So basically he still gained exp when he lost, so he fought way above his level so he'd learn quicker despite losing lol
Pretty much how you get good at fighting or fighting games you just play people that absolutely destroy you but then everyone below that gets easier
Well, to be fair. If you lose in that "game" you die, and you can't still learning
@@taylorbee4010 well, if you genius it is. But in another case, you can actively play with strong people for years without much result. as it usually happens, this is not visible because those who achieve nothing sooner or later give up and leave, on the contrary, those who succeeded and became strong stand out against the general background
@@user-cd5fm3hh9k I would say the best learning experience is playing with people that are significantly stronger than you but not so much that you can't even put a fight since then you will just lose before you even get to try anything
Damn, that's a really cool way of putting it.. Now I can't even begin to imagine what his lvl would have been!!
I just realized something: "if you lose your sword, use your fists! If you lose your fists, use you teeth!"
Poseidon did the same thing during his final moments. Kojiro cut his hand off, so Poseidon used the hand he had left to crush the hand gripping his trident and then that one got cut off too. Then poseidon used his mouth to hold his weapon.
Didn't notice that till now.
So Poseidon was a true warrior? 🤔

True. Lots of philosophical reasons behind this.

And that's whats fascinating about him among the others. When a human is chosen they are chosen at the point in the life when they were at their prime. As a result. All of the human fighters are young. Mid to late thirties at most. The muscles make them look older. But Kojiro looks about sixty or seventy when he fights.

Can't believe I read that as "boning his sword"
@@furionmax7824 There is also this interesting aspect of most successful human fightins so far always being the opposite in concept of their opponent, while humans who try to match their opponent in their speciality fail. Lu Bu and Thor are both the strongest warriors and Thor ends up winning, same with Adam being the Father of Humanity and Zeus being the Father of Gods, while Adam matches Zeus in terms of speed and strength he ends up falling short in terms of durability. Poseidon and Sasaki on the other hand are total opposites, one being the greatest god and the other the greatest loser, here Sasaki counters Poseidons superior power and perfection with his own adaptability and constant growth, which ends up winning him the match. And spoilers
With Hercules against Jack the Ripper, its again an opposites match, Hercules being the most just god and Jack the most evil human. Jack manages to counter Hercules superior strength and direct combat style by fighting dirty, strategically and using the environment to his own advantage, basically countering brawns with brains. With Raiden vs Shiva on the other hand, its again a fight where both combatants have similar strengths, being martial artists and Raiden ends up losing. So far, humans always win when they use their own adaptability and intelligence against the power of the gods.
It's kinda funny to me that in both Fate/Stay Night and Record of Ragnarok they made the artistic decision to make Sasaki just . . . the prettiest of men. Like, was that part of the story?
Even in Vagabond
Sasaki Kojiro in Musou Orochi looked like a mature looking woman
I don't think he was portrayed as particularly beautiful in the original story, but I think people make him that way to further contrast him with Musashi. A lot of stories portray Musashi as a bit of a country roughneck, and it might have to do with him either having eczema when he was an infant or because some stories said he never took a bath so that he wouldn't be ambushed. He also did a lot of wandering and dueling and didn't have a permanent residence for a while, so I guess they'd see him as a vagrant/technical hobo? Kojiro, who was portrayed as Musashi's rival in many works, would then be a beautiful man.

Fun Fact : This Story is real. 1612 at morning on the 13th April at Ganryu-Island Sasaki Kojirou and Miyamoto Musashi fought to Death. At the end Sasaki died and Miyamoto won. You can also read the Manga Vagabond. Its about the whole life of Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojirou. Its Art is considered one of the greatest in all of Manga´s. Vagabond is incomplete
@@abhisheksrivastava3852 even incomplete it is one of the top 3 manga of all time
Actual fact: there is insufficient historical account to be sure this story is real, or that Sasaki Kojiro even existed. Many of the events of Musashi's life as told by Musashi himself couldn't be corroborated by other sources with any consistency, which includes the story of Kojiro. Musashi was a self-promoting ronin who may have lied about much of his life in order to make his memoirs more entertaining.

Sasaki kojiri really take “task failed succesfully” to the whole new level
Kind of annoying to keep seeing Kojiro portrayed as a loser. In real life Kojiro never lost a fight...till his last one of course! If you are a swordsman that is pretty much how they all go, but Kojiro was rather famous and even Musashi admitted Kojiro was a better swordsman, but Musashi won through strategy, which included being an ass and psyching out his opponent first. Which by the way is a pretty effective way to win a fight. If you can win the mental battle before the fight begins, your opponent will lose before he can even do anything.
Depend on who you talk to, popular culture have musashi as the winner. But let the record shown that his apprentices kill kojiro.
But he lost in his last battle with his opponent tho according to anime idk abt real life
Where can I info myself abt swordsman like u?
Pls
@UwU history is replete with stories about legendary swordsman throughout the world. If you want to know more about Musashi & Kojiro (real people) then you can read the historical (fiction) of the author Eiji Yoshikawa who wrote a series about Myamoto Musashi whose real name was Shimmen Takezo. Musashi is the name of a small village he grew up in. Encyclopedia Brittanica says his name was Myamoto Masana and also called, "Niten" or two swords.

I like this because it helps throw down what modern society believes about losing. In this day and age losing, or rather failing to be more precise, is seen as a detriment and if you do so you're useless. Kojiro fought and lost, failed, over and over again but what does he do? Does he let it get him down? No he learns from his losses and becomes stronger and stronger not even letting death stop him from growing. Losing is not a bad thing, you will lose in life success is never guaranteed, you have to work in order to win. Kojiro knows this but he was content on losing because he is humble and does not care about winning.
Really sad a character that has a backstory this amazing was used in a manga where he has one fight, still love RoR, but a character like this would be dope af in a battle manga
this whole manga has one main plot which is fighting god in a tourney to not be told to go extinct, and you know tourneys, match time, rules etc, which is weird
Yeah this backstory was insane
I would really reccomend the mang Vagabond if you haven't read it. Even though the main character is Musashi, Kojiro gets a serious panel time after his introducing.
read vagabond a true master piece both miyamoto and kojiro are mentioned
If you haven't knew yet. Lu Bu, the first of the humans to fight in this anime, has his very own spinoff manga depicting his life before death and ragnarok. Maybe, just maybe, Kojiro might get one too.
And there's another manga with one of the human fighters, Souji Okita is present.
After reading Vagabond its so weird to hear "Not once in his life did Kojiro Sasaki win a fight"
Real Kojiro was a monster samurai

The first victory in this Japanese anime and manga came from a Japanese figure, huh? And I am completely okay with that. Sasaki earned the win thematically. He used the gamer method of fighting the same boss until you could speedrun them. And he acquired the fighting styles of all of those he fought. Poseidon wasn't fighting one human. He was fighting the culmination of years of human achievement in the field of Japanese swordplay.
the world's greatest loser turned out the world's greatest victor. truly poetic.

Its really nice to see the comments about kumagawa misogi, feels nice and somewhat nostalgic
Probably the most impactful fight for me so far in the manga but they butchered it in the anime. Hell they butchered everything in the manga. History's Greatest Loser deserved better 😔

That one friend who didn't study but still manage to get good scores
I love this guy's backstory so much
Some People say, that even to this day he's still guarding a certain front Gate... Or at least he does so in an alternate timeline / universe
He isn't a loser at this stage lol...he's honed his sword skills so much, but was it really necessary for them to kill each other in a fight? Like can't they just leave one another with injuries or broken bones?
It was the culture at the time. Losing or admitting defeat was dishonourable, and many samurai or samurai aspirants would die rather than accept defeat. That Sasaki accepted loss each time, then, slaps in the face of that culture.

The best thing about Record of Ragnarok is that the author did his research on both the humans and the gods.
Did some fact checking. And all of it matched up. Except for one: Jack the Ripper. And it's bc he was never caught IRL so there's no a lot of info on him. The only suspect they had was a polish Jew named Aaron Kominski. And that's it.

Remember, if you learn from your mistakes, you'll make Shure not to do it again, so he never lost.
this might not make sense at first but then it does. the quintessential of a paradox.
If you lose your sword then use your fist, if you lose your fist then use your teeth. Kinda ironic thats what poseidon did. His trident and arm got cut so he grabbed them both with his other hand that one got cut so he grabed the trident with his teeth

Ah yes the man who has a technique that can bend reality that was developed simply due to him trying to slay a swallow.

its like people always say. you learn more from your defeats than your victories. if you always win, what reason would there be for most people to bother learning more? in defeat, and humility, comes strempf.
So to him everyone is a huge swallo
Dude hes my idol now.
It’s kinda funny when you realize that all the human fighters were returned to their physical prime, given that’s when they were at their strongest and best shape for fighting.
But Sasaki only improved with time, so by the time he’d be an old man, he’d basically be at his best, given he did nothing but practice and spar his whole life.
