11g Coffee : 150g Water 200°F (TWW)
Grind:
20clix Comandante C40 or
10 Baratza Encore
Pours:
Start- 30g - 30g
30s- 30g - 60g
55s- 45g - 105g
1m20s- 45g - 150g
Drain by ~2m

Hi, what grind setting would you recommend for a Fellow Ode?
Unfortunately, even at the 1 setting, the Ode is not quite fine enough for this recommended recipe. If you'd like something similar. Please see our Kalita recipe. Ground on 1- 1 2/3 should be the starting point for this coffee.
Time was closer to 3:10 with a V60 even at 22 on a C40. Should I grind courser or adjust for something else?
Was it this coffee? You could grind coarser and also be sure to agitate in the middle of the brewer. I wonder if the V60 filters are slower flowing again.

@@2o3i4j3 Well, a couple years back Hario changed their filters and they are much slower now. Besides that I've found them to be somewhat inconsistent. How was the cup at 3m drain? If you water is soft it should still be a great cup.

Disappointed with my results so far. I've brewed this about 6 times on my V60 -01 following the same recipe and am not getting any fruity notes. Bitter. Tastes too strong maybe? I've adjusted my grind (encore #11) to get the 2:00 drain time and am using more center pours. Coffee was roasted 7 days ago. Any ideas?
That's strange that it's not fruity at all, even at 2:00 in a V60. The center pours should help with a V60, these small pulses are really built for a kalita brew. But, we found this coffee fruity in a wide range. I wouldn't be afraid of going to 12 and draining before 2m. You could also try diluting with about 10g of water. Any ideas about your water quality?
@@OnyxCoffeeLab Thanks I will try going for under 2 minutes. I'm using Crystal Geyser bottled water at 200 degrees. Yeah it's strange. Hardly any sweetness or fruity notes. I tried in Kalita 185 today after finally finding some filters and not much difference. Definitely more body from the Kalita. Do you think the coffee is too fresh and should rest longer?
@@jaredflores2010 Interesting, I'm not familiar with Crystal Geyser's mineral content, but looks to be around 115ppm, this recipe was brewed using 150ppm. But, that shouldn't be as big an issue. If it is strong and bitter, that would indicate needing to grind more coarse.

I'm not familiar with that grinder, this was ground finer than traditional V60 setting, but not as fine as espresso.
is it ok to pour at the filter paper? will it cause too much bypass?

This was a re-post based on request. Unfortunately, this coffee sold out during pre-order. But, the recipe can be used and is great for other coffees.
Looks like they have a Gesha from Cerro Azul farm as part of the Colombia Cafe Granja box sets. Seems extremely promising :P.
Would you suggest the same recipe for a v60
You can get similar results from the V60, though the body will not be as heavy and I would aim for this same drain time.
Can y'all tell what 17-21 click would be on a 1zpresso JX Pro?
I'm not sure exactly. Does the 1zpresso JX Pro list the micrometrics of their adjustments? For the Comandante, each click is 30 microns. So the setting range is 510-630 micron setting.

@@gusroden5242 looks like each click is 12.5microns. So 41-50clicks. That is similar to the red-clix for Comandante, which are 15microns per click. Pretty cool, though a little annoying that its such an odd number per adjustment, but nice and small.
