I actually watch your shorts almost every time when there are vocabulary posted. They are deep but I like to learn.
Opaque can be used to describe the paint or color which you can't see through. It will cover other color. And the video with more examples of explanations is better for me to learn. Thank you Rachel!

What a wonderful lesson, how have you done this video cuts for the words from different sources, is it possible somehow doing this automatically or only manually, thanks?
All right. We're going to GRE now. Awesome. That's new to me. I'll have to look into it. Coincidently, I've been working some new words with some advanced students and I have to say, vocabulary in English is endless. Boy! Thanks, Rachel. Since it's my first message this year, Happy 2024 for you and your family.
Happy New Year @englishforever!

Thank you!
Hello Rechel I am prepering for IELTS what do you think your course can helps men for this
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rachel, do you have this exercise on Rachel's Academy? Cuz I guess I have just found my new cup of tea. Let me know. I loved it. I still have the words circling in my head. Great exercise.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I will be making more of these, and I'll also keep updating my vocabulary practice materials in the Academy.
I actually was already familiar with all of these. I like your presentation, though. Those who may not have known them at all, or at least not what they meant, will now. Great teaching video!
Thank you @roquelleroqueramone4340!
@@rachelsenglish You're very welcome!
thank you for your efforts to assuage our confusions/ concerns
can someone corroborate the story
You're welcome @yasmineelhadi5511!
Most of these words have a latin base, similar words we have in spanish
❤
5:53 Does "bloom" have one or two syllables?
One syllable, but it will feel long because of the BL cluster + the OO vowel.

Is there any difference between "alleviate" and "assuage"? thx for the video, good stuff.
Yes, they can sometimes mean the same thing (make a situation better), but "assuage" can also have the meaning of satisfying an appetite.
"Enigma" are the same in Spanish, that's good. "Ephemeral" is "Efimero" in Spanish is the same meaning and almost the same or alike pronunciation.
"Opaque" i think it was "opaco" but i think more and not are the same meaning. Because opaco is like the colour that not bright
Thanks for sharing @Sir_Lancel0t!
Opaque - Thank you Greek - Similar to Portuguese. Enigma = meaning and spelling in PORTUGUESE. YAY.
Opportunism. Whoa! Mercurial - Fred Mercury? Irascible = Testy. This is one of the words I worked with my students last year: testy. I thought politicians were different in the USA, but I guess most of them are looking for opportunism. I am irascible if I do not have my cup of joe in the morning.
Is assuage the same as alleviate?
Yes, sometimes they can both have the same meaning, which is to make something easier or less intense. However, assuage can also have the meaning of "to satisfy", such as with an appetite.
@@rachelsenglish I appreciate the answer, thank you!:)
Let me try again: ephemeral, enigma, mercurial, misanthrope, opportunism, irascible, corroborate, assuage, opaque. Ta-dá!
Great!
Quiz time. Let me try to remember the nine words: irascible, misanthrope, mercurial, assuage, ephemeral, enigma, can't recall three.
opaque, corroborate and, opportunism - Damn it. Now, let me take the quiz. Promise, no cheating. I just need to pause to read cuz I am visually challenged.
Great! Enjoy @englishforever!
Long time now see Rachel.
You are beautiful , beautiful.....
Assoiation - Cool. Assuage - blow my nose - IN PORTUGUESE. And, when I "blow my nose, I reduce the intensity of boogers in my nose. Disgusting, I know. But, effective. I'll never forget this word.
Thanks for sharing @englishforever!
👍❤🌹🍑☕
Stupid ENIGMA. I made two mistakes. Both with the word enigma. Damn it.
Corroborate -Ephemral - Thank you Greek. MisANTHROPE. Anthropology (the study of people) Mis - Prefix (NOT). Don't like human. hahaha. Would you believe I made this association before watching the video? hahahahah We're in sync, Rachel.
