@@belovedrock. sorry you're mistaken, yes he was on the call, he listened to every word of it withe a couple of other people. But on his testimony he said that there was no "quid pro quo" bit he "believed" there was. In a jury you cant assume anything as evidence, its either it happend or didnt, nothing in between. Also, the ambassador was the same testimony, he was under assumption that something happend but when they ask him again he said no but presumed. Also, the phone transcript was released right away which was taken by one of their stenographer. Again, nothing incriminating, when the house didn't allowed the president to call in witnesses was a violation of due process, under the constitution every American have the rights to a speedy trial, due process and witnesses, the house violated all of that in one go so the Senate did in fact took revenge on how the house conducted their investigations

I wonder why nancy pelosi didnt added that to the article 🤔 because they didn't had the evidence my friend. Imagine if you got arrested for a minor ticket infection then when you go to court the prosecution team tries to add charges that wasn't affiliated with the infraction, let say possession of cocaine and a dui after the fact that you only got arrested for a ticket and then the prosecutor denies you to call witnesses, the original affidavit, the deposition, the evidence of the actual cocaine and denial to confront your accuser, denial of speedy trial and drag your case on for months. "Don't boo, vote."
Ooooh, Goddamn. I felt that even over here in Michigan
Edit: Well look who blew the fuck up. Goddamn y'all.
And I ain't no political commentator but, to those that feel like voting doesn't matter in the wake of the 2016 election, here's what I keep reminding myself when my cynicism starts to dwell on that feeling:
45% of all eligible, 2016 voters didn't vote and you can be absolutely certain that margin was even bigger when it came to the primaries. And I imagine if we got a breakdown of political preference amongst non-voters, a very small (if at all existent) section would be made up of Conservative Republicans.
My point being this: the system may be corrupt, but that's because everyone outside of the conservative camp is making it easy for it to be. It's easy for electorates to skew the numbers in their favor when the results are nearly 50/50. You can chalk up 3 million votes to a 2% margin of error or invalid voters; it's harder to do that with 120+ mil votes.
And if for nothing else, having as complete of a voter turn out as possible come November 2020 will let us finally say, with almost absolute certainty, that the American Democratic System has hit a level of corruption in which it is beyond repair and we can feel justified in metaphorically torching the whole thing.
    Just my two cents tho

But, Richard Nixon only resigned because back then, he didn't have a way to prove the Watergate Scandal was a lie against him. His only option was to just resign because, even if he would have won the case due to lack of obvious solid evidence, the people would have believed the stories and ran him out of office, so he just took the dignity he had left, and just resigned to avoid public backlash. There was no legitimate proof of the scandal being true, and it was even proven not too long ago after the investigation was re-opened just because people were comparing Nixon to Trump, or vice-versa; after the new investigation was finished, it was concluded that without a doubt, Nixon was actually innocent and had nothing to do with Watergate. That and a sub investigation stated that Nixon "Might" not have been involved.

Trump didn't stop witnesses in the senate. That was up the Senators and they had every LEGAL right to do it to stop dragging on this partisan kangaroo court. Pelosi and Schiff both said they would not do this in a partisan manner and then went ahead anyway. Democrat House reps failed the first time and didn't get the results they wanted. Too bad. There was no crime just vague claims of "abuse of power" and "obstruction of congress".
Obama has gotten a lot of criticism from the black American community for not helping blacks. Tavis Smiley is one of them. There are however many blacks who say they agree with Trump and he is helping them through prison reform, ending illegal immigration, among other things.
Pointing out these FACTS does not make me a Trump "fanatic" or "cult" member. Your temper tantrum does make you look unhinged. YOU are the one being deluded by these partisan pro DNC propaganda shows like Daily Show. But that is OK, right??

Or is at least good enough at pretending not to know or care about circular logic that he speaks the way he does. He's a shock jock. His job isn't to be smart or tell the truth it is to stir up anger in his base and to say outrageous things. Which is why you get bullshit about Obama being an angry black man who's policies "were definitely going to be" about reparations and getting back at white America. Limbaugh wouldn't deserve even a 5th grade oratory competition medal. He also doesn't need it. He has been doing fine on his own in his 600 million dollar net worth with his 80 million dollar salary pretending to care about every day conservatives like he has a clue about every day normal life and making money off of people who just want him to confirm their views and tell them everything wrong is due to everyone they already hate.
The guy lies all the time and probably only got a medal because he spouted the lie that there was no cross examination of witnesses in the house impeachment hearing. Which the only thing you have to do to know that was a blatant lie is watch the videos of the proceedings posted in their entirety at CSPAN online. I guess he knows his audience are suckers enough to not check facts that make them angry.

The only waste of time was the Senate trial, because the Republicans said beforehand that they would acquit Trump no matter what, for the sake of their party. We already knew they weren't going to be objective. The trial was a sham because they blocked all witnesses and evidence. So you can blame the GOP for that waste of time because they ran the show.

    • @LC-sc3en
      @LC-sc3en Před 4 lety +4

@Anthony DelVecchio if he did nothing wrong then they could prove it with a fair trial. He complained for days about not being able to testify then his own party didn't allow anyone to testify. McConnell set the rules so that it would be as boring and as quick as possible and so that no witnesses were allowed so they could better hide the fact that everything the Democrats said was true and from eye witnesses. In no other trial would the "everyone who says anything bad about me is just a bitter person that decided to join a conspiracy against me after years of service to their country with integrity." But that's how Trump works he's bled allys and appointees more than any other modern president and nearly everyone of them whether they left of their own volition or he fired them for not obstructing justice in the way he wanted (re Jeff Sessions) have said he's shady as hell. That's not normal. People usually part with the administration they serve at worst respectfully and cited differences of opinion. Even the Republicans who voted to acquit said that Trump had done something wrong. They just claimed that it "wasn't enough to impeach on". A non partisan review board ruled that his action was actually illegal due to the law passed after the Nixon Impeachment which states that the president has to go through congress and proper channels in order to withhold congressionally approved aid.
You are just regurgitating party lines. Are you just here to stir discord? Or are really going to listen to the guy who allowed his attorney to argue "A sitting president can do anything to help himself get reelected because he believes himself being reelected is in the best interest of the country. Therefore it is serving his country to do so." ANYTHING. That's Putin talk. Hope you like your dictatorships where opponents to whoever is in charge coincidentally get killed while visiting foreign countries. Accountability comes from the top. The buck is supposed to stop there; and if we cannot hold the President accountable for flagrant corruption (anyone watching the entirety of the congressional proceedings on CSPAN would see it as such) then we are sacrificing our democracy. People will watch and immitate his tactics, and next thing you know, sitting mayors are using their control over police departments to lean on them to announce trumped up investigations into political opponents.
This is serious. This isn't us versus them. It's about us not becoming the next country known world wide for corruption in politics. This is about the heart of our democracy where the ideal is our elected officials serve the people, not themselves, and our oaths of office are sacred.
