  • The Tellico River is intensively managed by TWRA to provide a quality trout fishing experience in the Cherokee National Forest. In order to provide this unique experience, TWRA has special regulations and licensing in place. This virtual series will provide an overview of the Tellico River area and details on what is required to legally fish this river for trout. There will be a short video highlighting key landmarks on the river to guide you on your journey. Tellico Hatchery Manager Jon Ellis will then provide an overview of the Tellico Hatchery and Tellico River Trout Fishery. TWRA Fisheries Biologist Travis Scott will provide an in-depth discussion of the rules and regulations and licensing needed to fish the Tellico River. This information will provide new and veteran Tellico anglers with everything they need to have a successful trout fishing experience and maybe even catch a Tellico Trophy!

Thanks to TWRA we have the greatest outdoor access anywhere in America. The best fishing, hunting, and outdoor adventures. Hats off to those officers who dedicate their lives to ensure these areas remain available. Thanks!!

I want to say I truly appreciate this video, and TWRA especially! I'm from Ky, and I've learned from my 64 years of life using both states and several more states, Tenn is leaps and bounds ahead in truly being there to help and protect the resources of the people, but especially for the people, businesses, communities, all good things. TWRA has always done things right, and even been understanding and forgiving to me and everyone when in the wrong by mistake! This the way it should be done, and ive spent 100's more my money in Tenn as compared to my home state because of this and glad to continue to do so!
And plan to expand my outdoor ventures in a new place, Tellico R.and Tellico Plains businesses!
    Thank You TWRA!

This really brought back some memories of when my dad Stan managed the hatchery 30 years ago! Thank you for bringing back good memories

I recently released a video about the North River area but will have to get back to the River Road campsites. We have also been to Citico and loved it.

You are amazing there, we used to visit the river every year and sometimes twice for trout finish except last year for the reasons we know, mostly in June where the water temperature start being acceptable to enjoy many of the swimming holes you have. Keep doing what you do, just great work.

Ya’ll definitely filmed this in winter on purpose LOL! Been up there for over 30 years, in the spring and summer be prepared to carry your own rock to stand on. Why? Because the place is magnificent!
