  • đŸ”„ Prepare to be amazed as we take a deep dive into the stellar career of MLB legend Jim Edmonds and his jaw-dropping catches that left fans in awe. From fearless dives to gravity-defying leaps, Edmonds redefined outfield brilliance. In this video, we showcase his top 8 career catches that etched his name in baseball history.
Former MLB Outfielder Jim Edmonds was a special player who delivered special plays when crunch-time came. His career is often overlooked as one deserving of a Hall of Fame induction. But to put it simply: Jimmy Baseball was a winner.
Explore the artistry of Jim Edmonds' outfield skills and relive the moments that secured his legacy as one of the greatest defensive players in MLB history. Edmonds was a wizard in the outfield and always seemed to come up with a spectacular snag. He received 8 Gold Glove Awards, all of which either as a member of the Angels or Cardinals.
Although there are a bevy of defensive highlights Edmonds made, these 8 catches represent each time he received the accolade. Jimmy Ballgame was a 4x All-Star, 2006 World Series Champ, and a Silver Slugger. He was elected to the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame in 2014 as a main contributor to their Championship team in 2006.

We need to petition them to give him another ballot. They did him so dirty with not even giving him 2.5% on his first and only ballot. What did he do? Is he a secret nazi or some shit? I just don’t get it. They just let Mauer in and he isn’t as good as Edmonds was, defensively or offensively. There’s guys who made it in who were not as good as Edmonds.

He also had one of the best 5-year-runs offensively by any center fielder in baseball history.
      From 2000 to 2004, he *averaged* 36 homers with a 1.003 OPS (157 OPS+) while winning 5 gold gloves.
His exclusion from the Hall is near Lou Whitaker levels of absurdness.

An aspect of that #1 catch that I rarely see called out: the fact he doesn’t even turn his head around. He got a last glance of the ball straight over his head, judges the trajectory, lays out and snags it. It’s one thing to make a full extension catch like that when the ball is at an angle, but this was almost exactly straight over his head, meaning there was a moment that he didn’t have visibility on the ball.

There's no doubt Jim Edmonds made some amazing catches. But I always questioned did Jim Edmonds have to make amazing catches because he had to make up for a lack of Blazing speed? In other words does a guy with better speed who plays center field make those catches look more routine? Just thinking out loud.

Whats even more impressive with that #1 is he literally catches it bare handed and scoops it into his glove hand.
