to grow. As long as you have moisture.
Succes an I'll look ve to see the result.
It's an aerator combined with discs. You guys need to come play golf with me.
Good work and looking lovely
Hmmm. The tillage tool looks like a winner. Interesting how the tool does a such a good job - amazing job of soil aeration . Thanks for the video!
Take care from Saskatchewan,Canada 🙂🙂
Awesome tool.
Greetings from Estonia
Farm equipment is Tonka toys for grownups.
Great video! You would think that on an implement such as the one at 5:49 / 13:27, they would install a hydraulic cylinder (instead of manual jack). You would just have to hook up a hose and set the height that way instead of all that hand cranking.
Hope you all do better than us up on the north east did last year.
Living here in West Virginia, I spit out my coffee laughing when you mentioned the tractor working when you started up a hill.🤣
I'm such a city boy that I have no idea what I'm looking at when ur digging in the dirt😮😅😊
You should demo the See and Spray technology on the new John Deere sprayers!
I remember the good ole days when you actually plowed a field turning the earth over then coming back with a disc to break it up further *Then* you come back with the planter.
Now it looks like you could take this contraption, breakup the soil AND plant at the same time? Is this right?
We are never bored with you and Grant!
Love the drone footage
Very great video for the farm and shop work
Wow fantastic
I love watching farming videos it reminds me of Farming Simulator 22
Nice tool!
Instead of the JD logo on the front, you should paint a BIG yellow smiley face that covers the counter weights in the front 🙂🙂🙂 LOL
Only thing better is a Tennessee sunset lol
Ooooo, Spiky Thingies 👀 😍
great job on drone actoin
Pretty bad ass Equipments looks really cool and kinda of scary
I insist that Laura change the oil !!! And recorded too ! Lol...
Those two big tubs sitting up there look like yoghurt tubs from the store GIANT SIZE
Great demo thank you for sharing Laura and Grant but I don't see many people tilling there farms anymore is this the case at your farm.
Would you be able to install a close circuit TV system in your tractors so that you wouldn't have to be turning around all the time?
I know there is nothing better than to have eyes on your equipment, but every other visual check you could just look up at a monitor.

Awesome explanation. LOL
It does an awesome job though.
Great video. Sorry to hear you were under the weather. I've been fighting allergies for about 3 weeks. Dang Oak trees. Anyway, Thanks for the content
John Deere guidance is very familiar to me!
