I know I’m only about 4 years late (that’s besides the point), but when Derek said part of him wanted to sit the balloons out bc he was in the lead , but said he would do it for his fans, then Brett says “what fans?” so stealthily. Since the first bucket is about 0.25 meters, each proceeding bucket stacked would only add 0.0064 meters (since everything but the brim is inside of the previous bucket). Since the tower is 45 meters, 0.25+(45-0.25)/0.0064=6992, there would be about 6992 BUCKETS.
