"My sleep was interrupted shortly after I had gone to bed. I had a lot of assignments due the night before, therefore I stayed up late. After finally submitting all my due assignments, I could finally lay down and rest. But not long after I had closed my eyes, my phone started ringing. I felt annoyed at first, my hard-earned sleep was getting interrupted. I wanted to ignore the call, however, my gut was telling me not to. I stared at my phone until it was close to falling off the edge of my table from vibrating so much, and finally decided to pick up. I thought my parents and brother were asleep, so I made my way downstairs to talk. My eyes were blurry from how I tired I was, and I hadn't bothered checking my screen to see who was calling me, so when I heard my mom's voice on the other line, I was surprised. I guess she wasn't asleep after all? I asked her what was wrong, why she wasn't asleep, and... is she even home at all? I didn't get a response. It wasn't until a few seconds later that I heard my mom sniffle. It sounded as if... she had been crying. I immediately became really alert and worried. I was so confused, why wasn't anyone providing the context I needed? I kept on asking her what's happening, this time in a demanding tone. When she finally spoke, all she said was "it's about your brother." I became even more anxious, me and King have always been close to each other, what could've happened to him? So were neither of my parents or brother at home? I panicked and started talking with a stutter. When I didn't get any response from my mom, I calmed down. She wasn't understanding me, I needed to talk slower. It took her a moment, but when she finally broke the news to me, it wasn't news anyone would've wanted to hear. So many thoughts started invading my mind, "this can't be right" "I must be dreaming right now." "we talked about this..." "*he promised me he wouldn't...*" My head started aching, tears started streaming down my face, I couldn't process. My brother... had attempted suicide."
