  • Both cameras were at F4mm and 100mm and 400mm ISO and the shutter speed and autofocus were set by the cameras in intelligent auto mode. The out-of-focus open and close by the FZ1000ii Face detection continuous autofocus.

Good comparison George. Other than a small difference in color balance, the difference is minimal with a small resolution advantage for the FZ1000 II but a sharpness difference is negligible. Have a nice day.

Thanks George. I appreciate your videos and your efforts to present great comparisons. Keep'em coming sir.

Cool. A little color shift here & there but overall to my CZcams eyes, nothing major.

Although it is hard to judge on a phone screen, watching a youtube video, the quality of the FZ-1000 II is clearly better than the FZ300. Even when not cropped to look at detail, the overall rendering is much more natural to me.

Thank you for watching! You are correct the FZ1000ii gives a better picture, but do you think the lens is as sharp as the FZ300?

@@georgeeharrison4293 I watched it again on a larger and higher resolution screen. The FZ1000 II images are all sharper and show more resolution. And these samples are all in good light; I'd expect the FZ300 to hit limitations quicker in lower light. That's not to say it isn't a good camera; it just has a much smaller sensor to work with. The only thing is the longer zoom range of the FZ300. However, If you crop the FZ1000 II's images to an effective 600mm eq. lens field of view, it will still hold up very well in comparison. Anyway, I'm picking up a used (very good condition) FZ1000 II for less than a new FZ300. Primarily for an upcoming safari. We'll see how it goes...

The differences are small indeed. The colour difference is what I noticed more. It seems like the FZ1000ii renders darker photos, can easily be fixed in PP. However, the longer reach of the FZ300/330, constant F2.8 and weather sealing is a draw for me. I have M4/3 bodies, was going to buy a longer lens for birding and the like, but the cost and size was a deterrent. So, am considering on this for my wildlife shooting.

      @georgeeharrison4293  Před rokem +1

The longer reach, weather sealing, lighter, and the batteries last a lot longer, and faster focus is also a plus. Thank you for watching.

Curious which one you would recommend for someone wanting to get into self filming for hunting… I won’t say all but majority of the season a lot of action is that first 30-hr of sunrise and 30-hr before sunset … would the fz1000 be that much better and over ride the weather sealing of the fz300

    • @georgeeharrison4293

Thank you for watching. Because of the low light, you will be filming the FZ1000ii would be a better choice. You can find some good rain covers on eBay for under 25 dollars, are you can make your own out of a gallon-size Ziplock bag and waterproof tape.

Great stills comparison video, Mr. Harrison!
I have the FZ300 and am thinking about also getting the FZ1000 II for it's larger sensor/advantages.
Question... If I crop an FZ1000 II image taken at 400mm to get the same size photo of, say a bird, shot at 600mm on the FZ300, will the FZ1000 III image look the same, worse, or better than the FZ300's native 4000x3000 pixel image? I really appreciate the 600mm focal length and the close-ups I can achieve with it and the shorter 400mm focal length on the FZ1000 ii is my only concern. If I can crop to make up for that and the image still looks as good or better than the FZ300, I'm good.
Your feedback will be much appreciated!

If you crop in with the FZ1000ii because you have 8 more megapixels to use it will look close to the same. Remember you will lose some of the advantages of the larger sensor when you zoom all the way in the FZ1000ii is F4 at 400mm the FZ300 is F2.8 at 600mm

@@georgeeharrison4293 I received my FZ2500 this afternoon and did a comparison shot at 600mm on my FZ300 and the FZ2500 at 480mm in bright sunlight, the FZ2500 as close to f4/ISO 100 as possible; the sweet spot on my FZ300. I did some very minimal post-processing on each RAW file, (same settings on both), cropping in on the 480mm shot so that both images were the same side-by-side. The FZ2500 photo was noticeably better, with a sharper, more detailed image and much less noise even cropped in. Zooming in another 200% and the FZ2500 was definitely better and usable. So, it looks like I can crop in tighter than an equivalent 600mm and still beat the FZ300. Agreed the aperture is a little less forgiving in the FZ2500 (and the FZ2500 is heavy!) but I've got great photos out of my FZ300 (See my channel's recent FZ300 sample images video) and I anticipate even better with the FZ2500. My FZ300 will be for easy-carry, damp, day trips and my FZ2500 for those 'special' photos. I would have gotten the FZ1000 II, as it has Bluetooth, but since Amazon currently has both at the same price, the FZ2500 was a better value purchase IMHO, especially with built-in ND filters, 480mm FL and its video capabilities. I looked at the RX10 IV, but the feature set was lacking what Panasonic offers and the hefty price just doesn't justify the better lens, especially when I can quickly post-process the RAW file to improve the Lumix images.

Which one did you prefer? The difference was very little.also what camera do you prefer in the fz1000 price range..I'm looking into the fz1000..but I'm starting to think I should look elswhere

If I take photos are video doing the day are early evening the FZ300 is my choice. Very low light are at night the FZ1000ii which does not answer your question, but it depends on what I am doing. What will you be doing most videos are photos? That will help with your decision to narrow your choice down between Sony, Nikon, Canon, and Panasonic. My 2 picks were the FZ1000ii and the Sony RX10iv I rented both cameras for a week and tested both of them together on the same video and photo shoot. The RX10iv is a little better I was willing to pay $300.00 more but not the $800.00 more it was going to cost. If you have it in your budget it is a very good camera, but for the price, the FZ1000ii is a very good camera.

@@zoso2850 Just about any camera that came out in the last 5 years will work fine for what she needs. Pick a top price that you will pay and then look for cameras in that price range, that will make it a little better to narrow down your picks.

Impressive results. I‘ve thought the differences must be bigger. The FZ1000 looks a little sharper, but it’s 300 Euros more to spend on that camera here in germany. Not an easy decision.

@@georgeeharrison4293Great surprise: a good friend owns a FZ300 and he does not use it anymore, because he went on to DSLR. He gave it to me, and now I can test this camera by myself. He is somewhat mad ( in a good way) and he will give it to me as a birthday present. Lucky me… my first impressions: I am positively surprised. Of course low light is not the thing this camera is made for, but not unusable, in daylight it’s pretty good. Full moon pictures are awesome, when you think about the small sensor.
You need some time reading the manual and customize the settings for your personal comfort.

Hello George, I am responding a bit late...I have a Fz1000 and it is a great camera. The only thing that irritates me is that it zooms in and out rather slow. Also it is not that good at focussing in a distance. You feel the quesion coming: is the fz 300 any better in this respect?
