I prefer mods when playing PvP though when I'm playing alone, I almost always go vanilla- playing on easy is crazy fun.

It's a red star. Granted it is not actually the insignia of the PLAAF but I'd say it's close enough. the PLAAF briefly used the red star as its insignia before changing it at the request of the Soviets to differentiate it from the Soviet airforce.
